I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.
I couldn't be more supportive of a woman in office, but let's face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.
Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?
I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be… Also interesting that she got her passport in 2006.. And that she is not fond of environmental protection considering she's FOR drilling for oil in some of our protected land…. Well hey, if she wants to drill for oil, she should DO IT IN HER OWN backyard. This really shows me her complete lack of real preparation to become the second most powerful person in this country.
Hmmmm-All of this gets me going-Fear, Anxiety, Concern, Disappointment, and Stress come into play…
Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?
I know that the most important thing about this election is that people need to exercise their right to vote, regardless of their choice… I would have liked to have remained impartial, however I am afraid that the "lipstick on a pig" comments will overshadow the issues and the fact that I believe Barack Obama is the best choice, in this election, for president…
Palin's Desire to "save and convert the gays"-really??
According to this Associated Press story, the church of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is hosting a kind of conference devoted to the "conversion of Gays" — no kidding.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) ? Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.
You'll be encouraged by the power of God's love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality," according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed since she was a child.
Palin's conservative Christian views have energized that part of the GOP electorate, which was lukewarm to John McCain's candidacy before he named her as his vice presidential choice. She is staunchly anti-abortion, opposing exceptions for rape and incest, and opposes gay marriage and spousal rights for gay couples.

I feel it's necessary for me to clarify that I am not against Sarah Palin as a mother or woman.
Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies… And its frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all of that.

If Obama's church preached against white people the way they did…imagine what they had to say about gay people, that's probably more in line with what BO really thinks if i had to venture a guess! Obama has said the same thing McCain has said whether we agree or not and they BOTH have said marriage "should be between a man and a woman". Personally, I'm more concerned with national security and the welfare of our citizens being attacked by terrorists than about gay marriage. That's just my view of what's more important to me. It's not to say I think gay people shouldn't be allowed to marry. I think it should be up to each state. For me this election comes down to who I feel has a better handle on the war and national security.

I LOVE when celebrities voice their political opinion. I can honestly say that I respect the fact that they feel so passionately about this election, but to try to persuade people to vote for the candidate they agree with is just ignorant. I am voting for McCain and have had tons of discussions with friends and family members about this election but our conversations stick strictly to a DISCUSSION about their politics, not on side trying to elicit a vote for their candidate. If Lindsay and Sam just stuck to voicing their opinion, as opposed to making fools out of themselves with their "little rant of vote OBAMA." I can say that I would not have chosen Palin as my first choice for VP, but I believe in McCain. Celebrities that simply voice who they are voting for is fine, but celebrities that act as though their life with come to end because their candidate may not win the election is just ludicrous.

#1 i support the reproductive rights of the individual. i do not think that you should be forced to have a child if you do not choose to. if you do not want to bear a child, you should have the legal option of terminating the pregnancy. you should also not be restricted from reproducing if choose to. in china, people were restricted from having more than one child and girl children were killed for it. therefore, i support a pro-choice platform… sarah palin is not pro-choice.
#2 i support equal marriage rights for all. i do not define marriage as solely between a man and a woman. while barak obama does not publicly support 'gay marriage'… he does support full civil equality that would afford the rights of 'marriage' under the law to same-sex couples and their offspring…. sarah palin does not.
3# i support freedom of religion and the protection provided to the individual against 'state sponsered religion' by the separation of church and state. barak obama supports the complete American separation of church and state… sarah palin's response to the question have been 'fuzzy' at best.

Re: Hmmmm – My parents are from the islands and I lived there as a child from the ages 1-6 and as a student at 18-20 years old. You'd be surprised how similar we've become. The abuse of power, the complacency of the people who want to believe their government, the staggering difference between classes, the religious freaks who preach but secretly molest children or commit adultery or make their teenage daughters who get pregnant have their babies and get married out of punishment for screwing around. They always get divorced a year later and that's when the girls really go buck wild and the child get's abandoned to the grandparents. Sounds very similar to our advanced culture? You will only really know your country when you see it from the inside out and from outside in. For that you have to live in another country not just visit a resort and eat at Burger King! It is important how the rest of the world sees us because we will be depending on them when we're no longer the #1 Empire and believe me when I tell you we're at the begining of the end if we don't change our politics.
P.S. Government is supposed to manage the country and the taxes ~ for ALL the people, regardless of race or religion; things like roadways, parks, hospitals ~ that everyone uses. Politicians have no right to even be discussing matters of religious principles, let alone enforcing them on the citizenship as a whole. McCain is not even a religious man. If he was, he would not lie, cheat and steal. The only reason he is bringing roe v. wade onto the election platform, is because he knows that most of the core members of the Republican Party consists of Christians, and promising to reverse roe v. wade is intended to keep them satisfied. When taxpayers have to pay for the education and lifetime care of thousands and thousands of unwanted and drug-addicted babies; what will the Republican Party do about that?
