It's Not Happening

We got our hopes up, only to have them CRUSHED.
But, this is probably for the best.
PerezHilton.com just spoke to Britney Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, and he tells us exclusively that the former and (hopeful) once-again Princess of Pop is NOT performing at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.
She is 100% not performing, Larry assured us, but she will be attending and opening the show.
Rudolph has repeatedly stated recently that Spears was NOT performing, a statement echoed closely by the reps at MTV.
So, what to make of that footage that leaked on Friday that showed Britney rehearsing to a new song of her with some dancers???
"She was not rehearsing for the VMAs," Rudolph tells us. "It was just her going into the studio with some dancer friends and having fun. It's a regular occurrence now. I see that every day."
But we don't! And we got VERY excited.
Well, we think it's wise that Spears wait until she's 110% ready to perform and make a killer comeback.
But, Larry tells us, that day is not too far away!

i just got EXTREMELY annoyed. i was so looking forward to seeing brit at the vmas. well, id rather wait, than her perform and not be ready for it.
UGHHH. I was kind of expecting that though. They would have publicized it more, because it would be amazinggggg. Dayyuummm i'm so disappointed! Well, at least it leaves us with a lot of anticipation for her next performance.

DAMNIT! That was the only reason to watch that stupid show. When she's on, Britney gives the most spectacular, engrossing performances ever. Who else do people talk about YEARS after they've performed one song? One dance? Who cares if she uses some back-up vocals. She CAN sing, she dances her ass off (and no one - NO ONE - can sing flawlessly or without back-ups and put on a work-out like that - Beyonce, Tina, you name it; it's not possible), and she PERFORMS better than anyone - Madonna included.
The only consolation for her not performing Sunday (other than MTV's ratings SUCKING ASS as a result) is that she's saving up to put out a spectacular for a program (Grammys?!) that didn't take advantage of her by selfishly pushing her to perform and allowing Sarah Silverman to be more cruel and unilaterially nasty about her when the poor girl was clearly in the midst of a truly heartbreaking breakdown and has done more for MTV than MTV has ever done for her.

I think people loved to see her breakdown and see her get to the bottom but I reallly think that now people would love to see her go back on top, I think it would show people that even through hard times you can rise back to the top. I looked at MTV's website yesterday and they basically said Britney was performing at the VMAs. They had a huge picture of her up on their main page and they were like "Britney's Back" or something like that. I just checked and they took it down. There was also a rumor that Katy Perry was set to be the opening act and that she was pissed because they ousted her and put Britney in her place. There was also another story that Britney was going to perform since apparently she was given a dressing room at the award show. If she was just going to present, then she would have had to share a general area with all of the other presenters; no presenter gets a dressing room.
