I was falling asleep during his speech…but I think that the protestors are a bunch of idiots. I hope they were thrown in jail or at least got their asses kicked. Why is it that the liberal protestors can't manage to make their point (if they even have one) without acting like animals? I would be more open to hearing their cause if they were not acting like a bunch of assholes.
OK, listen, you tree hugging, want equal treatment, etc., etc, people. We live in a mega-power super nation, and there is nothing more important than national security. Equal rights, while they are very important, are absolutely secondary. Has everyone forgotten about the horrors of WWII and how American soldiers, navey men, marines and airforce men and women stormed the Pacific and Europe to wipe out Hitler and the Japanesse? People tend to forget that the elected president is also the Cheif Commanding Officer of the entire US Military. Do you want Obama doing that job. I don't think so.

Agree with KRRBLL2005 because I don't like McCain or Obama. Even tho' I disagree with McCain/Palin on some fundamental things (choice!)…let's see, who would I want to lead the country? Someone with lots of experience who's a pain in the butt to his own party — or a 'junior', first term senator with only grass roots accomplishments? A no brainer. So far, it's McCain! i really liked the 7 minute video on Cindy. While people are so in love with Michelle Obama for being a fashion "icon", I'm glad we are finally showing them Cindy's charitable and missionary work she's done and continues to do. She puts her money to good causes as has for decades without wanting or needing recognition and praise for it. That's a first lady you can look up to

Someone check his pulse! Giving excellent speeches is part of the job description. Anyways, he preached to the base and left the undecided hanging. He threw out some ideas (nothing new and exciting), but didn't say how he'd achieve his goals. How, John, how? WEll, that's what the debates are for, I guess. He didn't distance himself from Bush (enough) and even Tom Ridge called him "John Bush" last night … lol. His speech was fantastic…considering this is not his thing…he is much more a debater/town hall forum guy…he likes to address questions personally and he is a BRILLIANT, WISE man…he is emotionally and mentally one of the strongest men in this world…you should read his biography…Most people could never have made it through what he encountered…and did you listen to his speech…he said he HATES war…and BTW…cut Cindy McCain some slack…this was her first major speech last night…she nor Sarah Palin are running for President..John McCain is!
The main problem with this speech is that it didn't outline a specific thing he was going to do to change things. Everyone knows that McCain is not a good speaker. Period. He is actually pretty terrible at it. I watched this speech knowing it would put me to sleep, but I stuck through it and was not impressed. I know that although McCain might do some decent things, he would not do anything for me and that is what makes me not want to vote for him. He will screw us over just like Bush. The fact that that man cannot get through a speech without mentioning how he was a POW makes me think that he has nothing else to say about himself. It was his time to shine and brag a little and he simply mentioned all the things he has been mentioning from the beginning. Sarah Palin strikes me as vicious and some people perceive that as a good thing, I don't. How dare they try to compare her to Clinton who actually went out and campaigned and actually could have been the president. This lady simply got lucky. It would be terrible to see the first female VP be someone with no training or skill. All in all McCain needs to tell people exactly what kind of change he will bring, because right now if he is elected, it would be 8 more years of hell.

Speech was boring. Did anyone notice how many of the crowd were yawning when the cameras flashed at them. It was almost comical. I also noticed that they kept showing the young people. They also made the room dark so you couldn't see that the upper level was empty. His choice of VP was dead wrong, there are sooooo many more qualified women he could have selected. Lets face it a beauty queen with a degree in journalism from U of Idaho that was mayor of a town of 7250 people (the town also happens to be the meth capital of Alaska) is hardly qualified. She would be ok if McCain was 65 but not when he is 72. This independent has made her choice. The Republicans are so out of touch. I pray for this country and I pray we get a president that had to work his way through school like I did. One that values family, education and a united states. Not one that believes if you earn $5 million dollars a year you are middle class, one that believes we are economically sound, when 85,000 jobs were lost last month and one that believes we can drill our way out of oil dependence. We get 48% of our oil from Canada, and only 11% from Saudi Arabia. We can cover the 11% with alternative fuels and save our environment for our children and grandchildren.

I watched both the dem and repub conventions with a completely open mind. These speeches should'nt be consumed with insults to the other party. Needless to say..I respect McCain for his war history..but he should NOT be president of the free world. If he gets elected god help us.

His speech was good. a little lighter on the substance that I would have liked ala Al gore 2000 at the dem convention but I felt that is was as non partisan as could be expected in a stadium ful of people yearning for red meat. Over all a good job, I think he will get a 10 point bounce out of this convention if he can stay on message he should go into november with a 5 point lead.

He did an ok job at speaking. He certianly doesn't have the public speaking skills of Obama. HOWEVER!!! Being the President isn't just about being able to talk the talk. Being President is about qualifications and being able to lead. John McCain could walk circles around Obama when it comes to his experience and his life. Obama doesn't know jack crap compared to this man. If I had to choose between a man who could SPEAK well versus a man could LEAD well, I would take the latter.

OK- I have been raised by Dems, and have been a dem as long as I have understood politics. However, just like ALL OF YOU should be doing, no matter whatever party you belong to, I have been watching the rnc with an OPEN MIND.
I knew nothing, but slander about John McCain, so I wanted to see what type of man he was, and his speech did a great job showing that. I felt his speech was beautiful written, although it might have been a little dull at times, that is real. I found his story about how he came to love his country, incredibly moving. What I am trying to say is, even though I think most republicans are total jokes, I was able to connect with him. He told us what we needed to hear, he explained the HOWS and WHATS. True, it wasn't as extensive or glamorous as Obama's way, but we need to give him credit since he did something other than making tacky jokes, whoring out a special needs baby, and taking pointlessly low cuts at the other party.
HOWEVER- i WILL NOT be voting for McCain, even if Obama was totally fake. Even if McCain had a platform I could connect with. WHY? because I DO NOT want A inexperienced "Pitbull" for president. I'd rather take my chances on a "community organizer."

Thank you. I'm not here for sympathy but that child pissed me off acting like this is a trivial thing that some of us are discussing intelligently. Republicans and Democrats are NOT THE ENEMY. We as people have VALID points. We the people have to take our country back and hold government accountable for things they say they will do. The only way we can change this country is to GET THIS GENERATION TO VOTE. We vote more on American Idol than we do electing the PRESIDENT! That is sad. I'm here to make people aware and to realize that to think in terms of 4 more years or 8 years is riduculous we need to start holding govenment accountable EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I think he did a really great job. Whether you subscribe to his ideology or not, there's no denying that his speech was sincere. I had tears in my eyes when he spoke of his fellow soldiers taking care of him.

I have lots of respect for John McCain. He obviously loves his country and has served it well. I only wish he was 10 years younger, had not had 4 bouts with melanoma, and had chosen a different running mate. Those three things are 3 very serious strikes against him in my book and that's unfortunate because I also feel he still has a lot to offer this country. My biggest fear, though, is him dying in office and leaving us in the hands of the pitbull with lipstick. That's just unacceptable to me. Not only do I feel she is not prepared to lead this country, I don't feel she is the best person to represent us abroad. I find her much too abrasive and smug and I think that would not sit well with leaders of countries where women are already considered second class citizens. I could possibly overlook the first two strikes, but that third one is just not doable for me.

McCain pushes his Vietnam experience YET HE VOTES AGAINST OUR VETS AND TROOPS while under Bush. Go google McCain votes against Vets. His record can be found under the senate.gov.org.
