Dr. Laura's Anti-Palin

The Right's Dr. Laura, the homophobic radio host, plans to vote for John McCain, but….
She's not pleased with the choice of Sarah Palin as VP.
The doc took to her blog and slammed Palin by calling her an unsuitable role model:
I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?
Ouch!

Dr. Laurie doesn't pretend to be the perfect role model; she will talk about how she learnt from her mistakes.
The dirt is just starting to come out on Palin. McCain may have to ask her to step down when the representatives come back from Alaska with more details about her past. This is what happens when you know absolutely nothing about the woman you've asked to be VP and whom you've barely met.

I attend college FROM home so my son has me here 24 freakin 7 and I wouldnt' have it any other way. But when you have intelligent, competent women running for office you don't just say YOU NEED TO BE AT HOME because they can benefit their country as well as their family. It's not for EVERY woman don't get me wrong but who are we to judge??

i just saw on a few sites that it looks like a new scandal is about to blow up…she slept with her husbands biz partner etc….at www.PalinInvestigation.com they ahve a picture of the biz partners court document trying to seal the records….but the judge ordered against…hence we will see shortly if shes been banging around as much as her daughter.
I actually have a hard time agreeing to what this woman says most of the time. She is rather conservative, and well sometimes she can be harsh.
I read her blog, and I have to say that this one time she might have a point.
You see, the fact that Ms. Palin has a "special needs" child changes things a bit. I admire the fact that she is governor, and that she seems to be a woman of strong convictions. While I'm not questioning her ability to be a V.P, I do question how well she would balance being there for her child and being "there" for an entire nation.
Dr. Laura is a fucking psycho. And the ugliest woman I have ever seen.
I have no love for Dr. Laura. Anyone that tells gays they should lead a life of loneliness rather than find someone to love has no business carrying the moniker "Dr." But on this point I'm with her. GOPalin is a mess and things are unraveling quickly.

I can't believe it–I agree with Dr. Laura. I would have bet that would never happen in my life time.
Dr Laura has been and always will be an idiot. She doesn't live in the real world. Women work and have babies. I'm not sure I would consider Down's Syndrome as serious as say Tay-Sachs or some such other disease. Down's Syndrome has a whole range of degree of expression.
And I don't even want to go into her abstinence thing…we all know abstinence works*eyeroll* History has proven that repeatedly. She's a stupid see you en tee.

USE YOUR HEAD AND THINK FOR YOURSELVES, PEOPLE. EVEN DR. LAURA IS SO MARRIED TO THE PARTY, THAT SHE IS READY TO VOTE FOR A (possible presidential replacement) WHOM SHE CONSIDERS INCOMPETENT, AND AN INAPPROPRIATE ROLE MODEL. SO, DON'T BUY INTO THE POLITICAL PROPAGANDA THAT IMPLIES YOU HAVE TO BE MARRIED TO A PARTICULAR PARTY FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. THEY DRILL IT INTO YOU THAT IT'S A LOYALTY THING - BUT THAT'S THE PROPAGANDA PART.

The concept of “feeling shame” is a very human, emotional/social mechanism. Its purpose is to deter people from engaging in behaviors that will have negative consequences for them, for others who may be victimized by their behavior, and for the community and society as a whole. The motivation behind those who rage against “shame” is to dissociate behavior from consequence. These days, judgment of others is considered a bad thing because it hurts feelings, but having hurt feelings (particularly if they’re the result of actions which cause pain to others) is a good thing; it is part of having a conscience. Only good people feel guilt. Only good people suffer from doing ill to others. It’s human, natural, expected and respected for people to suffer over their wrongdoing. To complain, however, that wrongdoing should not result in any negative reaction is immature and defensive and contrary to the notion of taking responsibility for how one’s actions impact others.
When people in the public eye and their families display behaviors which undermine role-modeling obligations or expectations, it should be examined publicly, because impressionable youngsters take their cues from their environment. When there is no public “shame” for destructive, hurtful or illegal behaviors our children see and emulate, the disasters grow exponentially.
