Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts had surgery for her recently diagnosed breast cancer on Friday.
The operation was said to be "very successful."
Get well soon Robin!
P.S. Do you think after she recovers from this life-changing experience she will come out of the closet?????

There is nothing wrong with him bringing up her sexual orientation. No other minority group can decide to let what they are not be an issue. I can just put away the fact that I'm Puerto Rican. The thing everyone is saying is that Robin has the right to make the decision to come out or not, and in her own time. It's none of Perez's business.

1. robin is an african american woman in broadcasting. as amazing as she is, it's probably not been the easiest road to get where she is. she may already be out, but being public about it might've killed her career.
2. assuming she's everything she appears to be on screen and from what we've read, the reason she hasn't "come out" in a big gay way is because she's a team player, not angling for it to be the robin show.

This was so not called for who gives a cares she's gay or not I mean I like this sight but thats so disrespectful to say or ask about someone who's going through such a thing. I'm pretty sure you don't care but really her recovery is not promised. That was a sad low blow your not looking like a good person right now I hope you was taught better then that. Some people here are acting as if Perez announced Robin was an axe murderer or pedophile. SO WHAT if she is gay. Unless you are a homophobe or find homosexuality repulsive, then what is the big deal? People speculate about sexuality all the time. And most importantly, WE SHOULD EXPECT THIS HERE!
I believe the reason Perez asked about Robin possibly "coming out" is because quite often, when a person is faced with a life-threatening illness, they will re-evaluate their lives and make huge changes thereafter. Two of my friends who battled breast cancer found the strength to leave dysfunctional relationships after they were well. Another went back to college to get the degree she had wanted to attain for so long. In short, they became more of their genuine selves.
OK, ok..I know there was some snark in there..I'm not dense. But come on, people..Isn't that what we COME HERE FOR?? This is not a girl scout meeting. This is PEREZ. If you can't handle the claws, go play somewehere else.

And after reading a few of the other reader's comments, I too will be walking away from your website. I have been reading daily for a very long time, but am truly offended by this. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in June and I was saddened by seeing yet another woman go through this battle when Robin announced her diagnosis.

Lesbians have a higher rate of breast cancer because they have a lower rate of childbirth. Having babies helps the woman's immune system and actually helps prevent breast cancer. Medical studies have confirmed this. When a woman gets pregnant her estrogen levels go up and she can avoid breast cancer later on in life. So you lesbians need to start getting preggers!
This lady didn't ask for this attention. She didn't ask for cancer. She is a class act and a very good journalist. After reading the comments everyone is basically saying so what…you see Perez when you conduct yourself and overcome the things Robin has throughout her life to become one of the most loved and respected journalists in the country you don't have to come out or explain your lifestyle. God Bless you Robin. I know you will overcome this and be stronger for it. You, Your Family and Loved Ones are in my thoughts and prayers.
