Tintin Panned

Filed under: Film Flickers > Old People > Business Blitz

stevens__opt.jpg

Is the shitty economy the real reason????

According to new reports, Universal pulled out of its Tintin movie partnership with uber film directors Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. The studio supposedly freaked when it was presented with a $130 million budget.

The duo are said to be scrambling to find a new partner.

Is a Tintin movie worth a $130 million budget?!

  2. 2

Ha HA I really was first! Why do I care?

  3. 3

    Who the fuck is Tintin???

  4. 4

Fuck Universal… I am now, (not reAlly) glad that their (well, that part of the) historic studio parts burned down (well… those a-holes are probably happy as clams, or maybe to blame~… mmm for insurance purposes…) a-holes!!! I cannot believe that they would do that to hIM! What shit-buttons!

  5. 5

Maybe they'll realize that Tintin doesn't need $130 million worth of CG and they might actually pare the budget down and USE the performances of the great cast they have lined up, instead of glossing over it with computers.

And Perez, baby, ignorant is NOT a good color on you. Read a Tintin book.

  6. 6

Dumbass Spielberg, he could'a had a winner if he'd named it Rin Tin Tin! Just damn.

  7. 7

He should do Brassbrass or coppercopper, then it might be worth it!

  8. 8

um, i care, and tintin is ttly worth it as you have like 30 books to create sequals from.

and honestly, if your gonna turn bs into bubbling shampagne, like disnet making theme rides into a trillogy of blockbusters, you gotta spend money to make money, plus erie fog in every shot costs alot right stephen>?

  9. 9

    Rin Tin Tin.

  10. 10

What kind of stupid fag wants to see a Tintin movie. People who like that shit should be gelded. Speed Racer is for fags to. All those Japanese cartoons do is make fun of Americans. Giant eyes and 5 year old girls with DD's.

  11. 11

Of course Tintin is worth that much money. He's Belgian! Come on!

  12. 12

Who cares? How bloated with money do these guys have to be before they retire from movie making? They've had their glory now give the younger ones a chance.

  13. 13

Hells no! Tintin?? Like that's a blockbuster smash waiting to happen….

  14. 14

Yeah. would you go to see a movie called TINTIN!? I think not. That movie will not make back that 130 mil, AT ALL.

  15. 15

Hell yea it's worth it… Tintin is freakin awesome.

  16. 16

    plz suck my dick!!!

  17. 17

if you didn't spend that kind of money on Tintin it would suck

  18. 18

Why are they making a TinTin movie? There are way better stories out there to go off of for a movie that would cost less and bring in more… sigh… hollywood… sigh…

Below are a few lines from Obama's books, IN HIS WORDS!
From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.' / 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.' / 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.' / 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.' / 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'
************'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'**************
    Hmmmm….a Muslim, a Bigot & a Racist…NO THANKS! McCain / Palin 2008!

    Re: PervertRe: cjatnacRe: JustynLiebert
It's not Japanese, it's from Belgium. Rin Tin Tin is a canine cop. Tin Tin is classic. The budget was high because it would have looked amazing. They were going to keep the art style and apply it to human looking characters. One $130 mil Tin Tin movie would be better than twenty of the other shit movies they're going to put out instead.

Perez, most of your readers are absolute morons. Why even post stories on topics that aren't on their mainstream radars?

  22. 22

130 mill for Rin Tin tin! hollywood needs to start feeling the pain of the economy too.

  23. 23

ITS A SPIELBERG MOVIE - WHAT DID THEY EXPECT?!?
    .
IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE!! IT WILL MAKE LOTS OF MONEY!! AND IT WILL BE GREAT!!

  24. 24

    Re: UGLY=PEREZ
It's Tintin not Rin Tin Tin…
If any of you don't know who it is just google it before you make retarded remarks.

  25. 25

hell no it's not worth $130 million! is anyone even planning to see this crap if it comes out?

  26. 26

Tintin is great, but Spielberg would just dumb it down and Disney-fy it.
No, he'd actually make it BORING, with some excuse
to cast Dakota Fanning and and Jonas brother.

    Re: JustSayin
Except the last fifteen Spielberg movie sucked!
But he just gets sentimental over-ration. overrated. over-rated
    He's over.
And all the ass kissing he can handle from hollywood suckups.

  29. 29

Hey Stevie, how about "Gnaws", a movie about the older brother of Jaws who lost most of his teeth and now "gums" his victims? Comedy horror flick! Can't miss. Just trying to help you out since you ain't done diddly in 10 years.

  30. Beej says – reply to this

    30

Worth it? Probably not. But you know Spielberg and Jackson love those special effects…

  31. 31

some things shouldn't be made into movies and Tintin is one of them. They need to just give up and not RUIN Tintin!

  32. 32

Re: cjatnac – You have no fucking clue who Tin Tin is, do you?

  33. 33

    Re: BeejRe: santa_mia18
I think this would've been really good. I'm confident someone else will greenlight it. With the way they were planning on doing this - I can't imagine that this wouldn't have gone over well. I at least want to see what they pitched as a proof of concept. I bet it looked fucking awesome.

  34. 34

A lot of Americans wouldn't even know Tintin, so the budget is too high for this film. It's not like Tintin is a Disney character. It would probably work in Europe, but there was a recent controversy about some of the old Tintin comments and racism, and to make Tintin 100% politically correct wouldn't work. Stephen Spielberg adaptations are terrible anyway…look at what he did to War of the Worlds. Who'd he cast to play Tintin? His boyfriend Tom Cruise?

  35. 35

    YES! Find the money!
