Thursday saw part one of Charlie Gibson's interview on ABC with Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin.
And, it turns out that ABC took in some high ratings.
People are really fascinated by this Palin chick and what she has to say - or not say!
According to the Nielsen Media Research, World News With Charles Gibson averaged 9.7 million viewers and a 2.5 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 on Thursday.
That's the highest viewed episode since last February.
ABC News' Nightline even outdid The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and David Letterman's show in the ratings.
Even ABCNews.com got a huge boost in traffic thanks to the set of interview clips they had up there.
They got 3 million page views, including 600,000 streaming videos for the interview.

First and foremost - She is running for VICE PRESIDENT! Why is sooo much attention being turned towards her? She is unqualified and I will refuse to live in America if something happens to McCain and she becomes president - IF IF IF they win the election. I must have missed all of Obama's foreign policy experience that happened in 156 days of his Senate job.
It must have happened during his tour of our "57" states. If Palin or any Republican said we had 57 states, you'd never hear the end of it.
At least Palin got to her position on her own, not like Hillary who had to get there by being married.

Again, I know you're only for fetus versus adult rights, but it's over the top. It's not as simple as, he wants babies to die. But I forgot–Republicans only see things in black and white. There are no shades of gray. In other words, thinking too hard is seen as a bad trait. "Don't hestitate, don't blink, don't think." Bullshit lies! Abortion is being abused a political point. Fact of the matter is that abortion is a final means, a choice taken very carefully with medical staff based on thourough research and consideration based on grounds for abortion (teenage pregnancy, rape, abuse, etc). Sarah Palin is lucky enough that she has a chance to support her daughter and make sure the girl has a chance to finish her education and have a chance in life. Fact is that millions of pregnant teenage girls aren't that lucky. Who's lives are ruined because of getting pregnant. And you know what, McCain and Palin regard sexual education as a bad thing. The one thing that can educate young girls on birth control and the risks and consequences of having sex, they do not support! Educate people on sex and they will not make stupid deicions and mistakes and need abortions as a means of birth control! THAT is the point in Obama's statements!

I'm glad to see the numbers. People care in this election so I'm glad to see everyone checking out what she has to say about the issues of the day.
She needs to do lots of interviews between now and the election to let the public to get to know her.
Last night she convinced me that she does not have a good grasp of foreign affairs. but she gave it a good try–she'll an able politician and well tutored by the big oil lobbyists that run he campaign.

Although she struggled with giving Gibson the answer he wanted, I thought the answer she gave covered the bases. This is minor though. She will be ready for Biden on 10-2. I think most people will give her a break if she flubs a little because she recovers well and is poised when she's a little rattled. I thought she came off cool and in control in what I've seen. Charles Gibson proves he's a tool.
