The Bailout Bails Out

The government has agreed on a bailout plan to help save the floundering economy.
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just after news that a $700 billion bailout plan had been approved, reports say that subsequent talks deteriorated into arguing and disagreement.
So, on the heels of Washington Mutual's collapse, the country is still left without a plan of action and no relief in sight.
Scary times, y'all!
With Obama and McCain present at yet another meeting overseen by President Bush on Thursday, talks apparently descended into quarrels, with Bush unable to wrangle lawmakers. With opinions so deeply divided, folks actually wondered who would return for the resumption of talks later today.
Yikes!
Yesterday it seemed that parties had been able to put aside their agendas to focus on the American people and the looming recession. But, now, Democrats and Republicans are standing off across an even greater chasm, pointing fingers back and forth, and unable to reach a decision. It was actually White House conservatives who opposed Bush's bailout, but then conservatives wouldn't agree with liberals.
What a mess!
Come on guys! Get it together!

And for everyone still bitching about 'The Fundamentals of Our Economy are Strong" Statement…you never even listened to his Speech did you? Just answer me that first! Secondly it's taken out of context, the Fundamentals of Our Economy are strong, but unfortunetly Democrats believe in giving away free money, free loans, and thats why we're in this mess in the first place…the Fundamentals of Our Economy are built upon Hard Work, Not Taking what you cannot afford, and Not getting free handouts! If people had stuck to the Fundamentals of what our Economy has been built upon, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place!
The bail out would be one of the worst economic decisions ever reached by this country. Ever. Inflation in the next year would skyrocket, the already low dollar would become almost worthless, and prices would be jacked up to unreasonable amounts.
I’m sooo sick of the government getting us into shit like this, and then making us pay for it to get us out!
How about ALL you Politicians get off your asses and do something for our country other than bitch about your opposing party, we have REAL Problems here!

Re: loribaby1 – Please get the facts. Low income subprime is only 25% of total mortgages. The other 75% of mid and upper income mortgages are also causing this problem. However, the biggest dark cloud hanging over the credit markets are the Credit Default Swaps (CDS). CDS's are insurance policies that "guarantee" the mortgage will not default on the full face value. This toxic trash is estimated to have a notational value of 45 Trillion! Until this toxic trash is contained nobody is willing to lend on a broad basis. This is a crisis of CONFIDENCE. The Congress needs to grow a pair and start working on this with real solutions. The Dems are trying to get around this and do not need Grand Standing by Republicans running for election.

JP Morgan buys WaMu for .005% of face value of assets! What a rip off by "private" enterprise. Example. A 400K mortgage is bought for $2,000. I'd like to buy 10 in my neighborhood. Let the homeowners default when they loose their jobs. I just got a house for 2 grand, what a deal. I will surely make a profit. How do I get in on this deal? Oops, I not a Wall Street fat cat just a taxpayer. Think about this folks. This private takeover crap is a crook of @hit too. And just for good measure know the the Fed is actually draining money from the Fed Reserve system for the past few days. What a bunch of bull. The renegade House repubs want to lower capital gains taxes. That is not a solution either. So don't be fooled by the stooges of Wall Street banksters. They guys just want to cover the asses too.
