A new headliner has just been announced for a big Barack Obama fundraiser on September 16th.
Set to preform for the Presidential hopeful is the diva herself, Barbra Streisand, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.
This is also expected to be Obama's final visit to raise money before the general election.
The evening will start at 5:00pm with a dinner for about 250 people at a mansion in Beverly Hills.
Tickets will be on sale for the event for the small price of $28,500!!!
Perezzers will not be attending. Although we did contribute to his campaign, $28k is a bit too much for us (and most EVERYONE ELSE)!
Later that evening, Obama will attend the party at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, which will be followed by Streisand's performance.
It will be co-hosted by the DreamWorks Team (Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen) and will include Andy Spahn, a political consultant.
Tickets for that event are sold separately. They cost only $2,500 per person.
Streisand has been a big supporter for the Democrats. Back in 2000 she sang at a concert for Al Gore and again in 2004 for John Kerry.
This year she even spoke at a fundraiser to support Hillary Clinton, though she then endorsed Obama once he secured the nomination in June.
Babs has even posted a wonderful blog on her official site where she claims Sen. John McCain must think females are stupid.
She writes, “I believe John McCain chose Gov. Palin because he truly believes that women who supported Hillary — an experienced, brilliant, life-long public servant — would vote for him because his Vice President has two x chromosomes. McCain’s selection of Governor Palin is a transparent and irresponsible decision all in the name of trying to win this election. John McCain has served this country. No one in this election is denying him that. But his selection of Governor Palin has demonstrated that he is willing to put his desperation to win this election above the welfare of the American people."

I respect people's right to study and practice any faith they so desire, but when that faith leads them into power, it's troublesome. We need leaders that will make their decisions on facts and not on their faith. Your relationship with god should be personal. Obama distanced himself from his church because the rhetoric was divisive. Sarah should distance herself from her church and pastor too. Right now, I'm leery of anyone who believes Iraq is a war from God, Israel deserves terrorism because of it's non-acceptance of Jesus, speaking in tongues, etc… Again, I respect their beliefs, but think they should stay in the private sector if their views aren't more moderate.
Oh God, I can't stand these artsy, fartsy liberal entertainers. They are so fuckin' delusional. They think the only thing that matters is what is happening in their own little artsy, liberal world. Gay rights! Pro-choice! Equal rights! Those things are very important, but even more massively important is the US military and national security. Have people completely forgotten the President is also Commander in Cheif of the entire US Military? Do you really want a clown like Obama with that job. I don't think so.

Carol McCain is not crippled nor confined to a wheelchair, though she does have difficulty walking due to breaking both legs and pelvis in a car accident in the late '70's. More importantly, she stated after the divorce that she and Senator McCain remained on good terms.

You know I agree with you on just about everything but to be totally honest, McCain did treat his first wife appalingly. I want to be clear that as I criticize Obama I am not blind to my own candidate's mistakes. McCain's first wife was a swimsuit model when he married her… when he returned from Vietnam she was the victim of a serious car accident, underwent like, 27 surgeries, and gained about 50 lbs. They tried to make their marriage work for the next four years but… McCain ultimately left her for someone younger, more attractive, and with more money. Those are the facts, sadly. Tomorrow night Obama will be questioned about his racial affiliations. I would suggest Obama fans watch the program to be better informed of their candidate.

I was brought up to believe that you should not take marriage lightly; it is something that you get into and stick with and it takes a lot to make it work. I don't believe in divorce. When love fades sometimes no matter how hard you try to make it work it just won't. Not being there to know exactly what transpired I will say that in the few articles I had read, which told me a lot about Carol McCain, she was blindsided by the divorce. It is horrible to think that she had to undergo so much physical pain to only have to go through even more emotional pain. Did you watch the O'Reily show today? Obama was comparing our country with China. He commented during the interview with Bill on how grand the Olympic opening was and their infrastructure was all new. He said that our infrastructure was old and needed a facelift. I'm sorry, but how many Chinese did the Chinese government pushed to work night and day to get that stadium and everything done. Looked on the report, the Chinese had to work in diapers so they wouldn't take restroom breaks. Even one Chinese director complained about how American need to take a break every two hours and that's why we don't accomplish as much as them. Also, look at Chinese infrastructure, I'm sure only Beijing looks grand and the majority part of China is in shambles. If Obama wants to look at the "Great Wall" story as an example for us to build infrastructure, I'm sure we're heading into a "right" direction.
It's just a shame that we owe China so much money. We need to stop spending more than our mean, controlling ourselves from living by credit cards, and paying down our debts

On every rally that he and Biden did, they both introduced fear to us…they kept reminding us about how bad the economy is, how everyone can't afford to pay the mortgage, and how tough it is for a person to find a job. Apparently, genius Obama hasn't given me a solid solution yet. Go to his website and McCain's website, and comparing their approaches of solving the issues. McCain got a much better energy, national security, and immigration policy than Obama. Our corporation tax is already very high already comparing to other countries. My husband's company moved 200 jobs to Singapore just because the country gives it a 1.9% tax break (the company is being taxed at 39% in the U.S). Boeing moved their headquarter to Obama's state (Illinois) because it received a much more favorable tax break than Seattle Washington. Hence, a lot of jobs were moved from Seattle to Chicago. Halliburton moved their headquarter to Dubai (in the Middle East) because it's 0% tax there. Give me an example when a state government actually makes more jobs by taxing corporation. The only way for the state to retain jobs even when they raise tax is that the resources are within that state (i.e. oil…the company needs to drill oil at where it is and hence it has no choice but to stay there). However, when profits are not there, the company will not do anything. People are in business to make profits too. If everyone likes to give out for free, then let's ask these celebrities to make free movies for us

When I listend to McCain's campaign or rally, he kept reminding us that we have to fight through this tough time. We can do it together if we work hard again. We need to be optimistic that American will continue to stay strong. Even FDR said that "the only thing to fear is fear itself." McCain doesn't introduce any fear to us. He says that we need to fight for our country for ourselves, be optimistic and protect our country from anyone who wants to harm us. Right after I watched the McCain's rally, I switched over to the Obama's rally on CNN…and here it is…our economy is bad, we're losing our house, the government is not doing for us, they're favoring the rich, we're losing jobs…My happy excited mood immediately was gone after listening to Obama's comments. I immediately remembered that I have a mortgage pmt to pay, a car pmt to pay, I have to help my mom's with the mortgage pmt, and the credit card pmt. Why can't Obama say that it is tough for us right now, but we shouldn't fear, we can't get through it and here are my plans to help you to get through it. Even if he has a grand plan, he can't do us any good if he reminds us our problems everyday and he continues to remind us how fearful we should be with this economy….and so we should choose him out of fear?

Do you have any clue what the VP does? The Constitution limits the official VP duties to 1) become President should the President become unable to serve, and 2) Preside over the Senate (which consists of casting a vote in the event of a tie). Really, that's pretty much it. What is she supposed to do the other 364 days of the year?

Each President/VP team decides on its own what other duties/responsibilities the VP will assume… so it's not a stupid issue to admit ignorance on. I found her admission honest and refreshing. She doesn't pretend to know it all. And I'm sure whatever she and McCain decide her duties should be, she will perform them well.
