MTV's VMA Ratings Rocked

2008's MTV Video Music Awards delivered!
In the key 18-34 demographic, this year's show ratings were 15% higher than the 2007 broadcast and 41% higher than the 2006 edition.
The show was also the highest-rated telecast on all of cable in the 12-34 demo this year.
Dayum!
We guess casting the unknown Brit comic Russell Brand didn't bite the net in the ass!
MTV.com also saw a boost this year.
Its VMA-related pages delivered more than 10 million page views, a 110% increase over last year.
But, y'all know there's a certain someone MTV needs to tip its hat to for the massive ratings.
Britney. Spears.

The only reason i watched was for Russell Brand

Britney was incredible
I think most people really tuned it for some B Spears action. I love her to death, but not gonna lie…i wanted to see how she'd hold up in public.
Oh, and Russell Brand was NOT very nice cutting off those Twilight kids like that. I smell trouble…
i think they're gonna have quite a few angry fans out after cutting the Twilight cast off like that
watching to see if she goes nuts….. thats why she even won awards in the first place.. mtv loves her and the money she brings..

i just watched because of micheal phelps katy perry, the jonas brothers and lupe fiasco
everything else was awful!!!!

RUSSELL BRAND sucked….his stuff got soo old and you could barley understand him he was really really annoying ahhh I LOVE BRITNEY!

the VMAs are nothing like they used to be. russell brand sucked in my opinion - MTV is obviously lacking quality … i tuned it for performances and 1/2 the people who performed either COULDN'T SiNG or lip-synced … such a disappointment.. womp.
I agree! Britney really looked good! However, I don't understand how she won 3 awards. MTV has always taken pride in the fact that they're the only award show that focuses on the videos. Put her winning Video of the Year…oooookay!? But other artist, such as Mariah Carey, have made their comebacks based on their record sales and hit songs THEN won awards, NOT vice versa. I truly hope that Britney does makes a successful comeback (this time). By the way, PEREZ, I was a bit surprised when you said that you voted for Britney "Because she deserved it."
