McCain Suspends Campaigning - Wants To Postpone Debate!!!!

The situation on Wall Street is beginning to look so bleak that John McCain has called for a temporary suspension of his campaign in order to return to Washington and address the President and Congress.
He's also requested postponing the presidential debate scheduled for Friday.
Scared????
With this being one of the most explosive and expensive presidential races to date, McCain's decision could jeopardize his standing as debates are an important platform for candidates to express their policies and appeal to the public.
McCain explains himself thusly:
"America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, every corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen….
"It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration's proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.
"Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me….
"We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved. I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis."

But while McCain's announcement seems like a noble re-prioritizing, you have to wonder what happened to the "I don’t believe we’re headed into a recession” statement he uttered not too long ago, as well as his general stance on limited government business regulations.
The developing economic crisis is worrying and with folks' tunes changing and election time drawing close, things are getting tricky!
Obama has not yet responded.

Is it really necessary for him to suspend his entire campaign? That seems a bit rash. He can attend to matters while congress is in session without sending everything to a screeching halt. That's why you have campaign managers and aids to help you. He's not the only one involved here. There's no need to cancel the debates either. CNN reported his morning that congress would be reaching a decision by Friday. This sounds very fishy to me.

If mortgages in default is the problem (as they say it is), then the solution is to give money to the people that are being foreclosed on. Then they could pay their mortgage and the banks wouldn't have anything to whine about. Why should be give a trillion dollars to the assholes that caused this problem?
And if Banks and Brokers having their hand out isn't bad enough, now Chrysler Corporation is saying too many car loans have defaulted and they need a bail-out, too. This is bullshit.
If Mortgage holders could renegotiate their loans this would STOP dead in it's tracks.
If we could make deals with credit card companies to settle our debts this would stop now.
If we lowered taxes on everyone making less than 2M a year, and raised taxes on those who had profits of over $10 Million this would stop NOW.
If we left Iraq NOW we would add 10 Billion a MONTH to the Treasury.

This would be a shot for leadership in action for both of them to step up and get right in there with President Bush and take charge, actually do what they keep saying they will SHOW us by leading mother f'ers!!! Phil Gramm, his top economic advisor, who said we were all whiners, is the one who wrote the legislation that got us into the mortgage crisis with these swap mortage instruments, and the credit crisis! McCain's top guys got over $2million dollars in the past year right until last month! from Lehmans, AIG and Merrill Lynch. Of course he doesn't want to debate! He is a sanctimonious old hypocrite and a liar. Obama doesn't want Wall Street to be rewarded for bad behavior. He wants to protect main street. American taxpayers have to foot the bill while some corporate guys get billions of dollars in bonuses for bad behavior with no penalties. Treasury Secretary Paulson said just three months ago, our banking system and our financial institutions were healthy and everything was fine. He said that in all the newspapers and on Meet The Press. And he said it to Congress! So why should we suddenly believe all these people now?
