I'm a independent voter, who has voted for both sides in past elections, at both state and federal levels. Right now, this country is in bad shape, and there are many things that factor into it. The last thing we need is another administration as polarizing as the current. That's what I originally liked about John McCain, because he's worked across party line, even it put him at odds with his own party. Heck, 6 months ago, Ann Coluter threaten to support Hilary, if John was the nomimee!
Ever since he won the nomination, his choice of Palin, and his rhetoric sounds like more Bush/Cheney, than the Maverick he was known to be.

I really think most people commenting on Palin's speech either watched 5 seconds of it, or read a biased article on CNN about it.
Enough with over-analyzing her family already! She wasn't holding the baby b/c she was giving her speech & waving/thanking her supporters. If she was holding the baby INSTEAD of waving/thanking her supporters, you would criticize her & say all she cares about is her baby! It's a lose-lose situation for anything she does. Her husband DID hold the baby, and her pregnant daughter did NOT hold the baby…hmm maybe b/c she's 5 months pregnant & it's uncomfortable… or b/c you're not supposed to lift things? Use your heads!
She is awesome. Anyone bashing her is scared b/c they know she just gave McCain's campaign the jolt it needs to win in November. It won't be 4 more years of George Bush. It won't be "Obama Change". It will be GOOD, POSITIVE, MEANINGFUL change.

Did she provide any analysis or philosophy of anything other than drill, drill, drill? No. She did however mislead about Obama's tax policy and she pretty much outright lied when she said she opposed the bridge to nowhere and fought against earmarks. My God, the woman hired a big time lawyer to lobby Washington for over 27 million in earmarks for her town when she was mayor.

She delivered a great speech…the content not so much. I think the tone was very smug and divisive. If anyone had any doubt that she was stuck in the position to make the religious right happy - there is surely no doubt that is the intent. McCain had his choice of many qualified and experienced running mates. The fact that he caved to the far right, proves that he is not really the maverick that he claim to be. Also, Palin's speech was written by Bush's speech writer. Sounds like four more years of bush to me.

Looks like McCain picked himself a good public speaker. But I think that's the extent of her strong points. No matter what she says, her opinions about equal rights and Pro-Choice will not change. So think of her as a good car salesman. I disagree with almost all of her initiatives. McCain is a great man & has done wonderful things for our community. Especially here in Arizona. But I think he made a wrong political choice with Palin. It's insulting that he chose her to steer the female vote. Any true Clinton followers would realize that the only thing these two women have in common is their gender.

Speech was pretty awesome. HOWEVER, I hate how this is starting to lean toward America's acceptance of teenage pregnancy/sex. Yes mistakes happen, and Bristol is about to pay for hers and reproduce one. However, America's just like "well at least they're doing what they have to do". True! But young future Jamie Lynn Spears' are looking at this and going "well she can get up there in front of America on the biggest stage in the world so it's ok to do". These kids need to know there is AIDS, hundreds of STD's etc. along with reproducing a child you can't take care of on a 10th grade education.
