He's in an interview - it's not like he's called a press conference to announce his political views or has said it at an inappropriate time. He was clearly faced with a question and just answered it intelligently.
The world wants Obama to be president. We need him to be. We would not survive another eight years of republican majority if it's going to be anything like the last four. The only thing that America has given the world in the last eight years is the NINA loan disaster and began to drive us all into an economic crisis worthy of the early 90s and 70s.
We know nothing of Palin except her spin and what the tabloids have splashed everywhere - we know she's fundamentalist and would most likely apply this to her presidency if McCain were to die (a likely outcome of his presidency - dude is old!), meaning back alley abortions abounds, more kids and young mothers on welfare, more women driven out of education and the work place due to unexpected pregnancies… you can say this can all be avoided with caution, but NO birth control is 100% foolproof, and waiting until marriage hardly means you're suddenly ready for a baby in your life just because you have a wedding ring on. This, the widespread addition of creationist teaching in the classroom, and other nonsensical political dogma, is unacceptable from a political figure.
Here in the UK, our prime ministers rarely admit their religion or religious denomination. Tony Blair kept his deep belief in Christianity hidden until after his spell as PM was over for the simple reason for keeping religion and state separate. When your presidents can take a leaf from that book, and your people can vote with confidence in that, the world will rejoice on that day.

This is so true. I'm really scared as well. Politically, I'm neither Republican or Democrat, but I can honestly say this year's Republican ticket is really weak. All McCain can talk about with excitement is his love of war, and Palin's intellect is still living in the dark ages.
If they win the election, mark my words, this country's going downhill… fast. But I guess a lot of other countries would love to see that, right? It will be our own undoing.
So what if Matt Damon is an actor, he has the right to state his political opinions. At least he has some and they're valid. He's wrote an Oscar winning movie and he's Bostonian [hellz yahh]!! The only reason why McCain is using Palin is because she is a [ahem] young republican woman. It's completely true that we know nothing about her. She doesn't want to answer any "sexist" questions. Well the fact she lets others keep bring up the sexist ordeal is because she's weak. Clinton stood up for all of that and wasn't afraid to let the country know her opinions and her plans for the future. She might be the next president, and I for sure wouldn't feel one bit safe with her as our leader. She can't even take care of her family.
