Quote Of The Day
Filed under: Quote of the Day > Politik > John McCain
"Whatever The New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization. It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor Palin, and excuses Senator Obama. This is an organization that is completely, totally, 150 percent in the tank for the Democratic candidate, which is their prerogative to be, but let's not be dishonest and call it something other than what it is. It is an organization that has made a decision to cast aside its journalistic integrity and tradition to advocate for the defeat of one candidate — in this case, John McCain."
- McCain senior campaign strategist Steve Schmidt

Re: Leona$ Gho$t – I knew her before. You did not. Neither did 99.9% of the people who feel qualified to comment. Not to mention that most of the "comments" are drivel, trash and rumors (or wanna-be rumors). Palin has done really good things for Alaska, at a time when we needed some accomplished and capable leadership. I read your posts; some amuse me, other disgust me. Usually I just shake my head at your constant need to babble on and on and on . . . trying to start new rumors. Just stop already - your type of posts are representative of the gossip-mongering crap that deflects Americans from trying to discover the gem of truth sometimes buried under the mound of garbage.

NUMBER TWO!
WHILE RIGHT-WING EXTREMISTS MAY ENJOY PUMMELING NANCY PELOSI WHO IS A QUOTE SAN FRANCISCO DEMOCRAT END QUOTE AND HARRY REID, A DEMOCRAT FROM SIN CITY LAS VEGA$, THEY EACH HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP ABILITY THAN THE REVLON "PLUM RAISIN" LIPSTICK WEARING PIG FROM ALASKA!!!!!

Waa waa cry me a river! You're in politics! What about CNN and Fox being so outrageously biased towards republicans? Those two news stations are the WORST example of legitimate journalism in all of history! Are you trying to say that McCain and Palin have never lied? If that's the case, tell Palin to stop saying that she said "thanks but no thanks" to the bridge to nowhere!
Re: hollyholly8 – #194
It's not that the NYT lacks credibility, it's that most conservatives feel it contorts the truth by the omission of facts. Most of what the NYT prints is true, but by cherry-picking what news and facts they do print it is perceived as being intellectually dishonest by conservatives. I know you won't agree with me, but I wanted to explain to you why most conservatives I know don't care for the Times.
not that i'm "pro-mccain" by any means, but this is absolutely true. anyone that says otherwise clearly doesn't read the new york times.
Re: Leona$ Gho$t – And so, LG, it appears that your response to my comment follows your customary pattern - more nonsense and drivel. There is a limit, dear, to the amount of time you can continue like this before people start to look at you a little strangely. After all, you're not communicating anything worth-while, and we're oh so tired of the same old crap from you. When you have something substantial to offer, feel free. Have a lovely day!
Umm HELLO!!! What about Fox News??? They do the exact same thing and you don't see the Barack camp complaining. Once Fox News stops calling Barack 'Osama' then maybe I'll take McCain a little more seriously.
Re: Charmer –
I love Palin, I think she'll make an excellent Vice President. She has done a lot in a short amount of time whereas Obama has done nothing with the time he has been a senator. Absolutely nothing of importance has this man contributed.
Re: arrora – Re: arrora – You really muct be just a Cool KID because if you actually followed politcs you'd know that the first Interview Palin gave was with ABC
yeah and where has she been since? They sure kept her under lock and key and won't let her speak one unscripted word. Doesn't that scare you? It does me? They even think she is unready to meet the American people!
Biden has give 204 interviews since his acceptance - Palin has given two - one to Gibson and one to the softball thrower Hannity!
In the Gibson we got those priceless lines:
Q"What foreign expierence do you have?"
A"I can see Russia from an island in Alaska"
Q"What do you think of the Bush doctrine?"
A"In what regards, Charilie?" (Translation - what the fuck is that?"
Come on we need a few more interviews from her - Tina Fey is gonna run out of good stuff. This "gal" is too funny! America needs a good laugh!
Palin=Cheney2
McCain=Bush2
Hide from the press!
Lie and spin and hide from prosecution!

Re: kjen – She certainly has done a great job for Alaska! I appreciate that she is not an "oh, I'm PMS-y, got a headache, need a nap" kinda woman. She's stood her ground up here, against Big Oil, the previously entrenched network, & the "acceptable" status quo. She has never forced her personal views onto her constituents, nor has she inserted them into her political life. I think that's commendable. We all hold our personal beliefs very dear - as you can plainly see by some of the uglier comments on this site - and so I can't help but respect someone who does the same, but doesn't try to force others to join her. I think many people, however, are uncomfortable with Palin - - she's strong, confident, agressive & determined - all qualities that are seen as stellar in a man, but less so in a woman. Oh well. Times, they are a-changin'!!
Oh right. Cause the McCain camp needs to spin the facts in order for McCain to look good. The facts are what will sink his ship - doesn't matter how the NY Times reports it. (ps - the best paper in the world.)
OBAMA AND HILLARY HAD MADE THIS RACE HISTORICAL BEFORE PALIN CHANGED HER MIND ABOUT THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE!

Obama has already changed the way this country will be run by challenging the status quo!

Re: Charmer – 213 Real great job? Your are so far up Palins ass you should be able to see her tongue!
She claims to be for the environment, yet the lake she lives on is DEAD!
She is suing Bush,BUSH, for putting the polar bears on the endangered list.
Palin may have said “Thanks, but no thanks” on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where she was mayor received lots of earmarks during her tenure.
Palin’s accusation that Obama hasn’t authored “a single major law or even a reform” in the U.S. Senate or the Illinois Senate is simply not a fair assessment. Obama has helped push through major ethics reforms in both bodies, for example.
The Alaska governor avoided some of McCain’s false claims about Obama’s tax program – but her attacks still failed to give the whole story.
And Palin continued to solicit federal funds as governor. A request form on Stevens’ Web site shows that she requested $160.5 million in earmarks for the state in 2008, and almost $198 million for 2009.
……..
MCCAIN MORE OF THE SAME!
EXACTLY; I AGREE COMPLETELY.
NEWSPAPERS USE TO BE GOOD FOR SOMETHING; NOT NOW.
Obama's not against producing more energy. In fact, he's not even against drilling for oil any more, within limits. He has a $150 billion clean energy program and says that he wants to develop clean coal technology, advance the next generation of biofuels, prioritize construction of the Alaska gas pipeline (surely a measure Palin agrees with) and take a host of other steps to both conserve energy and produce it, in various forms.
If Obama's comments about meeting with "terrorist states" are worthy of ridicule, then perhaps so are those of the Bush administration and other Republicans. Obama made his first statement on this in an answer to a video question at a Democratic debate last year, when he said "I would" when asked whether he'd meet "separately, without precondition" in his first year with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea. Reagan, JFK and other presidents had spoken to the Soviet Union regularly, he noted.
In a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in June, Obama elaborated, saying that he would take an aggressive diplomatic approach – carefully preparing for such meetings, setting a clear agenda, coordinating with U.S. allies, and not conducting the meetings at all unless they were clearly in the U.S. interest. He also stressed he would "do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon."
In recent months, the Bush Administration has been more open to beginning a dialogue with the same nations that it once referred to as the “axis of evil.” In July, the president sent a high-level official to Geneva to sit in on nuclear talks with Iran and authorized Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to speak with North Korean diplomats about ending that country’s nuclear weapons program. Reports in the Washington Post and the New York Times noted the stark contrast between the administration’s current position about meeting with “foes” and its attitude several years ago.
Further, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in May that we should "sit down and talk" with Iran. So did former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in March. As did Sen. Dick Lugar, then chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as far back as 2006.
Obama isn't worried, as Palin said, "that someone won't read them their rights" when it comes to suspected terrorists who are detained by the U.S. He does, however, support the right of detainees to challenge their imprisonment in federal court. That's the same position the Supreme Court took in June in a case called Boumediene v. Bush.

Re: sweetpiece #219 "Your are so far up Palins ass you should be able to see her tongue!" – - That's rich coming from you, who is so far up Obama's ass you don't know which end is up!
Re: sweetpiece – #221
Just TODAY Biden said they are against clean coal technology. That it's only good for China. Biden says, "NO COAL"!!!!
Re: Charmer –
Hey Charmer! You are soooooo just spinning your wheels here. People are pretty entrenched atm. That may change after the first debate, but probably not. I for one enjoy hearing from an Alaskan what Governor Palin has done for your state. I also enjoy hearing from those from Illinois on what Obama has done for their state (or, um, NOT done for their state). You guys are the experts. Unfortunately, if someone is predisposed not to want to listen, you can't help them. Donna Brazile already bragged that Obama doesn't need the blue-collar vote, or the middle-aged women vote. They are solely relying on the minority vote and the youth vote at this point. It's just pointless to argue with some of these people.
Re: sweetpiece – At no time have I stated that Palin is perfect, nor have I said that she (along w/ the rest of us, my dear) couldn't use some additional knowledge & training. However, even YOU cannot fault her for the condition of the lake her home is next to. It is patently ridiculous to even make the statement. Polar bears are just fine up here, thank you very much. They were already protected by Alaska State Law. Many places/projects (good & bad) have received or been slated to receive federal funds of some type, so that argument is bunk.
Re: sweetpiece – FURTHERMORE, I have continuously made a real effort NOT to become verbally nasty in any of my posts. YOU, as well as the majority of other Democratic posters, cannot say the same, unfortunately. Keeping in mind that I vote independently, if I was a new, young voter reviewing these comments, the ugliness of some of them would defininely make me think twice about going Democrat. Enjoy your week!
Re: sweetpiece – #222
Hahaha. THAT'S WHY TERRORISTS ENDORSE OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT.

Note to sweetpiece: I commend you for sticking to facts this time
so true!!
the media bias is insane!!
and so obvious.. even my husband, who cares about politics as much as brook hogan noticed it!!!!
Re: Smirks – You personally know terrorists and their opinions on American politics? That's wild!
Re: Smirks – Hi Smirks! Hope you had a great weekend - we didn't get the snow we were expecting yet, but it's coming! You are so right, but I feel compelled to comment when rumors and out-right lies are being touted as the gospel truth. I too enjoy hearing differeing points of view and learning about people from those closest - sure gives a new perspective, doesn't it! Unfotunately, cooler heads do not always prevail.
Re: Smirks – 226 Well good for Biden! Thanks for sharing that great piece of info! Personally, I am against coal and I am against many forms of biofuel.
Wind is the answer since it is documented, less sunlight is actually getting through the atmosphere even though we are heating up!
Scary shit!
…….
There is no way ever I will support Palin. In the past, I considered McCain the lesser of the evils representing the Republican party. Now however, it is clear he is just another puppet controlled by the same people calling the shots now. Palin is a pawn, a distraction of sorts to keep the plebs minds busy. They treat us like toddlers!

Obama isn't perfect but he is the best choice for making any kind of change to our failed system! I do not believe he is the messiah. But I do want him to be the next President of the United States of America!

Here's a quote from the Washington Times (there are many sources as well):
"Mr. Obama's campaign yesterday was forced to reject an unsolicited endorsement by the Islamist terror group Hamas as the candidate worked to reassure leery Jewish voters, and his supporters derided Wednesday's debate as unfair.
–
Hamas' top political adviser, Ahmed Yousef, embraced the Obama campaign Sunday in an interview on WABC radio, saying, "We like Mr. Obama. We hope he will [win] the election."
–
ALL media is democrat! Tell us something we don't know.
Re: Smirks – That is really ignorant of you to laugh at that! Torture is unacceptable. All the great minds, IN THE WORLD, believe diplomacy is the only solution. Obama has been clear he would do whatever it takes to control terrorists.
That does not make him weak but clearly the leader we need.

I applaud that you are getting involved in the political process for your candidate. It's commendable.

For you and some of my friends and family members who are voting Obama - if he wins, I hope you get what you want out of his presidency. If McCain wins, I hope I get out of it what I am seeking for America.

sweetpiece, it's just that I can't see diplomacy working with the likes of Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong Il (if he's even still alive) when multiple rounds of sanctions have already failed. Of COURSE diplomacy should ALWAYS be the first choice but what do we do when diplomacy and sanctions fail? Really… I'm interested to hear what you think we should do in that scenario.
Re: sweetpiece – Have you ever been to Alaska? This is the time of year when we generally get our first dusting of snow. Global warming has nothing to do with this. Good job, though, in attempting to take an innocent friendly comment and make it into a negative political issue.

Re: Sammy –
100% true, my friend. The media has been bought and paid for like a cheap hooker by the Democratic Party. When I watch television, I feel like I'm watching a huge propaganda machine. Sucks.
Re: lefty lady – No, they aren't anti-Obama. They just question and explore his past and voting record the way other news media should be doing. The guy is no saint, folks. Don't be brainwashed into thinking he's a reformer when his track record speaks otherwise. Please inform yourselves and don't believe the hype.

Re: hollyholly8 – WOW!!! Thanks for the age compliment. I am actually 43 and that pic was taken last year. I lived in Queens, NY (Briarwood) for three years after receiving my degree in Journalism/Advertising from San Diego State University in 1989. I had a subscription to the NY Times for about 6 months, and that was enough for me. I may have mis-stated overall 'integrity', but I was referring to their op/ed, which is blatantly liberal and completely out-of-touch with the majority of Americans. The attacks on Sarah Palin, in particular, are preposterous. If the media was bashing Obama–as they should–for his lack of experience, former affiliations (Ayer, Rev. Wright, et all) and the fact that he won his Senate seat by default, Dems would cry racism! It's a fact, it already happened to some degree. I say wait until after the debates to form a true opinion of Gov. Palin, who has the highest approval rating–by far–of any US Governor.
Re: Charmer – Yep, I'm just a happy person. I can't help it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: arrora – Who asked you?
Re: arrora – And isn't that just like a Republican to ignore everything else written and focus on one 'potential' flaw. I was trying to make a point.
Re: sweetpiece – Thanks. No doubt!!!!
Re: Smirks – Then you are also a blessed person, Smirks, by whatever diety you believe in (how was THAT for some PC verbage!!!!)
Re: Charmer – I fought cancer in my late 20's and won. I thank GOD I had private health insurance and not a government bureaucrat standing between me and treatment. What's not to be happy about? And that was amazing PCness… hehe.

Re: hollyholly8 – Oh, and I've been following politics since about 1976, probably before YOU were born. Just had to add that. Congrats on Columbia degree, that's the best school for Journalism, but not for ROTC….LMAO! Even the students think they should bring it back–as an option. What do you think?
Re: Smirks – Rock on w/ your bad self, Smirks!! Thanks for sharing your story - helps put things in perspective, doesn't it!! I'm outta here for the day, so enjoy your evening . . .
If you don't like it, don't read it. Simple as that..
What a bunch of crybabies.
I have to respectfully dissagree. Everything I see is throwing nerf balls at McCain/Palin in fear of offending the old guy and woman, while Obama is still fighting to explain that THOUSANDS of eager, non paid voters coming to see him speak isn't a bad thing.
Why shouldn't the media be excited. He's INSPIRED MILLIONS WORLDWIDE. The only thing that McCain/Palin inspires is my sensitive upchuck reflex and desire to text them the definition of the word IRONY.
Re: sweetpiece #242 – - How the fuck am I a racist sweetpiece? When have you ever read a racist post of mine? YOU HAVEN'T so PLEASE keep posting your posts but don't include me in there with those that truly belong in that group asshole.

Ummm, where did he make this statement? On Fox? Hello pot, I'm kettle. My, you look black today….
It seems to me that the McCain/Palin campaign are up in arms about the liberal media, yet unsurprisingly mum on the most flagrant partisanship IN the media. I have never seen a more biased 'journalistic' program than Hannity and Colmes. Alan Colmes is a saint, or a masochist. Either way…

I notice than when Obama supporters can't think of anything clever to say, they play that race card and start calling you "white trash". I would expect as much. You are just showing your stupidity.
I consider myself to be objective about the election and I have to say it is true. I've noticed even the local reporting is biased. Channel 7 political reporter, Dave Evans, bias was so blatant last week that it was almost shocking. I've noticed it with their other reporters as well and believe me it has to be very obvious for me to notice.
