I think most people don't know this, but the McCain campaign is paying people to write stuff like that in/to newspapers. I'm betting somebody's pocket's got lined in exchange for writing that garbage. Talk me down if you want, but that's honestly what I think happened here.

Just so everyone knows - no one in SF reads the Examiner!!!! The Chronicle is the main paper and the Examiner is owned by a crazy Republican. This does NOT reflect SF by any means. Go Obama!!!!
In the age of liberal media, that's refreshing.
No one reads the SF Examiner, they're readership is about 1/4 that of the main paper, the SF Chronicle, which is about the ratio Repubs to Dems in the city–no suprise. I am a McCain/Palin supporter, but this is trivial.

I live in the bay area and seriously, this is FABULOUS!!!! This is unheard of because the bay area is so god damn liberal, I can't stand it! Finally a great newspaper reports HONEST facts about mccain, something the media hasnt done…besides FOX news.

Perez, I can't believe you didn't know that San Fran is going McCain. Some of the guys I know out there have never ever ever voted Republican but they are now. I think it says something for the well informed voters. I think people are realizing that being safe in our own country should be at the top of everyone's list. Most people see right through Obama. There just isn't much substance there to justify voting for him.

OMG I grew up in Berkeley and work in SF and always read the Examiner…well I USED to always read it. I'm officially never reading it again. RIDICULOUS!!!!
This is ridiculous. The Examiner is a questionable newspaper and is not the most popular newspaper in San Francisco. It is not widely read compared to the Chronicle. I think it would be wise to put a disclaimer noting that this newspaper does not represent San Francisco, because as you should know, the city would never endorse such a candidate. As someone from San Francisco, I am actually offended that I would ever be even thought of as supporting McCain. We are the city after all that elected Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House!

However, 'Smirks', and anyone else who is interested, you might be interested to know that one of McCain's campaign tricks is to have his staffers ghost-write fictional, over-the-top letters to editors, and having citizens in the area in various battleground states sign them. Staffers/citizens (it is a collaboration) are told to 'make up whatever you want, as long as it adds to the campaign'. Bush used this tactic in past campaigns. This is known as 'earned media', or faking the media. Fortunately California is already a blue state. So why should we worry about some idiotic printed material in a city newspaper? Who cares, really. I did think this information was worth sharing, however, with those of you who think everything you read is true. lol!
