A new headliner has just been announced for a big Barack Obama fundraiser on September 16th.
Set to preform for the Presidential hopeful is the diva herself, Barbra Streisand, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.
This is also expected to be Obama's final visit to raise money before the general election.
The evening will start at 5:00pm with a dinner for about 250 people at a mansion in Beverly Hills.
Tickets will be on sale for the event for the small price of $28,500!!!
Perezzers will not be attending. Although we did contribute to his campaign, $28k is a bit too much for us (and most EVERYONE ELSE)!
Later that evening, Obama will attend the party at the Beverly Wilshire hotel, which will be followed by Streisand's performance.
It will be co-hosted by the DreamWorks Team (Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen) and will include Andy Spahn, a political consultant.
Tickets for that event are sold separately. They cost only $2,500 per person.
Streisand has been a big supporter for the Democrats. Back in 2000 she sang at a concert for Al Gore and again in 2004 for John Kerry.
This year she even spoke at a fundraiser to support Hillary Clinton, though she then endorsed Obama once he secured the nomination in June.
Babs has even posted a wonderful blog on her official site where she claims Sen. John McCain must think females are stupid.
She writes, “I believe John McCain chose Gov. Palin because he truly believes that women who supported Hillary — an experienced, brilliant, life-long public servant — would vote for him because his Vice President has two x chromosomes. McCain’s selection of Governor Palin is a transparent and irresponsible decision all in the name of trying to win this election. John McCain has served this country. No one in this election is denying him that. But his selection of Governor Palin has demonstrated that he is willing to put his desperation to win this election above the welfare of the American people."

Babs and other rich and out-of-touch Hollywood "stars" and "players" (gag) are going to have to put on the fundraiser of their lives, every day until the election in order to generate enough $$ to save the sinking ship that is the Obama campaign. And even then it won't be enough. Know why? Because the American people are smarter than Obama's campaign and the news media has ever, or will ever, give them credit for being. Let them sing while the campaign burns.

You know that when Newsweek of all rags republishes an article from factcheck.org debunking much of the Palin slander that's going around things have taken a decided turn for the worse for Obama.
I truly believe that people, who are in a position of entertainers in the limelight, should keep their mouth shut on politics.Because at the end of the day, I'm good at writing songs and singing. What I'm not educated in is the field of political science. And so for me to be sharing my views and influencing people of who I think they should be voting for … I think would be very irresponsible on my part.I think celebrity endorsements hurt politicians. As soon as somebody comes out for a politician, especially in Hollywood, when they all go, 'I'm voting for this guy!' – I go, 'That's not who I'm voting for!'

More bad news for the Obama campaign as McCain takes a 15 point lead among those crucial independent voters. McCain leads by whipping 52-37 percent among the coveted voters. McCain also leads by 19 points among "pure independents" (those with no political leanings). McCain is getting the convention bounce Obama could only dream of.

Although August fund raising numbers will not come out until next week, there is a building anxiety among Obama insiders over the extremely anemic efforts of the campaign to reach the lofty goals set for the general election. Obama started August with only $13 million in it's coffers after running a deficit campaign in July.

Chaz: I think you'd be better off talking about this movie.
Last year, while appearing on "The View," Brolin, noting his parents and grandparents had been Republicans, said he had since "started thinking for myself." He then encouraged viewers to visit a website that argues the World Trade Center buildings fell as the result of a controlled demolition.
