This is my first time commenting, but first let me say I love your Blog and I think that you are totally right in your comment about Politics!! The only thing I don't agree with is how you mentioned that you don't influence people. I kind of think that is a cop out that a lot of celebrities use to so they don't have to take responsibility for actions or comments. But like it or not as long as people can't make up their own mind they will always look up to celebrities and copy their opinions. While I am a republican and will be voting for McCain there are things that I don’t agree with in his campaign. Like you mentioned I think that everyone should have a right to live their life as they choose and it shouldn’t matter if they are gay for straight!!!!!!

Thank you Perez. I signed up for your blog just so I could comment on this post. I believe you are a very mature person and I have gained a lot of respect for you with your presentation of some political news. It is important that people remember that hello! bill of rights! free speech! I think some people forget that. I find it really immature that some people would harass you about your opinions. Fiscally, I am a die hard Republican. Socially, I am more liberal. I was brought up in the south, so I was brought up with some beliefs that are more conservative. Now that I have gotten older and have been exposed to more ideas, such as blogs, I have opened my eyes to do my own research rather than listening to those around me.
I think that the men and women that comment should as you said "discourse" rather than leaving petty comments without backing up their claim.
Yes, I do come here for a lot of laughs at other peoples expenses, but that doesn't make me unable to engage in talking about political beliefs.
Yeah, I don't always like the way your present the news, but it is your website. I read or listen regardless of your stance and make my own choices.

Palin proved to be a GREAT choice!!! You KNOW Hilary is SEETHING over this…. she soooo thought she'd be the one breaking the glass ceiling. I think Palin wants this for the right reason. The most important reason that you do post your thoughts Perez…people that know politics have already made their decision on who they are voting for. Who the campaigns are targeting now are the bobbleheads that are waiting for a candidate to pull out a musical instrument on a late night show to decide what person is the coolest to vote for. It's frustrating to read comments that are left. Commentators' inability to understand their limitations in understanding another's reality drove me crazy… I had to stop reading the comments. Well, I tried but it was too addicting. But why would I fault Perez. Okay Perez, I was one that was going to stop reading your blogs. Thank you for your video. It has helped me understand your point in doing these blogs, but I agree with buckeyeladyyy, if you are really trying to get people more informed than don't be so one-sided. I understand that you have your political party that you are going for and that's fine, but there are still people who do read your blogs that are un-informed about both political parties. What I really would have liked to have seen on your video though, is an apology to the previous blogs that you have written about Sarah Palin's daughter, namely, calling her daughter a "whore" when the person you are voting for himself has said to keep children out of this.
Your statement about McCain being an anti gay and making gay people second class citizens is fuckin whack, yo! Where do you read these lies? McCain may be against gay marriage (as most religious people are), but him and Mrs Palin both agree that you should have equal rights and benefits. Perez, I definitely think you have a big influence on people. Look what you've done to pop culture. I think you've ignited people's interest in politics whether they like it or not. I think Sarah Palin is a horrible choice for VP and a hypocrite. And McCain's dismissal of all questions regarding his choice and foreign policy calling them "out of line" is so baffling. Foreign affairs is the number one concern for the US right now. The status on war affects national security, the economy, foreign oil, and the status of our troops. If I can't have Hilary, then I want Obama.

Your only reason for voting democrat shouldn't be about gay rights. Although I am for gay marriage, we have to look at the issues above personal self-interest. Gay rights, the abortion issue are honestly secondary priorities, the big priorities this election need to be national security. Without having a president who will put our country first we wont have rights to fight for. Stop missing the big picture!! It isn't about you or me, it's about the survival of our nation in a seriously hostile world. In any rationale American's mind the ONLY person/ticket who can protect our nation, our ideals, principles, and rights is McCain-Palin. There's a lot of rumors you could post about Obama and Biden (which you rarely do) but there'd be no point in that. I come here to find the latest in celebrity news and to get away from all the coverage. Look you are absolutely right in the fact that this is your website and you can post whatever the hell you want. But also, as viewers, you obviously wouldn't be responding if in fact you didn't care what we had to say. We just would like for 1) that there would be some level of "fact checking" as you say about the other candidates… 2) you do have influence on your audience because remember a lot of them are young and made you who you are today. 3) Why not report on Joe Biden's or Barack Obama's past?
I mean, you read have of these comments and they are uneducated. I, myself, have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. But I am always learning and open to new ideas. I think we as readers should really educate ourselves on the issues and not just associate something with "oh its a republican thing" or "oh its a democrat thing". It's an us thing. Its okay to disagree with a person's view but it isn't okay to slander one's family regardless of media coverage. Think about your personal morality. How would you feel if you had a sister and everyone around the world was calling her a whore because of what a blogger said about her.

Just like they did after 9/11 - the GOPs want you to give top priority to national security so they can mask it as a way to take away our rights to act as a free society. Since 9/11 Bush has used national security as an excuse to listen in on my personal phone conversations, emails, confiscate my laptop when I return from Europe, put little kids, former military guys and airline pilots on a do-not-fly list and so on. If national security IS IN FACT our top priority, then what in the hell does Sarah Palin have to contribute other than her children in military. Don't buy into the fear. you seem like such a nice guy on your blogs, but the crap that you post makes you look like an ass. if you're going to try to be "politically active", at least post real stuff and talk about real issues, not just gossip about a pregnant teenager.
