Hey, have any of you heard about some apparent feud b/w Michelle Obama and Oprah? What you got on it, Perez???

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 201
    Hi Squirrel-
When you compare the earmarks for Illinois and it's population against the earmarks Palin took for Alaska against it's population Obama's earmarks totals are less per person in comparison to Palins. As for McCain, look at the $ given to KBR and to Haliburton yet denied to direct military soldier care not just healthwise but also basic equipment necessary during war? The affirmative is YES for Corporations and NO for social necessaties ( in this case, the social sphere being the miltary). So yes, for society ( us, not military and social programs he would recieve 100% b/c republicans (most)do not believe in spending money on social ills.

  7. 207

Re: SquirrelLives – at least you've got a constant supply of "nuts" from the Carter legacy, being a Squirrel and all….LOL email me if you want at the above name @yahoo.com!

  8. 208

The entire world is HORRIFIED SHIT to the real possibility of that President Palin. That's really the End Of the World as we know it.

Re: elgin trial – point taken, but partisan politics are hardly to blame

    Re: Cutie
    Post 110
State ziti has already stated on numerous posts that the only minorities he hates are blacks. Better to be upfront about your racism than pretend to be something you are not. I may not agree w/ the racism but it is what it is. And for the record, YES it is very offensive.

  11. 211

Economists do almost as much damage as the polititons!

  12. 212

    Re: NatTurner – Post 212
She's not running for President. She wasn't in the legislature and couldn't put them in the bills. I don't see the connection. All governors ask for money. It's up to the Congressmen and Senators to make them turn into real money. Trying to put the responsibility for that money on her is about as valid as Obama saying he was against the war in 2002. Big deal, he didn't have to vote on it. He wasn't in Washington.

  13. 213

Wow… but what I really want to know is who does the South African's tribal leaders second cousins Father's best friends wife want to see win… UuMMM!!! Who cares!!! It's our election… tell them pay attention to their own affairs…
    next

  14. 214

    Re: NatTurner
Last time I checked Barry wasn't running against Sarah. It's funny how twisted around the axle you all are over Palin when you should be focused on McCain. It's losing you guys the election.

  15. 215

    Re: kendoll3000 – Post 223
LOL - never a shortage of nuts. Gotcha on the email. Thanks

  16. 216

Rashmanly is Retartded! Those are simply just quotes and it is so annoying that you are only listening to what other people say instead of actually doing research and making a decision for yourself. Personally I think he loves his wife and daughters and respects them so much that you can see it all over his face when he talks about him. There is nothing sexist about Barack Obama or Joe Biden, They are our future so I sugeest your read up, sit down, drink some of the Kool aid and go with it……Obama 2008!

  17. 217

Re: Smirks – Yes, I can. And it's true, which is why I quoted it. My name is Smirks and I can't add anything substantial to the conversation. You wanna go back and forth on actual facts? Let's do it. I went to college, which is why I'm voting for Obama, so good luck.

Re: LeezaPeeza – LeezaPeeza, you are naive. When I was your age I leaned to the left. but then I grew up.

    McCain 08

  19. 219

Re: NatTurner – Besides the fact that although she said No to the bridge to nowhere (but only after popularity waned) she still kept all of the money!!! She is such a lying bitch. I'm not aiming this at you, we're on the same side of intelligence, but I just wanted to agree and point out this fact.

  20. 220

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 221
Then explain Obama's score from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste versus McCain's. See this is the problem with the Democrats, they forget who is running for President. Obama is doing the same thing. It's not Palin guys, you're going after the wrong person. I should just keep my mouth shut. This is working too good.

  21. 221

Re: Cutie – Let me guess, you grew up and decided NOT to go to college? Just a wild guess *rolls eyes*. What do all McCain supporters have in common? No education = I WANNA VOTE FOR SOMEONE THAT'S JUST AS STUPID AS ME BECAUSE I CAN IDENTIFY WITH HIM/HER. Ugh, pathetic. Our country is screwed–it's become cool/smart to be dumb.

  22. 222

Re: xXTOMXx – #220 - I don't think Squirrel is going to huff and puff and say "I'm moving to Canada".

  23. 223

Re: underfrog – You're right! Just like how America should leave China alone!

  24. 224

Re: SquirrelLives – He publicly came out against the vote and the war while running for senate, one of the few people smart enough to see the real picture. If he had been elected, he would've voted against it. Wasn't Sarah Palin still a sports broadcaster in 2002? And McCain was a liberal republican still–now he's thrown all of his public and personal beliefs aside to pander to his conservative whack job party. Talk about no backbone. I used to like McCain until he turned his back on everything he believed in and became a talking robot at the behest of the republican party machine. Yeah, what a maverick–he stood for change until he started running for president and realized he had to get the support of redneck creationist idiots and therefore had to change EVERY SINGLE moderate stance he'd ever had. Pathetic.

  25. 225

Re: State ziti – You are on today!!!

  26. 226

Of course, a classic Repube mantra: "Who cares what the rest of the world thinks?!?!?" But of course, you cared what certain other "rest of the world" people thought about us when they crashed two airliner jets into the WTC, right, hypocrites? You think you don't disgust the rest of the world, terrorists included, with your egomaniacal bullshit? People like you are the reason America has a tarnished reputation around the world. What an embarassment you are.

  27. 227

Re: SquirrelLives – Obama has not mentioned Palin in his speeches–that's why the whole lipstick stupidity doesn't hold any water. Stop drinking the FoxNews Kool-Aid, please. It's sad.

Too bad for the Dems that all of us who went to college aren't voting Obama.

  31. 231

    Re: xXTOMXx – Post 220
Hold my nose for four years. And believe me it will only be four years. One and done. Just like my cuzz Jimmy Carter.

  32. 232

Yeah, and OTHER countries always have America's best interest in mind!! Jesus, if I wasn't already voting for McCain, this kind of shit would make me!!

  33. 233

And his endorsment is important …why? I'm positive sure Bin Laden will endorse Obama too. No matter…..Americans and only Americans, will decide who will be our next president…..Women and the blue collar people who "cling to their bibles and guns" will also vote.

And the only candidate of the two, who really deserve the honor is McCain.

He will win….And the Prime Minsiter of UK will kiss his ass.-

  34. 234

Great Britain says "Our teeth may be wrong, but our politics are spot on!"

  35. 235

i'm glad he is supporting obama…….. & i think it is so sad that there are sooooo many racist people in this country! they're not even paying attention to what mccain really wants for this county. they are just voting for him, because they are so caught up in the fact that they do not want to vote for a black man!! they rather have many years of the same BS than to vote for a black man that actually knows what he is talking about & that actually has a plan for this messed up country

Re: Jenfraud – the whole world is jumping to rash conclusions

  39. 239

    Re: BrOwN EyEd BeAuTy
I don't think there are many "racists" in this country. If that is the case there will be no black man running to be a president. And if he lose is not because of his race, but because his stupidity. Being friends of Rev Wright and Aiken (Our national terrorist) and being married to an radical orangutan name Michelle (that hates America) is not a good thing. Rejecting Hillary as a vice president is not a good thing. It turns the majority of Americans off. It really do.

Blacks (99%) are voting for Obama only because he is BLACK. That is racist.

  40. 240

I can't believe the ignorant people on this site. It's like the blind (Peresito) leading the blind.

FYI, he denied that he's supporting Obama. Here's part of that article. Anyone who is interested in the truth (obviously only a small minority here) can find the entire article on Yahoo News:

    Brown said:

"He noted that he had met with Republican hopeful McCain both in London and the United States over the past six months, just as he has met with Obama.

"I am very proud to know both senator McCain and senator Obama," he said, adding: "The decision of the American people is the decision that will be the right one."

The Daily Telegraph newspaper, which editorially favours the Conservatives, cited sources in the Labour Party as saying the article had in fact been written by a junior official, before being "signed off."

  41. 241

Re: Melissa is always right – 241. You're pathetic… don't encourage him. If "State-Ziti" is the "on" voice of our country, we seriously need some help.

  43. 243

    Re: xXTOMXx – Post 258
What are you wanting? Please elaborate.

  44. 244

    Re: COCACOLA

You don't think there are many racists in this country? Calling Michelle Obama an "orangutan" isn't helping your claim. Also, if the only info you have to back your claim that Mrs. Obama "hates" America is her statement that "for the first time in [her] adult life, [she's] proud to be an American" than you're just spitting off the same garbage as people who believe Obama meant to insinuate that Palin is a pig.

Excuse me while I diss my country and throw away a novelty flag from the DNC convention; spare me with symbols of American pride. After all, Bush called the constitution "just a piece of paper."

  45. 245

Re: State ziti – you know McCain's dick is bright red from how hard you're sucking it

  46. 246

    Re: State ziti

What about when the head of McCain's campaign team was asked to list 1 executive decision Palin has made? He accused the commentator of belittling McCain and cried so hard that McCain pulled out of an interview with Larry King. At least Obama had the balls to go on air with Bill O'Reilly, and at the end of the interview even O'Reilly said Obama was "no weakling."

  47. 247

Re: hollyholly8 – I meant he is on in beating liberals at their own name calling game.

    Re: RashManly

    "Wise up ladies,
    why do you think Barack
    did not pick Hillary Clinton
    as his vice president?
    Because he disrespects women!"

Barack went for a older guy to win over McCain supporters in the same way McCain went for Palin to win over Clinton supporters. Do you think Hilary would settle to be vice president I don't believe she would ever have wanted it!

How can you delude yourself that Obama is disrespecting women!? What is disrespecting women is to force your teenage daughter to keep her unplanned pregnancy and to marry her high school boyfriend.

As for Brown the sooner we get him out the better!

  52. 252

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 236
Well when you talk earmarks people automatically think of Palin B/C Repubs talk a/b cutting porkbarrel spenf=ding and McCain puts his party on notice yet his VP has one of the BIGGEST Earmarks out there so that's the hypocrisy in a nutshell. As for Obama's ratings like I said, corporations run this country so any money towards social ills and social programs are deemed "worthless" spending as it goes against the individuality of this nation and pull yourself up from your own bootstraps that is the message of America… in other words, no, I am NOT my brother's keeper. I believe this is a small understanding ( not all) of American Exceptionalism b/c there are many facets to it.

  53. 253

I just saw old footage of president Bush stating, and I quote: "I am a war president! When I make decisions I have WAR on my mind!" What the world wants, is a peace president, who has peace on his mind! During this administration, where countless amounts of mistakes were made. A war on a country wrongfully started based on grounds the US government later had to confirm were unjust, where thousands of their own soldiers and international troups have died serving their countries and countless innocent people were killed. It's time America votes for a change with this policy and does NOT elect a president from a party that has the same exact goals and ideas as this current administration! Bush has pushed his own country and the entire world into war, and dragged down the global economy while completely ignoring environmental, social and educational issues! Do the research! READ UP! Vote with knowledge in your mind, not preconceived ideas of what you are told to think!

  54. 254

    ^^ FIX'D

  56. 256

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 228
wasn't that $ for the bridge to nowhere? when that fell through did the $ not stay in Alaska w/ the earmark specifying what it's for removed? If the earmark was not removed, Alaska would have had to give the money back.
That bridge to nowhere is one of the biggest examples out there of porkbarrel.

  57. 257

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 270
Minx, this wasn't one of your better posts. I'm not following you at the end. I disagree about Palin being the poster child of pork. Two weeks ago, no one knew who she was so to say people automatically think of her is a REAL stretch of the imagination.
    -
From each according to their ability - For each according to their need. Where does that come from? You know. Obama's message sounds too similar - that scares me.

  58. 258

    Re: robster
To suggest that McCain equals Bush is a specious and disingenuous scare tactic. It amounts to little more than liberal fearmongering.
    -
Obama in is lockstep with his party's doctrine 97% of the time. That is when he bothers to vote other than "present"
    -
The 90% of the time that McCain voted HIS party line were primarily pro forma votes.
    -
The 10% of the time that McCain rejected partisanship and voted opposite of his party is a CRITICAL 10%. To minimize it is a liberal tactical error. Those votes include things like:
    - McCain supported stem-cell research
    - McCain opposed a ban on same-sex marriage
    -
McCain's voting record demonstrates that he is willing, in the best spirit of bi-partisanship, to vote his conscience regardless of party affiliation. The same can hardly be said for Obama.
    -
    McCain/Palin '08!

  59. 259

    Re: State ziti

All right, I hate to throw this out because it's been done over and over again but if McCain isn't Bush then why has he voted with him 90% of the time? He claimed to be a Maverick, and for awhile he really was. Then he got Palin as a VP, a woman who is extremely far right where McCain used to be more moderate, and even challenged Republican ideals just to score women voters and to fire up the Republican base.

I like McCain. Hell, I sat next to the guy for my boyfriend's high school graduation–I just don't like his policies.

  60. 260

Re: COCACOLA – well, maybe on this site then…… i think he should have selected hillary also. & i don't think 99% of blacks are voting for him just because he is black & if so, then they are just ignorant!

  61. 261

    Re: mamajud
    Post 266
So then using your rationaity then. WOuldn't it make sense to address our national needs HERE first before being generous to a bunch of non Americans? ( Devil's advocate)
Seriously though, how come we can be so generous to people around the world and selfish to each other? Isn't looking into our spending and taking care of the issues here what matters first and foremost?
America is like the family member tha hit the jackpot and now relatives are climbing out the woodwork to empty the coiffers.(Again Devil's Advocate). All that money given to Haliburton and KBR for Iraq could have gone into our infrastructure, which would have produced jobs for starters…. BTW, I do think it generous of us to give and give generously, I tink no person by nature likes to watch others suffer while having the means and capability to help.( For those that missed the point of Devil's advocate).

  62. 262

    Re: State ziti

Additionally, I know Obama is running agaist McCain, I only use Palin to illustrate a poor decision on McCain's part. He makes decisions too hastily, and she's a product of that.

  63. 263

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 274
She received $223 million in gov't money for this project. This is 1/3 the amount Obama has raked in for his state. The bridge funding began in 2005, before she was governor. She has misrepresented herself on this issue but she is not solely to blame for this waste. Trying to pin this on her is a little under handed.

  64. 264

Re: State ziti – african american? it has nothing to do with him being black! i have white, black, & mexican in me but who cares. if it was a white man up there saying everything that obama says & believes i would vote for him too! i'm not just voting for obama because he is black! that would be just IGNORANT! i just don't agree with what mccain has to offer.mccain agrees with 90% of everything that bush agrees with.

  65. 265

Has anyone seen the facebook pages of John McCain and Barack Obama? It's comical…. Obama has something like, 1,720,645 supporters (including me!!), McCain has like, 320,000 or something.

  66. 266

Re: kendoll3000 – no, sorry your guess is wrong!!! i've voted ever since i was able to.

  67. 267

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 275
Before Palin trust me the Bridge to Nowhere was literally Political Fodder for those that follow politics. Just google Bridge to Nowhere and you will see comments even from '05 on politico sites etc. I believe even Parade magazine wrote on this. Now the reason Palin cames under fire is because she didn't return the $ back. Why? because the earmark was removed restricting what the money is supposed to be spent on. As for the remainder of your statement post 221 sums it up a bit better… I do sometimes get a bit carried away thanks to going over Tocqueville's American Exceptionalism all day. i should have decompressed before getting on here LOL!

  68. 268

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 283
What's being pinned on her is NOT returning the $ since the money is NOT being used as intended. That is what a porkbarrel is and that is why she is under fire for it. It's because she kept the funding which is a HUGE amount for such a small state.

  69. 269

Re: Smirks – lmao weakened military?? people are losing their lives because some idiot has nothing else to do but start a war. they go over there & fight for this country & go through hell & when they come back they can't even get a job or insurance! bush just wants to go out with a bang, that's why this economy is so messed up now

  78. 278

    Re: COCACOLA
    Post 255
You are all types of wrong on this.
Obama has Rev Wright McCain has his spiritual guide Rod Parsley
Calling Michelle a monkey exemplifies your racism. Secondly, Blacks 95% have always voted Democratic, hence why bill promised hillary he could deliver the black vote. So your argument for black supporting Obama holds no water Blacks support the Democratic party , always has. Only 28% of the Democratic party supported an Obama/ hillary ticket/ As for Michelle not being proud of America what a/b McCain? Yeah he was a POW for five years yet he was a citizen of this country for 30 years BEFORE he discovered how much he LOVED his country once forced to be a "guest" in another. I love how he can come to that at 34 years old yet Michelle takes flack for saying that "For the first time in her ADULT LIFE she is PROUD of her country NOT b/c Barack has done well, but BECAUSE I think PEOPLE are HUNGRY FOR CHANGE." Michelle never deserved the eat she got and she is not the one running for president.

  79. 279

    Re: State ziti

Is that seriously the best you can do. Hold me and the current generations in Europe responsible for wars and battles fought centuries and decades ago? I was not btw holding the US responsible for this war. Not the american people. I'm holding the US president responsible! He gave the ok to invade Iraq and dragged your entire country into war. When I have issues with him, that does not mean I have issues with the US people! Those are two completely different things. I do hope however that the US people realize that when they vote for McCain and Palin, that they vote for people with the same ideas and convictions as Bush, who have announced no plans to change their policies concerning foreign affairs, environment, economy, education, social security. All of which are now in a seriously BAD state! Don't believe me, do the research!

  80. 280

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 296
Yeah, She got heat for continuing to support it and changed her mind but Alaska got the money and she never gave it back. Now it's my turn to be a bit lost… what do you mean about McCain " In fact, I think McCain can make a bigger issue out of this than they can. " ?

  81. 281

Re: Smirks – OK fine, if you're just having fun, then all is forgiven :)

  82. 282

McCain can make a bigger issue out of earmarks than Obama can..I would think Obama would rather not go there. His only argument would be with regard to Palin. Obama has nothing on McCain here.

  83. 283

    Re: robster – totally agree!

  84. 284

Re: Cutie – I guess they "definately" didn't teach spelling at Purdue. What in the hell does a loft have to do with education? Do you teach out of the loft? Off-campus learning? Man, it gets worse with each post-lol.

  85. 285

    Re: SquirrelLives
Obama can make an argument of this. Remember when people kept asking where is he going to get the $ to fund the things he talks about? Well the scrimping for $ starts w/ getting rid of porkbarrel spending and quite a bit of pork went to Haliburton and KBR thanks to those NO BID Contracts while our soldiers were left to make do with old and insufficient equipment. Governmnt accountability is where Obama intends to start so this is one of theprgrams he would be looking into and tightening legislature on.

  86. 286

    Re: Smirks

But when you vote republican their party program issues include opposing legalising same-sex partnership registration, opposing stem-cell research, no interest what so ever to cooperate on a global scale to stop global warming or look for alternative fuels, etc, etc, etc! On a party level, not on a personal level that is what McCain will be representing! Because you might vote for a person, but you get the party he stands for! And there is no denying that the republican party is conservative and very much driven by christian beliefs, which in basis are good, unless you start using it to limit people in their actions or judge them for it (homosexuality, abortion, sexual education, euthanasia, etc, etc)!

I think we would be better severed by eliminating the spending all together. Forget the projects. Don't raise taxes. Strengthen the dollar. I'm no interested in Obama's government programs. Not health care. Not income redistribution. None of it. The only health care reform I want to see is mandatory health insurance. Like they do in Massachusetts. You get health insurance or get fined. That way everyone is paying into a system that remains in the private sector.

Each party has its extremist viewpoints. For liberals that might include a pacifism doctrine, redistribution of wealth, government ownership of industry, and moral relativsm. To suggest that the man or woman in charge will kowtow to his or her party's extremists is simply not true. Case in point are two centrist presidents in recent memory - one, a Democrat (Clinton) and another, a Republican (Reagan). Two very successful presidencies.

What we need is a leader capable of working in a bi-partisan fashion in order to move our country closer to the middle, as in my examples above. What we don't need is a politically divisive leader who rigidly adheres to party doctrine. The only candidate in this election capable of this type of political moderation is John McCain. His voting record in the senate speaks for itself. Hopefully he will get a chance to prove it.

But Squirrel, considering the state of the economy right now, Who can afford $800+ per month for healthcare? People are Barely scrimping by right now on the income they have and w/ jobs going overseas by the boatload it's hard to tell people "pull yourself up" when even w/ a college degree some still get shafted and are stuck working for Starbucks justfor H/C. You don't have to be interested in Obama but wouldn't want to know EXACTLY where YOUR hard earned $ is going? Presidents come and go but when are we going to say Enough is Enough and hold gov't accounatble to We the People? The Ones losing every single time????

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 320
I am currently unemployed receiving unemployment. I lost my health insurance when I lost my job. I went to an agent and got a short term (1 year) policy to cover me and my wife for $173 per month. It has a $5000 deductible. It's not the best plan but I'm covered. My belief is - there is a large segment of the uninsured that could get insurance, can afford insurance, but doesn't want to spend the money on it. If I can do it under my current circumstances then there is no excuse for others. Under the Massachusetts plan, the government went to the industry and forced them to offer low cost plans to low wage earners. There really is no excuse. Just unwillingness.
