There's a difference between keeping peace and diplomatic ties and a very clear finger on the pulse of nations who are potential threats and threatening with flat out war and invading them, or actually doing so based on lies and all the wrong reasons!
I wonder if you'll still feel safe when they keep provoking Russia with mention of war and invasion knowing they have nuclear weapons! I'm not saying Russia shouldn't be held to it's duty, responisibilities and held accountable for it's actions, but diplomacy in the long run is always better then just throwing bombs. Yes, Russia is running absolutely amok these days. Every day in the news they are up to more and more shenanigans. Yesterday it was invading Georgia, the day before that it was threatening Poland with nukes because we are helping them with a stinkin' missle shield. Today it is that they MUST stake their claim to Arctic resources. They go around POISONING everyone they disagree with, ask Ukraine. Yeah, I seriously think we're going to be able to talk them out of it. But, if anyone COULD talk them out of it, it's John McCain. Why? Because he is not an empty suit. Russia respects power so they need to know that when diplomacy fails, we have a president who is not too squeamish on the war question to use other options.

They were really rude.
People have been using that "lipstick" quote all over the internet in reference to Sarah recently. McCain used it in March. The "offensive" part isn't in the "pig" comment. It's the lipstick reference. It has new meaning now, after that was one of the more memorable lines from Palin's intro to the country. It was a line that probably should have been avoided. Not that big of a deal, but still in poor taste.
And Elisabeth was right in telling the world about Michelle Obama's list of demands. Why is it that she's allowed to avoid topics and questions, but anyone related to McCain does it and they're seen as "avoiding the issues"?

In America sadly it seems so yes. It's odd the entire world doesn't seem to have the same feelings. I know it's none of our business and it's up to the US to choose it's leader. But the world does watch closely which leader the US choses, since the current republican president has plunged the entire world into war, killed the economy, weakened the world's most important currency the dollar, made oil prices sky rocket and thus affecting thousands of people losing their jobs, ignoring environmental problems and refusing to discuss or debate about social and ethical issues such as abortion, stemcell research, homosexuality and euthanasia.
It's not weird that the world hold's it's breath to see if the US people will vote for a man who'll continue the current policies, or if the US people want to chance and have a new face and image put upon America, a sign of a different era with a strong and vital man as it's leader. It's even more weird that the US at this point still back McCain as much as they do, since looking at things objectively with all information in mind, voting republican doesn't make a whole lot of sense right now, watching the state the country and world is in right now.

The "Ladies" of the view, if you want to call them that, did not "rip J.M. a new asshole." They made asshole's of themselves. I was completely appaled at Whoppie and Barbara's behavior today and can't say I will be tuning in anytime soon again.
To Barbara: if you are going to interview someone of that stature you could show enough respect to let them finish answering your questions before you attempt to cut them off with your rebuttal. No class.
To Whoopie: Come on…slavery…REALLY…you were NEVER a slave and live a more comfortable life than a lot of people. That was a VERY intelligent thing to say to our next president. Have some respect for a man who was virtually a slave when he was a POW.
To Cindy: Way to shut Barbara up with her petty comment about how many houses you and John own. It is NOT part of the campaign, and you just showed what a gracious and eloquent first lady you will be.

First off, Barbara was horrible and lost all credibility as a journalist. She couldn't even look him in the eye. Joy of all people was a better interviewer. The crowd seemed to clap for his statements many times over. So if you think that was a slam dunk for liberals, think again. I didn't like him so much at first, but McCain impresses me more and more with his off the cuff remarks. I wish Obama would take him up on the town hall meetings. But since there is no prompter, he probably should stay away.
This interview was absolutely disgusting!! They kept interrupting him and not giving him a chance to answer. And slavery Whoopi. . . . are you serious? They should all be ashamed. They had Barack on and talked about him being related to Brad Pitt and his shoe size! Now they had McCain and drilled him with awesome questions, but didn't let him answer. They didn't get somewhat respectful until Cindy came on. And the house question?! Let's talk real estate with Obama and his crooked, criminal partner!! UGH. Bottom line though, is McCain was classy, dignified, and respectful. The man still has my vote!!

I watched the interview if you want to call it that. I'm impressed with McCain and his wife. They were gracious despite being interrupted or being asked stupid questions. Barbara Walters bringing up the house thing was just stupid. I loved Cindy McCain's answer, good for her. Her father worked hard to provide for her and when he died she was blessed enough to be able to live a comfortable life. Who cares how many houses they have, they can afford it. It's no secret they contribute tons of money to charities and always have. It's common knowledge McCain donates some of his senate salary and his book monies to charity and has for a while. At least they GIVE of some of that money and in Cindy McCain's case she gives of her time as well. I can't believe Walters brought that up, they would never question a celebrity or rapper who had several homes. Geez.

Any time they asked him to just answer the question instead of running around it like a dog chasing his tail, he would try to change the subject, and a couple of times succeeded.
The first part about his ads and the untruths in them and then him saying that they weren't lies totally angered me. I try to listen to both sides equally fair (although I am voting for Obama), but he really makes it difficult to do so.

I think you missed the point of what I said in my post. I said that they should hand her more respect, or rather equal respect. The whole mainstream press should. Have enough respect to discuss the issues. For example, Charles Gibson was more shrill than I have ever seen him with her and condescending. Ask her questions on the issues and try not to show the bias. I was a reporter. Therefore, when I was interviewing someone, regardless of my opinion of them, I ask them questions the same way I would someone I agree with. The women of the View attacked them. Go back and watch a clip of Michelle Obama on the show, the tone was a lot different. Women journalists or commentators, you would think, would at least show another woman equal respect. And they did not. That's the point.
Also, if you want to know about Barack Obama, ask a resident of Illinois. I am. I'd be happy to tell you about his record. It is truly an embarrassment.

A war they themselves have later had to confirm was started based on lies and false information which they presented to the American public as facts to scare them and get them to agree in supporting this war. Iraq had no ties with Al-Qaida and had no weapons of mass destruction. Everyone knew this, researchers proved it, yet the Bush administration used every opportunity they had to tell people that Iraq WAS dangerous to the US, when there never were threats. The grounds for that war were false and the "war on terror" was used as an excuse to invade that country. A country where throusands of innocent people have now died, both military troups and Iraqi's!

There simply is no time to "give her the benifit of the doubt". She has a serious chance at becoming president. If she can't handle some tough questions on talk shows in her own country, then how are we supposed to have faith in her possibly running one the world's leading nations. Now is the time for everyone to be tough on her, just as they are tough on every single candidate. Yes, certain media might be more liberal, some might be more conservative, but the time is now to test these people and see what they are made of. You wouldn't want to find out what someone is made of when they are already sitting in the oval office with the nuclear codes in their hands!
Re: jamminjammin – I'm dutch and I for one did an independant test online where you can choose between statements made about all sorts of topics without who made which statement and the survey pointed out that I agree with the democratic party in 89% of their ideas. I've researched both candidates and read their political ideas and have come to a conclusion that Obama would be the man for me. To suggest that everyone who supports Obama does so because of celebrities rooting for him is ridiculous!
You might be able to say that a lot of celebrities are more liberally minded people who might have a tendency to vote for democratic candidates then more conservative minded people.
