Adrianne Curry's "Controversial" Comments About Hurricane Ike

Here's something to chew on!

Adrianne Curry just posted the following on her official blog:

"September 14, 2008 - Sunday

Hurricane Victims pay for their own rescues?
Current mood: aggravated

I am sorry, but I believe all these people should have to pay the bill for their individual rescues! When they issue a "certain death" warning and you are fucking dumb enough to stay, you do not deserve free aid. I watched people being interviewed on the news claiming they bought a bunch of beer and BBQ to sit through the storm. I bet these same people are crying for help as I type. This is fucking stupid! Why should we have to foot a dime for these dumbasses that ignored these warnings?

FREE transportaion was provided, many buses left half empty. FREE shelters were provided, many not filled up. People value MONEY and POSESSIONS more than their own lives? IDIOTS!

I feel like we reward stupidity in this country, and this is the perfect example of it. What do you guys think?

edited note:: I never said they should DIE, I said if they value their MONEY and POSSESSIONS more thn their own LIVES they should have to pay for endangering the lives of rescue workers, and sucking up more money this government DOESN'T have. someone claimed they didnt want to lose their job…I wasn't aware the bank was open that day!"

What do U think about what Adrienne has to say?????

I'm not a fan of hers… at all… but she does have a point. If rescuers get hurt/killed, the people who have to be rescued are to blame.

  2. 102

i'll go one step further than her. If you are a parent of a young child, and you stay in the face of those kinds of warnings becaue you want to protect your stuff, your child should be taken from you, and you should go to jail.

  3. 103

I can't stand this witch…she is just aggravating.

SADLY she is CORRECT!! I live in FLORIDA CITY..if I am told to GET OUT, then I GET OUT…if someone is stupid enough to stay behind, I should not have to foot the bill to rescue them.

  4. 104

As wrong as a time to say it, she's right. If they tell you to leave, you leave. I love hurricanes, but if I was in Galveston, I'd be gone.

  5. 105

Dumb cunt. Tax dollars pay for people in the area no matter what. It costs more to bus everyone out, put them in a shelter and feed them, have them stay in the shelter for weeks until their homes are safe to return to, and then bus them back.
It's not just hurricane victims that tax dollars are paying for … floods, fires, tornadoes, blizzards, landslides … Our tax dollars pay to help them all.

Bitch really shouldn't complain though, she makes enough money where she's paying less in tax dollars than the guy making $30,000 a year in South Texas that can't afford to move somewhere safe.

  6. 106

    100% AGREE

  7. 107

she's sorta right, stupid people, but they don't have to pay for there stupidity right? look at her, she makes money of it

  8. 108

I agree with her 100%. You wouldn't have to tell me twice to get the fuck out of there.

  9. 109

i agree with her completely 100% i live in miami and you can believe if someone told me that a hurricane was coming and told me to leave because of it (its never happened) you bet i'd fucking leave. they're dumbasses for staying so screw them.

  10. 110

Oh and here in hell aka Arizona, if the streets are flooded and you're dumb enough to get stuck, they will charge you for your rescue. There's even funny commercials about it.

  11. 111

I don't like her, but why didn't they evacuate?

  12. 112

This is extremely sad. I am from Houston. My apt. has no running water or power, luckily my parents house does. I understand that many of you feel some people made a poor choice by not listening but you will never understand unless you have been thru a hurricane. Many people did not leave bc shelters wont allow pets, I love my dogs so much and i would never leave them behind. Also, whats done is done, yeah they should have left but they didnt now more than ever we need to band together to help them. Just because they made a poor decision doesnt mean they should drown or be stuck there and regardless their houses would still be destroyed even if they left. I cannot believe someone would be so heartless when they have NO IDEA what is really going on here. You cannot believe everything you hear on tv. All those celebs cry and whine about the tabloids spreading rumors well the news is not freaking different, they highlight the bad things bc thats what people want to see. I hope everyone around the country can keep all of us here in the Houston/Galveston area in their thought and prayers bc we are having an extremely rought time right now and anything you can do to help can make a huge difference

  13. 113

I talked about the same subject with some friends yesterday, we all have the same view on this. We totally agree with her.
Why would anyone want to stay? A job? Do you really have such an amazing job that you would die for it? I doubt it, so get the F*CK out!
Now other people had to risk their lives to save your sorry selfish ass.

  14. 114

Re: Jennifer Garza – That is why you are supposed to evacuate!

  15. 115

I'm sorry to say that I do agree with her (with the exception of people under special circumstances -sick, elderly, etc) Although it may not be "politically correct" at the end of the day she pretty bang on. I too read the story on CNN.com of the couple who "slept in" and then in the middle of the night was swept away. The only thing that saved them was the fact they went to bed with lifejackets on, and that at the last minute they were able to jump out of their house as it fell down around them, clinging to their staircase as it was swept away. Yes, I feel for them, but in the end 1 word explains it: Duhhh! Mental note: if you feel the need to go to bed in a lifejacket, most likely you should have high tailed it outta there days ago when it was available.

  16. 116

    that chick is a moron.

    117

I am from New Orleans, and what most people don't understand is EVACUATING costs money….people don't want to use government services if they technically don't have to….adrianne why dont you getting on one of those greyhounds and bunking up in a church gym in Baton Rouge?

My parents evacuated for Gustav and spent over 1,000 dollars on gas and hotel and expenses.

    And that was for nothing.

If Ike had hit New Orleans, my parents would not have evacuated because it would have cost them way too much money.

YOU HAVE NO ROOM to speak.

  18. Anonymous says – reply to this

    118

I CAN understand where she is coming from. It IS difficult to feel sorry for so-called civilized ADULTS, who choose to stay in the vicinity of a catastrophe, rather than seek proper, and LIFE-SAVING shelter. AND, yes…those who chose to stay DID, in fact, endanger every rescue worker. And, they SHOULD be held accountable.
If I was able to hear about the warnings and evacuation alerts (and, I live up in Central, Wisconsin), then those who are/were in direct danger should have been able to hear them, also.

  19. 119

while her comments are understandable, they are a little uneducated… the houston area experienced 11 deaths from the rita evacuation and 0 deaths from the hurricane itself, so many people felt wary to heed the warnings again.

they should have evacuated, yes, but as a person who spent 25 hours alone in the car to get to austin from houston 3 years ago, i can understand a bit better than a celebrity why people didn't evacuate…

  20. 120

surprised Perez, that most agree with her? What I don't like IS that I agree with this person who would never be on tv if not for 300 channels to fill. Rescuers risk their own lives for others' stupidity. Healthcare persons risk their lives by not being able to leave the area. In the north, in some areas, if you go mountain climbing or do winter sports when the weather advises against it, people are getting charged for the cost of rescuing them. Doesn't give back the lives of rescuers who become victims themselves. Next, got to get those moron 'weather' people who must stand out in the storm in order to broadcast 'it's raining, it's windy' duh

    Re: Alison Marie

do you understand how much money it costs a person to evacuate? During Gustav my parents spent over 1,000 on gas hotel and food.

dumb ass idiots have no room to speak if you have never had to deal with it.

  23. 123

even though she is right that people shouldnt have stayed she doesn't have to be a fucking bitch about it. i live in pearland, which is right outside of houston and houston was hit pretty hard by this.. who cares if they should have left or not.. they need help and instead of talking shit about everyone they could be out here helping the same way the people of houston helped during Katrina..

  24. 124

Wow, this crazy pothead actually makes sense!

  25. 125

    She is completely right.

  26. 126

I am from an area not directly hit by the hurricane. We live approx 250miles East of Galveston Tx, where the Hurricane eye hit. I also live approx. 65 miles from the gulf coast. We were not under a mandatory evacuation….I REPEAT WE WERE NOT UNDER A MANDATORY EVACUATION. The house next door to mine is about 10 feet under water, should they have to pay for being rescued? The storm surge was never expected to reach our area. I agree that people under a mandatory evacuation MUST leave. But what about those citizens that were not under a mandatory evacuation. We have been hit by two hurricanes in the past 3 years. Rita and now Ike. This strom created a disaster area. If you would like to see some pictures of what it did to our area, THAT WHICH WAS NOT UNDER A MANDATORY EVACUATION, please go to www.kplctv.com and see for yourself. I would like MS. CURRY to experience what we have, and then leave a pithy comment like that. SHE IS IGNORANT and has no idea what we have gone through.

  27. 127

I hate to a agree with Adrienne, but she's right. I live in Texas and the news was showing the half empty buses & interviewing people refusing to leave. I agree people should have to pay for their rescue.

  28. Bambi says – reply to this

    128

actually I kind of agree with her they were given fair warning

  29. 129

    Agreed.
    -
If they are told to leave and choose not to
then they should be responsible for themselves.
    -
No one else's life should be risked because of their bad judgment,
and no one else should have to pay for their bad judgment.
    -
The destruction is going to cost taxpayers enough — we shouldn't have to cover this too.

  30. 130

I do think it's a touchy subject. It's not easy to come up with money to drive away or figure out where to stay. People really don't want to have to get on the buses and stay in shelter. I agree that if they were given plenty of warning and still choose to totally ignore all options, then they either should not be rescued or if they are, having to give a very good reason why they stayed to not be charged. I know there is always some reasons that would make sense that no one can think of themselves, but saying it's cause your got "hurricane fatigue" cause of Gustav is a very weak one.

  31. 131

let's say this… the people who were stupid enough to ignore the warnings should have been left there. this country should use the golden opportunity to thin out the part of our population lacking the brains required for self-preservation. you know what they say… survival of the fittest… if we fit ones keep saving the unfit ones… you get my drift

  32. 132

She definintely has a point. Rescue aid was provided, free of charge, prior to the arrival of Ike. What could you possibly do to safeguard your property when there are 120 mile/hour winds? Seriously. I saw on the news one couple crying over their dog who was swept away by the surge. If your puppy meant that much to you, why did you not leave and protect your pet while you had the chance? That's just irresponsible!

  33. 133

Re: lily19 – lily… our thoughts and prayers are with you

  34. 134

Is she a Republican? Her and Sarah Palin should hang out!

  35. 135

I completely agree with her!! My fiance and I were having this same discussion earlier and both agree. If they were dumb enough to stay (after all the warnings) and now need rescued, they should pay.

  36. 136

    i agree with her completely

  37. 137

    Ha! She speaks the truth

  38. 138

    I agree completely.

  39. 139

I agree with what she had to say. After Katrina, people learned to listen to the warnings. If you didn't leave, or thought you were "invincible", you're stupid.

  40. 140

    Agree.

  41. 141

She's right. If you had the money to leave and were able to physically but didn't then yeah you are a fucking idiot and deserve to pay outta your pocket. If you are poor and couldn't then that's understandable. She's only mentioning the people who have money and could of left once warned but stayed because they wanna chill.

  42. 142

Wow. I live in Austin and have family in Houston and I have to say, she is completely misinformed. First of all, the only city that the "certain death" statement applied to is Galveston (and surrounding suburbs). If everyone in Houston got in their cars and headed toward central Texas, the normally 3 hour drive to Austin would have been about 12 hours- I know this because everyone evacuated during Rita and this was the case. Therefore, most Houstonians chose to prepare for the worst but stay at their homes which worked out just fine for most people. Adrienne is NOT from Texas–Texans are trained to know what to do with hurricanes.

    143

I may not be in a 'flood plain', the average tornado 'route', etc….but, I do fear losing my most valuable possessions in a fire.
I keep all of my most valuable possessions (my marriage certificate, my childs birth/confirmation certificates, a record of ALL of my insurance documents, the film negatives (of my favorite photos), etc. etc, etc….I keep in a safety deposit box at my bank. It costs me $12 per year…and, it is WELL worth the added insurance/cost. For my pet cat, Sam, I keep a sticker on my door…telling all of the firefighters that I have a BELOVED cat that needs saving, in case I am not at home, at the time.

  44. 144

Re: jenchemE – i think it was very clearly stated that we were talking about the mandatory evacuation areas. if you don't know it's going to happen, that's disaster. but if you knew it was coming for a week, and you were given a way to escape certain death… and you didn't? idiot!!! drown, fucker!

  45. 145

Re: madmen – Loved it! I sent the link to a few people. Thanks!

  46. 146

I actually agree with this wanna-be super model for once.

  47. 147

Wow, I actually agree with her…

  48. 148

She's right. I can't believe I agree with her, but damn she nailed it.

  49. 149

As dumb and irritating as she can be, she actually has a point with this. If everyone had fair warning of the storm and the means the evacuate, there is no reason to stay (with a few exceptions). Why endanger the lives of rescuers just because you decided to defy nature?

  50. 150

Hell yeah! I TOTALLY agree. I live in Austin…I'm not partial to Texans, and those people are f**king IDIOTS! They deserve what they get…especially after all of the warnings! MORONS!

  51. 151

Although I love her, not all people of the means or the ways to evacuate. We all can't be as privileged as Mrs. Curry.

  52. 152

This so called "celebrity" is right. How sad for people to risk their lives to save stupid people who don't want to save themselves in the first place. They will be the ones that blame the govt for not rescuing them fast enough or doing more for them.

  53. 153

she needs to be cooter punched!!!!!!!!!

  54. 154

i agree………if people choose to live where they can see the ocean and enjoy its beauty, then they have to be prepared mentally that the ocean can see them and they have to learn, sometimes the hard way, that that also includes four months out of the year where you have to be ready to pick up your shit and leave - - - NO MATTER how small the storm….period.

  55. 155

I so agree! And Penelope Palin u r funny!

  56. 156

    i agree 100%

  57. 157

JENCHEME is right, alot of the areas here, we were told to STAY PUT and to let the ones who needed to get out to get out. WE WERE TOLD TO NOT GET ON THE ROADS so we can let rescue crews into the city. Should we pay for our own rescues and clean up? Many people on Galveston have lived here for years, some 50 and 60 years and they know the area and they know their homes. To all of my neighbors in Houston and surrounding areas do not let this ignorant whore get to us, we know what it is like and no one else can possibly imagine unless it has happened to them. We know we have to help each other and not let stupid worthless people who are famous for having no talent and doing nothing make us angry. JENCHEME you and your family/neighbors are in my prayers and we are all going to make it thru this and come back better, keep your head up.

  58. 158

Would you want to get on a "bus" and have this government be responsible for your life and there-after? Ha, I think I'd rather die in the Hurricane. Not really, but you say what I'm saying. The poor are herded into arena's that are really as unsafe as the hurricane itself.

  59. 159

I think she is 100% correct.

  60. 160

this is harsh, she has probably never been in a situation where you're really have to think twice. People always hope that a hurrycane can be less violence than what is expected, they also fear to be robbed, they sometimes insanely wants to face nature with what they consider as a lifetime project:their house.
during these phenomenon there is only 2 big things to face : too scared to leave or two scared to stay.
Texan people were not dumb or suicidal, they were maybe just scared !

  61. 161

She is absolutely correct. American politicians and individuals seem to have an attitude of self-importance; like the government owes them something, or that they are just one, and it won't be noticeable on the large scale. When you pay your taxes, you get something for your money; you get roads, and hospitals and parks and policing. If every politician and individual believed that they could be the one stand-out to get something extra, then not only are they wasting tax dollars that are needed for important programs (which you might need some day), but also, you end up taking more money out of the tax base than you have going into it.
    :l
Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.
    :l
    America = Primarily Selfish.

  62. vix says – reply to this

    162

I agree with her. Enough time and energy was put in to getting these people out of their homes BEFORE this thing hit.

How many times have you gotten angry over something in there news where some idiot drove their car across a street that was rushing with water and then they got stuck and had to be airlifted/rescued etc out of there? They're asking for it, they know the consequences… and consequently, they should foot the bill. especially for putting the lives of others in danger to save them

  63. 163

I'm impressed she used her last remaining brain cell to get this so right.

  64. 164

I TOTALLY agree. I get tired of my husband having to leave everytime a stupid redneck decides to be stubborn and "stand his ground". They disrupt the lives of people who put their world on hold to go and rescue them from their stupidity. My husband is there and who knows how long he'll be there for a few thousands idiots.

  65. wtf83 says – reply to this

    165

    SHe is 100% RIGHT!!

  66. 166

ADRIENNE IS A DOUCHEBAG, BUT IN THIS CASE, SHE IS 100% CORRECT.

AND THIS COUNTRY IS FAMOUS FOR REWARDING STUPIDITY. LOOK WHO WAS PICKED FOR PRESIDENT FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS. THAT'S THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF REWARDING STUPIDITY.

  67. 167

I agree! I work too hard to give all my money to people who don't listen!!!

  68. 168

i agree with her completely! the same should go for the fucking idiot hikers that go hiking in the dead of winter and get trapped in the snow or an avalanche and have to be rescued. if they are fucking stupid enough to go hiking in the winter and get trapped they should either have to pay for it or find their own way out of the situation. rescuers have died trying to save these dipshits.

  69. 169

I couldn't have said it better myself….this is the only country that people get rewarded for being an idiot!! or illegal…..you get the idea.

  70. 170

Many people don't have the money to evacuate but Mrs. Curry would know nothing about that…now would she? Leave judgment where it belongs! Judge not lest you be judged. Oh yeah, forgot that everyone already hates her. I actually like her but is it her place to say this?

  71. Bexs says – reply to this

    171

She's right. I was watching Fox News and I saw people on a cell phone at a bar getting drunk saying that they were going to ride the storm out and party. Now they need help. Its their fault that they put themselves in that position so they should have to deal with it.

  72. 172

why doesn't she go check out the shelters herself. they aren't too nice. And the bus trip to the shelters aren't pleasant. it's not like they're getting waited on during the bus ride and they stay in 5 star hotel. I saw a piece on the news where evacuees were saying they were getting sick from the port-a-potties and not being able to bathe or take showers. the only reason i leave for hurricanes is because i have somewhere else to go.

  73. exBFF says – reply to this

    173

the people who chose to stay are irresponsible morons and are now putting rescuers at risk.

  74. 174

and, a lot of places stay open till the day before the storm hits. you can't exactly evacuate DURING a hurricane, retard.

  75. 175

    For once….I TOTALLY AGREE!!!

  76. 176

    I agree. Well said.

  77. 177

If you get warned that a dangerous storm is on the way and you buy beer to watch….. Well then you are an idiot. If you had no warning, or couldn't make it to a bus stop(maybe many reasons you couldn't get there). I have to say I understand not getting out in time. She is right about people not getting out when they should. Some people want to sit with their stuff no matter what…. I don't knock this one at all. Also if you get a credit card to use for personal items and shelter. You really need to use it for that and not Louis Vuitton bags, or big screen tv's….lol…. Homeless people with kids using charity to buy a new pair of heel's or Nike's just kills me….. Buy your kids some clothes and food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  78. 178

    FUCKIN AY!!!!

  79. 179

This "pot head" is 100% right…

  80. 180

I agree with her! CERTAIN DEATH warning!! I mean what else do you need to be told to get the hell out?!

  81. 181

Re: barbara224 – too fucking bad about all the wetbacks. they aren't supposed to be here anyway.

  82. 182

Agree. But I think they SHOULD die.

  83. 183

how would you feel if you were one of those victims. If you had 5 cats and had no where to bring them. if your sick grandmother lives with you and she is unable to walk, would she deserve to be hurt because she didnt want to leave the home she built with her husband who passed away 2 years ago? she didnt want to leave the memories.. what about people like your grandmother

  84. Laury says – reply to this

    184

I totally agree with her. When the government issues a warning and asks people to evacuate, then you just get the fuck out of there. If you're dumb enough to stay, then take responsibility for you action.

  85. 185

Re: sssssteph – you are the ignorant one. if you had lived through a hurricane, you just might have the common sense to get out when they tell you to. did Katrina teach you nothing?

  86. 186

sssssteph [IQof12] says: she is obviously very stupid and ignorant
her input and opinion is not valued at all she is so dumb and doesnt even know what living through a hurricane is like so she should just shut up
    :l
How is her stupidity and ignorance obvious? It is not obvious to me; although yours is.
    :l
Her input and opinion is not valued at all? Well, I see a lot of post here agreeing with her. She doesn't sound dumb either; she sounds like a person with common sense on an issue of stupidity.
    :l
I don't think living through a hurricane gives you the necessary tools to form an opinion regarding the wasting of tax dollars, or the unnecessary danger imposed on rescue workers.
    :l
I do agree with you on one aspect of your final point - and that is that somebody should be shutting up.
    :l

  87. 187

    girl makes a good point

  88. 188

I agree actually. If you are dumb enough to ignore the warning and NOT take the free ride and shelter offered, they you have gotten what you deserve and the federal aid SHOULD NOT apply to you. You know the risks, and you risk our emergency workers lives for YOUR stupidity.

  89. 189

I do agree with her. I also feel that if you plan on living in an area that "might" get hit by a hurricane then you need to have a hurricane disaster savings account in case you need to leave for some reason. Just like up here for storms we have tornado survial kits, and winter storm gear. I have flashlights on the ready. Well if you can't afford to evacuate from a hurricane then there is no reason for you even to live in a state that could get a hurricane.

  90. 190

    i completely agree with her

  91. 191

I completely agree. They were given the oppurtunity to leave, but they didnt. People were interviewed saying they wouldnt leave because they invested too much on there house/possessions. Seriously… is that more important than your life?! Now it's pretty much there fault.
    Good luck to them.

  92. 192

Yeah Okay I live in the gulf coast. We had literally and I kid you not 2 hours to leave our homes. On Thursday I got a call from my daughters school saying we had a hour to get her from school. By the time I went to go and pick up my other daughter the national guard and fire department were driving us around telling us to get out. We did and thankfully we were able to find somewhere to stay but this is the second time we have had to flee in 2 weeks. I'm a single mother with a good job and it was seriously fucking hard for me. So Adrianne enjoy your fucking boobs and your nasty comments to yourself. Or how about come trade my life and loose it all under 15ft of water and be homeless and see what you have to say.

  93. 193

I can't say I'm fond of Adrianne Curry's piss-poor attitude, but for once, she DOES have a point. There could have been many more lives spared and kept out of harm's way if people just had common sense. Free shelters and evacuation plans? -I don't know how FREE all of this is, because the price of gasoline has spiked since the approach of hurrican Ike in the southwest… Anyhow, Americans do seem rather selfish and foolish to stay behind because they don't want to leave their homes, but then they'll cry for help the second they realize how much of a mistake they made.

    Ugh.

    -z-

  94. 194

I agree. If people knew the hurricane was coming (and everyone should have) and were told to leave (but didn't), then they are just stupid. They shouldn't be asking for help.

I totally agree with her! That was my thought exactly when I heard all of these people complaining and crying out for help when they were the idiots that refused to listen. It is called Darwinism - survival of the fittest. We need a few less of those people in the world anyways…

Iced Vovo [23] says: "…I know the US is a free country, but it shouldn't be free for the stupid people."
    :l
LOL ~ free country means free as in "Constitutional freedoms". It doesn't mean free as in "cost free".

They're crying for help because they ran out of their bbq and beer. Top it off with the fact that their toilets don't work (argh!), along with water and electric. They're shooting themselves in the foot now.

She is right, I couldn't believe it when I heard that people had actually stayed after being given that warning. Sorta like when you don't leave and a volcano is erupting right next to your house… "I'M NOT GONNA LEAVE MY STUFF, MAN!" or, "It's not going to be tHat bad, I can handle it!"

Unfortunately there are a lot of ignorant, stupid people in this world, and our country can't force them out of their homes nor deny them aid when they need it. All we can do is (enable) them so that it keeps on happening over and over again.

    blargh~

i'm not a fan of her's but she is soo right…they were warned, told to evacuate and even provided methods of evacuatioon…so if they were dumb enought to stay, then they shld be liable and PAY for their rescue bills!!

    SHE'S SOOOOOOOO RIGHT!!

Not a fan, but I agree. Same goes for people who live in "ternader alley"…
