The Debate Is ON!

Filed under: Politik > Barack Obama > John McCain

bring-it-onnn.jpg

It's happening!!! Yay!

With the White House embroiled in deeply divided dissent over an urgent economic fix, Senator McCain has decided to resume his suspended campaign and take the stage for tonight's nationally televised debate.

With the failed bailout talks still fresh in the public's mind, the debate will probably prove to be yet another battleground for the economic crisis.

As it should!

We need to know what our future leader is going to do about this dreary situation!

Yesterday, things got so heated that President Bush had difficulty maintaining order among lawmakers. The presence of the presidential candidates later on in the day only made things worse, adding to the atmosphere of frenzied urgency.

But, now McCain is back on the campaign trail, with Mississippi as his first stop.

So make sure to tune in tonight! It's sure to be a doozy!

Re: mamajud – Absolutely. I am completely mystified as to how, in the Internet age, with these documents and facts at everyone's fingertips, any intelligent person can attempt to blame conservatives for this mess. The truth is that it is liberal economic policy that caused this crisis, and to some it appears the truth is more than they can handle.

The only thing McCain is gonna debate to the public is why he has to keep his handicapped parking permit in his rearview mirror all the time. He wants to keep it on the dash. Asses!

Re: Smirks – I find myself concerned this election year w/ TRYING (and I use that term with the greatest hope!!) to discover some piece of truth under all the rhetoric.  Being an Independent, I feel fairly open to discovering info on both sides of the coin.  I only get really riled up on this site when someone feels the need to trash my State or her residents.  Your video link opened up a new avenue for me to check into.

  16. 116

I saw this on the Thinkinboutstuff blog. It echoes what I said earlier today.
    -
What’s fascinating is that, if there is a plan that the Democrats support and the President supports, and the Democrats have majorities in both the House and the Senate, and they really believe in their plan… then why not put it to a vote and pass it. We are told there are enough votes in the Senate already, and the House should be no problem since Dems control it, so what’s the problem?

The problem is that Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Schumer, Dodd and the rest are not sure this will work and they don’t want the blame if it doesn’t.

  25. 125

    Re: SquirrelLives – #116
You are absolutely right. The Democrats are looking to share the blame for what will probably turn out to not be in our best interests (shocker). They are more concerned with being reelected than in substantive problem solving. And the problem is not that John McCain doesn't understand the economy as some would have everyone believe. The problem is that NO ONE in the US Government's executive branch OR legislative branch understands the economy. Obama PRETENDS to know more about the economy than he does and what's frightening is the way people eat that shit up and ask for seconds.

  27. 127

can't wait for the Michelle Obama tape to surface…should be soon! Then debates, economic crisis, war won't be an issue because what will come to light is just how racist the Obama's are.

Michelle Obama, “Once again, the white man keeps us down, what’s up with Whitey, Why’d he attack Iraq, Why’d he let Katrina happen, Why’d he leave millions of children behind. This is the legacy the white man gives us.”

  30. 130

This the response I got from my Rep, John Linder (R) Georgia
    -
Thank you for contacting me to express your skepticism of the proposal submitted by U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to restore stability in our economy. I share your skepticism and appreciate having the benefit of your input on this important matter.
    -
As requested by President Bush, Secretary Paulson submitted a skeletal proposal to Congress last week outlining a plan for the Federal government to take on mortgage-related assets in order to stabilize the market and inject liquidity into our cash hungry economy. Although many features of possible proposals have been discussed, debated, and rumored, a final bill has not been drafted. While I will continue to watch the moving target, if the plan remains in its current form, I will oppose it.
    -
Treasury Secretary Paulson has rightly endeavored to devise a solution that will value frozen securities, promote systemic certainty, and restore faith in the free market. I take issue not with his goals but instead with the process by which he seeks to achieve these goals.
    (Cont)

  31. 131

    (Cont)
In the week since Treasury released its proposal, my Congressional office has been inundated with concerns from thousands of American taxpayers unwilling to foot the bill and demanding a more pragmatic approach. We need to take a collective deep breath and recognize that the actions we take in the next few days will have repercussions on our economy for decades to come.
    -
Again, thank you for sharing your views with me. Please do not hesitate to do so again in the future.
    -
    Sincerely,
    John Linder
    Member of Congress

Bash said a senior adviser to McCain agreed that McCain seemed to be hindering the negotiating process rather than helping it.

    taken from cnn.com

  42. 142

Thanks Carrottops…coming from a retard, I'll take that as a compliment.

  43. 143

I will be watching. So much at stake.
But when you really think about it, who the hell would want to be President and inherit ALL THOSE BIG MESSES. Honestly, I'm not sure that Batman would be able to fix the many things that are broken. So many repairs are needed. Is John McCain really up to the job? Is Barack Obama? My bet is on the younger guy … it's gonna take a lot of smarts, energy and innovative ideas to turn the U.S. around. Pretty sure McCain can't do it.

  44. 144

good job obama, you whiney, hate-filled asshole! it's so much more important to make sure you get to have your little debate on time, so the public can hear a repeat of the same shit they've been hearing for months. i really hope we don't end up with this fame-whore, terrorist piece of shit as president.

  45. 145

Well, its amazing to me how the dems are spinning the dismal failure that was obama in the white house last night. Apparently, they all wanted mcCain up there but either say he didn't say anything until the end and was therefore useless or that he caused the train to derail. Which is it, Reid and Frank? Obviously you guys are hiding SOMETHING. That something, coming from inside sources, is that Obama was given the floor from the dems and he lost control and couldn't keep it together. What kind of man is THIS that can't deal with anything? The debates are really going to show his ineptness. Have you ever heard him actually speak???? He is awful! if he doesn't have a teleprompter, he can't form a thought or sentence. He is so gunning for his presidential position that he doesn't even want to be present in his CURRENT JOB! What does that say? Oh, call me if you need me! Um, I don't think so! You are running for the highest office in the country…you get your ass up there and be involved. Even if you are an idiot. Good to know he went up there finally. AND, with this process, the dems are really trying to get the conservatives to backtrack on their true beliefs. This is so Dems can blame conservatives when it fails. If the dems were confident in what they had in hand, they would pass it. But they won't. And they keep WHINING. ALL THE TIME. WHINE WHINE WHINE. Why is it you never hear the republicans whining?

  51. 151

Re: LS – Cnn. Well that explains it. Harry Reid is an idiot. His lies astound me! He said that McCain wasn't involved until the very end and then turned around and said it was all McCains fault that the meeting derailed. Actually, it was Obama's fault. He lost control because he is an inept leader. I don't understand why people think Obama is so smart?? He prefers Marxism, his wife is a racist, he can't make a decision, thinks he is already the president and doesn't need to be doing his current job, and can't put a thought together without a teleprompter.

I'll be watching the debate, or reading about it in tomorrow's news if I fall asleep.
    *
I am disgusted that CEO's of companies being bailed out received millions in compensation. I think it's criminal, but it was all perfectly legal.
    *
    Read this and weep.
    *
Stanley O'Neal walked away form Merrill Lynch with a package worth about $66 million.
    *
Ken Thompson was ousted from Wachovia with a "golden Parachute" over $5 million.
    *
Chuck Prince was forced out at Citigroup with a parting gift now valued at $16 million.
    *
Unfortunately, there is no way to constitutionally recoup pay retroactively. The new bailout plan that is agreed on must limit CEO pay for companies that turn to government for help; an outright ban would be even better.

  61. 161

Carrottops…from what i am getting from you, you spend a lot of time up your ass.
bottom line: look at the history…Michelle Obama is a racist. She has Barack by the balls. He is a follower not a leader…and the people he has chosen to follow Rev. Wright…Farrakhan, etc. shows he is a racist as well.

  62. 162

John McCain will crush Obama…let's be serious… Obama's only words will be "Hope for Change" HAH he's not a leader

  63. 163

    related to his temper:
McCain has routinely recused himself from votes in Congress related to alcohol issues, but would not have that option as president. Some advocates also worry that federal regulators will be less than vigorous in policing the alcohol industry given McCain's industry ties. "It would not be helpful to have a president from Anheuser-Busch," said George Hacker, director of the alcohol policies project at the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

  64. 164

I think McCain is trying to hide his growing dementia. I will be watching to see if he will answer the questions or try to deflect them and parrot his standard lines. I bet he is not in a good mood and will seem angry at times. Hope Obama creams him and shows he's ready to be President.

    From MSNBC:
    -
McCain had also said he would suspend all campaign activities, but IN REALITY the campaign just shifted to Washington while the work of trying to win the election went on.
    -
McCain had taken a gamble with the move . . . but Democratic rival Barack Obama had not bowed to McCain's challenge, and instead questioned why the Republican nominee COULDN'T HANDLE two things at once: the debate and the bailout negotiations.
    -
And the Debate is on !! Good !!!

First of all it shows his integrity when he could have been released after a year but stayed, second it shows his dedication to fight for this country, thirdly he served in and fully understand our military who defends our country, and lastly he is knowledgeable in forgeign affairs and is actually personal friends with many of our allied foreign leaders.
    -
The only Puppet is Obama who needs his PR and Staffers to write every Speech he's ever given. McCain has 20yrs experience and already knows what he's talking about he doesn't need to be breifed for weeks and weeks in order to have a debate…actually now that I think of it both You and Obamanation are Puppets as you'll blindly believe any gibberish he spews.

  82. 182

The only thing McCain did was stop a bad bill from getting passed. That's all. No biggie. Just another day at the office for McCain. He stood up to the Democrats that were about to shove $700 billion worth of bad legislation down our throats. The Dem's have the votes but won't pass it. I wonder why? That should tell everyone something. John McCain once again did us a huge service. The kind of thing a true leader does. Obama's position was "Call me if you need me". Give me a break.

    -
"A tenuous agreement on a bailout plan for Wall Street that had been reached Thursday morning was threatening to fall apart by the time evening had arrived."

  90. 190

What still baffles me is McCain's clearly poor choice of Sarah Palin?
    -
    -
Why? He had several really viable, decent choices, and it would have given him a far better position.

But no. Wee little mad man made his own choice - with diasterous results.
    -
    -
I really do believe he sank his campaign with this stupid choice - and I'm just shocked at such poor judgement.
    -

If anyone thinks Sarah is good, please watch her interview with Katie Couric - pay close attention to Palin's response on the Russia/Foreign Policy question.
    -
That, and its probably not to wise, Sarah you dimwit, to imply to Henry Kissinger as naive re foreign policy — I about spit out my soda on that one.

    Dear Friends,

The past few weeks have caused many to feel a renewed sense of hopelessness, frustration, and fear. Now is the time that we must hope to the point of being certain that a new day is coming. Lets all join together once a day, or as many times as necessary to work some serious magic on this election. So pass the following mantra along to everyone you know. We invite you to join us in repeating this mantra wherever you may be. We will be saying this every night at 8 PM pacific time. See you on election day.

For those of you who worry we've lost our minds, we invite you to lose yours too.

At this moment nothing exists but love and peace. War is over and hate no longer exists because the change has already come. Barack Obama is president of the United States of America.

Go back to your corner of the world.

Oops, sorry, he hasn't done jack in 2 years!!!! OK let's ask Biden….if he doesn't stick his foot in his mouth with his mangled version of American history. Honey, watch a little news, or pick up ANY paper…you're off base. GO JOHN!!!! TAKE THE DRESS OFF CINDERELLAOMAMA!!!!!!!
