I'd love to keep my tax dollars too but our gov't needs our tax dollars to keep this country going.
Now, I watched Palin on Charles Gibson and right now I can tell you, she had No Clue what the Bush Doctrine is. Part 2 continues tom. He is asking her some very tough questions and I think we as a nation should be appreciative of that. Have a good night!

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 320
It's about priorities. I didn't want to leave myself exposed in the event of a health crisis. I own my home, have investments, and retirement accounts I didn't want exposed to being uninsured. If everyone were paying into the system, then prices would come down. The reason health care is so expensive is because the responsible (insured) are paying for the irresponsible (uninsured).

First and foremost I COMMEND YOU!!! Secondly I thought you were a female as I am LOL!!!
I don't know how Mass. works, 173$ for you and ur wife is pretty reasonable but what a/b families w/ Children or areas like Detroit, areas of Appalachia where your home is there but the jobs are gone w/ no new developement in sight? How much is insurance in Mass. for a family of 4 and given the economy right now do you really think people can spare an extra say 450$ a month for insurance? People can barely afford what's on their plates now and there are a LOT of people who have done the right thing, lived belowe their means and are still feeling the pinch.

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 324
I'm getting by on less than $2000 per month. I'm in the lowest income bracket there is. I am the poor. There is no excuse. But instead of sitting back and whining about my poor life, I went out and enrolled in school to complete my education. I intend to become a CPA / Financial Planner. My tuition is paid for by my states HOPE scholarship which is paid for by our state lottery. This is available to anyone in my state. People just want a hand out. I'm not for that.

  5. 305

    Re: SquirrelLives
I'm not trying to be rude but with an income of $2000 a month here in Chicago, you would definatley have to take state asst. a one bedroom here starts at $975 in a relatively safe neighborhood gas is currently $4.49 a gallon and don't even think of hopping on the metra to get to work EXPENSIVE doesn't describe it. If you were in California riding the BART to work, you would be in over your head, seriously. I think for your area and our (chicago) cost of of living to make it bye on what your talking about you are only 10k above the poverty line. A family of four is at the poverty line at 21k so if a person in Mass. made the same income as you to take care of a fam of 4 and lived here in CHicago, trust me no matter how you squeeze a dime, they really wouldn't make it paying for their own H/C to boot. And you would be BARELY scraping bye here and FORGET a/b even living in California on that. This is so complex and so saddening. I give you kudos.

  6. 306

Barack means well, but he's not destined to win the election, say the Mystic Twins (.com) in their analysis and prediction.

  7. 307

Re: Cutie – How did I do that? I'm not the one bragging about material things and "my lifestyle." I focus on helping others and my country, not on grabbing all I can for myself. This is why I'm not a Republican–I'm not selfish and I don't brag about my wealth. It's tacky and cheap.

  8. 308

Re: Smirks – You got it! :) I've only banged my head against the keyboard three times today! I'm getting better-hah.

  9. 309

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 323
The reason heathcare is so expensive is b/c it is privatized. If tax dollars weren't squandered and redirected into a national healthcare system that would be one less public headche to worry a/b especially in regards to children. I mean We are the RICHEST country, Australia, France, Austria, Canada, Beligium, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Netherlands New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom to name a few can afford it why can't we?

  10. 310

Re: SquirrelLives – So you're opposed to "handouts" like scholarships and financial aid but you're going to "school" on a scholarship paid for by the lottery???? lmao - thank you for that. That is awesome.

  11. 311

It's hard for me to sympathize when we are talking about America. You have freedom of movement. No one is forced to live anywhere. This simply doesn't float with me. There's all the incentive to succeed in this country, every opportunity. People that choose to languish are simply losers. I resent having to support people that won't do for themselves. I understand the need for certain social programs for there are plenty of people that need the help. What I don't agree with is the notion of - from each according to his ability - to each according to his needs. This is the message I get from Obama. He talks about fairness too much. Sounds eerily familiar to the Marxist slogan.

  12. 312

    Re: Bronte34 – Post 331
The lottery is voluntary and it is advertised as is. People know what they are paying for. It is well known that it pays for HOPE scholarships. To me this is completely different than taking tax money. I don't qualify for Pell grants due to my net worth. I don't receive tax dollars for my education. I do not benefit from anything forcibly taken.

  13. 313

Re: JERMAINE – That's all we need, Jermain, some idiot that can "make us believe" stuff. You guys are a joke.

  14. 314

Re: LatinDaddy – you are voting for nobama because there are a lot of racist comments on perezhilton's website? well, that's the most thought provoking, brilliant reason for voting for an idiot i have ever heard! thanks so much for the enlightenment!

  15. 315

    Re: SquirrelLives
    Post 332
Squirrel, who doesn't want to move and change their conditions esp. those that own homes in run down areas like Appalachia and Detroit, you have to find a buyer first, no one wants o abandon a home, that's your first saftey net for cash. The problem is complex, we have a society of babies breeding babies, babies not being properly vaccinated, an education system severely behind even some THIRD world countries and unskilled laborers working 3 and 4 jobs to make ends meet. As you know you cannot collect wlfare w/o working that was Clinton's welfare to work program. So, again, the handout ploy is just that, a ploy the system is a little more complex than that. I mean for what your saying even Financial aide to college students shouldn't exist. I think in this scenario we may need to adopt the Spartan mentality of everything for the good of the state… did I just type that?! How Hitler of me! Seriously, we need to follow the $ and apply it where it benefits We the people. If the $ is going to be collected and taken out my pocket I want a receipt on what it is being used for. Porkbarreling only benefits corporations not us.

  16. 316

Too bad he won't be PM much longer because he's an idiot…therefore his support shouldn't imperss anyone….

  17. 317

Re: Bronte34 – Those supporting McCain didn't go to college? You don't even know what Creationism/Intelligent Design is nor do you know how to RESEARCH (yes, something I learned in high school and perfected in college - have you gone to either?). Palin did not ban books, Palin does not encourage Creationism only education. Check your facts (factcheck.com).

  18. 318

    Re: MINXLIVES – POST 336
I knew it all along. Oh my how we differ.

  19. 319

Re: swimgirl – Hi darlin, where did I say she supported Creationist only education? The fact that she wants both taught is scary enough, but fine, so be it. I will tell my kids when they get home that creationism is for those who are not so bright. I do know that she inquired about banning books which is shady. I feel much better now that I saw her interview with Charlie Gibson–she came off as completely clueless who simply spewed talking points faxed to her by Rove. Couldn't even answer simple questions. What's your foreign policy experience: "Oh yeah, I'm Alaskan, and my foreign policy experience comes from working on energy issues–oh yeah, and I can see Russia from the edge of my state–oh yeah, I tell ya." It would've been hilarious if it wasn't so terrifying and sad. But of course, for Republicans, that's something to celebrate–yeah, she's "like me" - stupid.

  20. 320

Re: swimgirl – And I do know what Creationism/Intellligent design is–my father is the minister in a 10,000 member church.

  21. 321

Re: SquirrelLives – So instead of taking "tax money" handouts, you're taking "income money" handouts. Oh, ok :) I still think it's great that you're going to college because of other people's money–that's what I support as a Democrat :)

  22. 322

Re: Cutie – Please sue me for libel for writing on a Perez message board? lmao; you are so cute, I love you!! Let's call Judge Judy. She'd love this one.

  23. 323

Perez, you're clipping my balls here. Don't do this to me. STOP CENSORING you bubbled headed slag.

  24. 324

    Re: Bronte34 – Post 342
    Perez sucks

  25. 325

    Re: Bronte34 – #340
Personally, I found that Charlie Gibson set the tone of the interview which was tense and adversarial. He looked like he was sucking on a lemon the whole time. Very different from the tone set by O'Reilly in his interview with Obama. Aside from that, I think you are being a little unfair. Foreign policy experience is hardly the yardstick by which VP canditates who were state governors should be measured. McCain has enough foreign policy / foreign relations experience. Obama doesn't have any… which is why he was compelled to choose crusty old Biden. Had Obama had ANY relevant foreign policy or foreign relations experience, it would have freed him up to choose Hillary as his running mate… a Democratic dream ticket. I really want to rely on my PRESIDENT to have the foreign relations experience… not my Vice President. The past eight years, years in which our President began as a neophyte in that area, were not the best, to say the least. I don't want to go through that again with Obama.

    328

I certainly don't want other countries trying to tell me who to vote for.I decided to vote for McCain when I found out Obama got the nod. No question who has more experience between these two men. I've looked at Obama's record, watched all his interviews and read as much as I could about him, I feel like I've done my homework, and I don't feel comfortable voting for him. What really turns me off about some Obama supporters is that if you don't agree with them then suddenly you are considered uneducated and they fly into a rage and start wishing McCain dead and calling Palin's youngest son names that are beyond cruel and I just sit there and think…damn you are really mean and closed-minded….NOW I know why I'm choosing the other side! The same Dems I know who were saying Obama was an idiot when they thought Hillary was getting the nom are now acting like he is the baby Jesus. What has changed? Is he not the same guy they thought was an idiot a few months ago? I don't care if people call me names for casting my vote for a man I feel more comfortable with, at least I'm not just voting for somebody because they call themselves a certain party and only for that reason. I'm voting for the best guy to lead in my opinion.

  29. 329

Re: Smirks – The difference is that Obama is not an idiot. Bush is. That's not an opinion. As for O'Reilly, you're right, Gibson didn't start yelling at her and quoting false facts. And Obama didn't answer with, "Oh yeah, I know about foreign policy cause Chicago has a river and so does Russia, oh yeah." lol - all I know is I am feeling much better–she can't go off script. Of course, if they're elected, it's the scariest thing to happen since George Bush and look where that got us.

  30. 330

Re: audacity of crap – Not to mention a war that has cost trillions, killed innocent people, and does this country zero good. But it's OK to jack our taxes up for THAT?! Republicans. I just don't get you…

  31. 331

Europe ,Canada,Australia, latin america ,they all want Obama, they hate republicans, these are our friends, and they hate republicans, hate their guts. Can you blame them? Only uneducated bigots ,white trash and southern fundamentalists from red states vote republican, and usually they are part of the same group. Dont let Mccain and Palin freak win. Obama/Biden 08 If you want to keep the United States modern and free, its really that simple. And whats the infestation of rightwing trailer park kids who aspire to be neo nazis here, come on losers dont you know nascar is on espn, now run along.

  32. 332

How many Afghanis did the USSR kill? Tell Britain to get out of Northern Ireland!! The land of Fascism and Communism is calling us warmongers. Get some perspective you dishonest fucks….I mean I love Europe, but when you talk shit about the US you guys have ZERO historical perspective on your own actions. Those in glass houses. You've been a peaceful continent for 20 or 30 some odd years. Get over yourselves Re: State ziti

    Oooohhh, snap.

  35. 335

Seriously though, how come we can be so generous to people around the world and selfish to each other? Isn't looking into our spending and taking care of the issues here what matters first and foremost?
America is like the family member tha hit the jackpot and now relatives are climbing out the woodwork to empty the coiffers.(Again Devil's Advocate). All that money given to Haliburton and KBR for Iraq could have gone into our infrastructure, which would have produced jobs for starters…. BTW, I do think it generous of us to give and give generously, I tink no person by nature likes to watch others suffer while having the means and capability to help.( For those that missed the point of Devil's advocate). Re: MINXLIVES

Agreed. I'm tired of rebuilding other people's countries with our money and all while our infrastructure is crumbling. Those other countries we free and rebuild never really appreciate it in the end either. It's almost like they resent having to have someone else come in and help them.

    Re: knowitall – #352
I am neither an "uneducated bigot" (aren't you Dems all so darned SMUG about your "educations" - lol. My brother is a professor at an Ivy), nor am I "white trash" (a derogatory term so offensive I wouldn't be caught dead using it.) or from a red state (what's wrong with red states - you say it like it's a dirty word. For shame). So there goes your "argument".

Please take your ignorant hate speech over to Daily Kos where you and your ilk gutter-dwell. These forums seem a bit challenging for you.

    Re: MINXLIVES – Post 320
I am currently unemployed receiving unemployment. I lost my health insurance when I lost my job. I went to an agent and got a short term (1 year) policy to cover me and my wife for $173 per month. It has a $5000 deductible. It's not the best plan but I'm covered. My belief is - there is a large segment of the uninsured that could get insurance, can afford insurance, but doesn't want to spend the money on it. Re: SquirrelLives

Here here. I am a single homeowning female. I work full time and I pull down about $21,000 a year. I'm classified as being just above poverty level. I pay about $200 a month for health insurance and that includes dental. It can be done. I have to wrangle sometimes financially from month to month but I still manage to contribute to a 401k and an IRA(not as much as I would like but I still manage). Sometimes I wonder how I'm going to make it but I scrape by. Sometimes I have to do without and sometimes I splurge too much on non essentials but I still manage. I just wish I had less taxes coming out of my paycheck every pay day because I could contribute that much more to my 401 k or IRA or I could have that much more to put towards things I need or would like to have. I get behind on some things but I still manage to squeak by.

  38. 338

    Re: Bronte34 – #350
"The difference is that Obama is not an idiot. Bush is. That's not an opinion." - I don't disagree. Too bad Obama is not running against Bush. Ironic that he seems to feel he needs to run against Palin. Guess he realizes how he stacks up against John McCain.
    -
"As for O'Reilly, you're right, Gibson didn't start yelling at her and quoting false facts." - No, and there were no moments of back-slapping and joking about basketball either. It was more of… an interrogation is the best way to describe it. Not that that's unwarranted, just that Obama gets pass after pass.
    -
Did you see the forum at Columbia tonight? Judy Woodruff is such a poor excuse for a "journalist". She was baiting McCain over and over about America being the greatest country in the world, but when Obama said it she practically orgasmed. It was a disgusting example of how most of the press fawns all over the Dems.
    -
Anyway, I'm tired. Night everyone :)

What pisses me off is England is supposed to be liberal and I had no idea they were supporting conservative presidents only. Obviously I knew Blair was Bush's little lapdog but still. UK does have their own problems anyway with illegal immigration and countless refugees. England for me was always too liberal, America too conservative.

You mentioned no children so you are making it bye just like Squirrel. If you came to Chicago or California just earning that, you would sink. If you follow the thread of Squirrel and I you would also see where I told him Good for his hard work nut I would still like a receipt for where my $ and your $ is going. Is that an unreasonable request? We get a receipt for everything else why not WHERE gov't is spending our tax dollars?

Did you also notice that she had NO IDEA what the Bush Doctrine was?! It was plain on her face she didn't. I like that she's getting the hard questions, WE WANT to know considering we have 7weeks TO DECIDE if we are going to put her in the number 2 position.

  43. 343

We may differ on this issue Squirrel, don't forget the things we have agreed on not to mention the things we have yet to discuss ;)
Even if we differ, atleast the mutual respect is there I just wish more people stated their opinion w/o resorting to slapping each other in the face b/c then all walk away not considering the arguments of their fellow Americans.

  44. 344

Re: MINXLIVES – post363- Did that interview scare you too? She's lost without a script. And Mr. Gibson had to rephrase several questions. She didn't know what the Bush Doctrine was and I'm now convinced, more than ever, that she is not capable of being VP. Or President!!

  45. 345

Poor Obama, he knows that McCain will/is beat him out, so he is trying to get support overseas. Psstt… Obama! If they are not US citizens their vote does not count!!! IDIOT!! People! Listen, remember '04? Everyone though Kerry would win, that he had it tied up because all the celeberties backed him? But you under estimate us GOP members. Just because we are not in your face, and we are reserved we OUTNUMBER YOU!!! McCain dose not need to be on SNL to try and get votes. Have a little self respect Obama! Yeah, that is someone we want in the White House, a guy that appears on SNL! Whatever. McCain/Palin '08!!!
