The End Of An Era
Filed under: TV News > MTV > R.I.P.
After 10 long years, MTV's Total Request Live will soon be off the air.
Our home away from home is no longer!
On Monday, TRL exec producer Dave Sirulnick said that the final episode will take place on a Saturday afternoon in November.
However, he did make it a point to stress that the show wouldn't be over for good.
Hmmm…..
Mysterious!
Sirulnick said that now would be a good time to give the show a "break."
TRL originally debuted back in September 1998 and most of you probably remember Carson Daly hosting it.
He BETTER be on the final show!
And Nsync needs to reunite to say goodbye to TRL!
Sad.

I agree with some of the comments. Maybe getting rid of the show will make room for FNMTV. That was actually pretty good, but only once a week. I know reality tv gives the channel higher rating which means more money, but they should stick to the basics. Playing videos would be really cool. The thing is YouTube makes playing videos basically pointless. You also get free music videos OnDemand.
That's why I liked FNMTV. I really liked the live performances and how they took time for the music. I'm just tired of all these stupid shows, like From Gs to Gents or Top Pop Group. Even The Real World and all those Challenges have overstayed their welcome. I think this is a real opportunity for MTV to do something creative and make better shows. There are so many possibilities that I hope they change things up.
It's dead because there are no videos to request anymore! It's all crappy shows.
So now MTV will show absolutely NO music anymore.
Forget taking TRL off the air, MTV should go off the air all-together. Alls it is anymore is crappy "reality" shows. During the VMA's, I wondered how they could give out awards based on music videos when they NEVER show videos anymore. They should have the RTV awards instead.
This is not your mamas MTV….and it sucks.
No more Trendy Rejects live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carson Daily looks like he is been hitting the crack pipe too much.
MTV lost it in the late 80's/early 90's with all the shit shows they started whipping out…it's not been MUSIC TV in 20 yrs. Maybe if they got rid of all those shit shows and go back to music, it might be tolerable. lol Even tho I don't listen to any of this crap music anyway…still…give the young peeps what they long for
Nooo! This is so sad. I used to love this show back in the day.
Erm, and Hanson and Backstreet Boys!
www.mispersonality.com
bullshit
that means more pointless reality shows
wtf dude??
My, what big eyes you have Grandpa!
PEOPLE STILL WATCH TRL? no offense perez
MTV hit the jackpot when they stopped the crappy "music videos" and went reality. No one watched videos. They're for the birds
I remember when the original TRL showed all of the music videos, it declined when they let screaming fans speak while the video was playing and didn't even bothered to play the whole thing.
Good riddance, that show went down the crapper a long time ago. Also carson looks like he is totally wiggin on crack.
trl has BEEN done … for a while. MTV has been done !!
