Sweet Melissa - you are the reason people think Catholics are insane. I was raised Catholic in a city that is about 80% Catholic. I will tell you, that for the most part, we don't put a whole lot of weight into what the Cardinals have to say. The Cardinals in our area actually assist in keeping the diocese from collecting the money they need from the community. They just take it…just check out how rich the Catholic Church is…visit Vatican City and you will see it first hand. Smart Catholics know this. Thanks

Has anyone seen the video of the black protesters disrupting Obama's rally in Coral Gables, Fl.? He looked confused. How could anyone protest Obama? Black protesters at that. They were kicked out but not before making a big scene. I don't think I've ever seen anyone protest The One.
Get religion out of politics! Are people ignorant about Thomas Jefferson's intentions or do they just not care? Abortion is a medical issue, NOT a philosophical one.
And given Sarah Palin's views on sex education and birth control, a GOP victory will result in many, many, many more abortions (whether they are legal or not).

Studies have also found that the legality of abortions doesn't really effect the number of procedures performed, the change is actually seen in the mortality rates of the women having them. Meaning that if abortion is made illegal, the same number of women will choose to have them, but many more women will die, become ill or infertile as a result. Letting women die for their mistakes, weather you think that mistake is having sex, getting pregnant or having an abortion, is unchristian and by definition anti life. If we are serious about helping babies to be born, then we need to make it easier for mothers to get the financial, medical, psychological and educational help they need to make having a baby a gift rather than a burden. VOTE OBAMA.

and in ref to the article, Biden isn't "pro-abortion", he's pro-choice. And if they listened to the whole program, not just the bits that would anger a dried-up celibate bishop, Biden stated that yes, he was Catholic, and believed that life began at conception–but he also believed that he did NOT have the right to impose that belief on others of different faiths. He's just a politician that actually understands the meaning of separation of church and state, not a naughty catholic.

That decision was later overturned because people stood up and said that WHEN IT DEALS WITH HUMAN LIFE–PEOPLE DON'T GET TO HAVE A CHOICE. Remember it was the REPUBLICAN PARTY that ended slavery and it is still Republicans who will voice for the crime against the unborn.

Many Catholics are pro-choice, just as many Catholics choose to use birth control or read Harry Potter even though the papacy speaks out against it. This is similar to how there are some Republicans that are pro-choice or there are some Democrats who don't think gays should get married. Not everyone in a group has the same views, and that's okay!
I have great love for the Catholic Church but respectfully disagree in some of its views. I also think it is wrong to deny someone communion because of his or her stance on abortion. When a church goes to such great lengths to have everyone saying the same things, forcefully or otherwise, it begins to look fundamentalist, crazy.

But then again being a Christian and Catholic are different. Saying that you're a Catholic means that you have to be pro-life. The issue isn't about controlling women's reproductive body but protecting life.

i don't understand why Catholics are up in arms about this! So he's Catholic. He's also potential the VP, which makes decisions for all Americans, not just the Catholics. I don't understand how people can be such selfish voters. The church gets upset when politicians (or anyone for that matter) attempt to cloud the official position of the church. Biden and Pelosi both have done this in the past month. This prompts the church to correct these misstatements. What Biden and Pelosi did was blatantly wrong as these statements are meant to confuse Catholics. It's dishonest and I hope they are refused communion until they correct themselves.
