Boycott Oprah?

A group of Republican women from Florida is boycotting the Oprah Winfrey show.
Their reason?
Because Momma O won't have Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin on her show until after the elections are over.
Well, Oprah is not going to have ANYONE who's running for the White House on her show until the elections are over, including Barack Obama.
Oprah did have Obama on her show twice in the past, though that was before he was running for president.
Maybe if Palin was important enough, she would have been on the show before as well!
The vice president for the group organizing the boycott, Cindry Graves, says that that Palin "is an icon, and set her herself up to be such a women's rights and women's issues person. To have the first vice president of our lifetime on the Republican ticket being a woman and to sit it out regardless of what her personal political beliefs were was disingenuous, we felt."
That reasoning doesn't make any sense.
They're basically saying Palin should deserve special treatment and get on Oprah because she's the first female candidate running for VP in the Republican party.
People can easily argue that Obama should go on the show since he's the first African American candidate to make it this far.
Oprah is just trying to be fair.
In fact, Oprah even said, "I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
We agree with Oprah. If she said no one running in the election will go on her show now, then she shouldn't make an exception for Palin.

Oprah is lame. She *is* her show. Oprah has endorsed Obama and has stumped with him on the campaign trail. That she won't even let Palin on is appalling and shows how much Oprah is in the bag for Obama. It's insulting to Oprah's audience which is predominantly (1) white, (2) female, and (3) in their 40s-50s. Sarah Palin typifies the big O's audience!

We have talk radio because Conservatives wanted an outlet. People obviously did too because of the listener ship. The ratings are out there in black and white. Obama was forthcoming about his drug use, what's to discuss? I know the fact that Palin's kids are drug users has come up here, but that doesn't matter a lick.
Fox news doesn't always try to shut down liberals, but why should they? CNN features conservative commentators frequently. Why should there be an outlet that is 100% Rep or 100% Dem? Then people of either party would focus on that outlet and rule out any info that says otherwise.
As a graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism I know for a fact that many reporters are liberal as hell–but their employers, the big companies that run the newspapers, the TV stations–are overwhelmingly Republican. It's a checks and balances system.
Obama has had smears against him in the past, he's not immune to the shit storm occuring right now.

Palin may be the first female VP nominee for the Republican party but she's not the first female elected for a a major party. Geraldine Ferraro ran as Walter Mondale's VP in 1984 for the Democratic Party. And there are a ton of women in various smaller parties throughout the years. And Oprah is being fair on this one. I'm sure she'll have Palin on after the election.

It is really scary, it's a terrifying thought to me, an independant mind you, that people will decide this election based on notions such as race, religion, ect.
In my opinion, agree or disagree, if McCain/Palin get elected it won't be because they are agents for change or have experience…it'll be because the fat ladies in the midwest related to the number of kids Palin has and the fact that she's a "hockey mom." Sure, she's likeable (well not to me because I support gays, am for animal rights, and am pro choice among other things) but that doesn't make her a good fit for VP.

While the social issues are VERY important….. the current issues with regard to foreign policy are even more impor-tant!! Obama promised to bring home the troops in X number of months without out every having even been in Iraq or speaking to the ppl in command there!!! He only went AFTER receiving flack from McCain. Obama tells you what he needs to get nominated… not what he can actual deliver. He’s irresponsible… under his guidance I’m sure we’ll see Iraq’s version of Hilter take over the middle east!!!
