Ratings Down Across The Board

stevecarrell.jpg

Where were y'all? Under the covers crying about the shitty state of our economy?

Why weren't you glued to the tube in support of the networks' big Thursday night shows?

The new seasons of Grey's Anatomy, Survivor AND The Office premiered Thursday to LOWER ratings than the previous season, according to a new report.

- Grey's was down 18%
- Survivor down 12%
- The Office down 6%

Ugly Betty was another premiere loser on Thursday. It slipped 15% from last season, marking its lowest-rated debut to date.

Was there something going on that we didn't know about?

Wonder if y'all will be back to 'normal' next week.

    my comment didn't post!
What's up with this piece of crapola?!?!?!?

  2. 102

Well, cable isn't free- so if your part of the poor economy that doesn't have cable, then your not missing anything and wasting your money.

  3. 103

Well I watched Gray and know that everyone of my friends did. Opener was 2 hrs. and was great…albeit a little early for snow..ice…etc. Survivor was on at a time that conflicted with a show I watch. Survivor should be moved to another night. m.CT.

Re: its kelz yo – I'm With you I was watching Supernatural(Jesen Ackles is HOTTTTTTTT) and I watched Smallville, and Recorded My name is Earl. Those are the good shows you should be watching on thursday nights!!!!!!!

The shows, that you listed, just don't hold any interest for me. I spent the evening preparing dinner, loading the dishwasher, helping my kid with his homework, downloading songs for his MP3 player, doing laundry and having a 'heart to heart' with the kid regarding his latest school progress report.
All in all…it was a fulfilling evening.

  6. 106

The premier of Greys sucked so badly. But the OFFICE is AMAZING, still.. god I fucking hate the charicter "Michael Scott" lmao Hes so annoying, but he deffinatly makes the show hilariouse.

Re: lilguera – Until your #102 comment, it didn't dawn on me how absolutely correct you are. I must be so used to having a satellite dish, I completely forgot that one doesn't need cable or satellite, to get ABC, CBS, NBC, WGN and PBS.
    Thanks, for the reality check.

  8. 108

The reason the ratings are so low is because people are having to work 2 jobs to keep up with the economy. Plus, tons of people have shut off their cable, pawned their televisions or are sitting in the dark with no electricity because they have to put gas in their cars. Thank you economy!

  9. 109

The whining on this board has gotten ridiculous. You people who say you can't afford cable…. why the fuck are you online, douches.

As for The Office……..an almost perfect episode. LOVED it!!!

  10. 110

i work long hours now so watching any tv after 9pm isn't worth being dead tired for in the morning
besides i can understand survivor, that show is done, has been for awhile

  11. 111

I watched the Office…..and LOVED it!! Im a dedicated, die hard fan!!!! Congrats Jim and Pam, its about time!!

  12. 112

and OMG..what is up with ANGELA on the Office?? What a whore!!

  13. 113

    Cant wait til NEXT THURSDAY!

  14. 114

He is so cute. I'll bet he's got a pretty dick, and fucks like a rabbit in bed.

  15. 115

They didn't advertise that this was the week that the new seasons started! I was watching Kitchen Nightmares! I would have recorded the other ones if I had known.

  16. 116

The Office was okay. Ugly Betty was okay. But really, playing Rock Band 2 is much more interesting. So I tivo and watch it all in about 60 min. it's just OLD. There are better shows on other channels.

  17. 117

fuck the wealthy. they can go cry into their grey poupons hahahahha

  18. 118

That's what happens when the writers strike. Shows have fewer episodes than ever and then you have to wait until the end of September for the new season to start so it can take a break in November and return in March.

  19. 119

Everybody was watching SUPERNATURAL!!! Dah… And btw why aren't those two guys on your yummy yummy screw page PNasty???

  20. 120

what does tv expect?? you go off the air for like 9 months (which in this day and age, that equals about 10 years) and you expect us to drop everything and watch your shitty shows…. everyone was working their second job becuase America is being flushed down the toilet… offer TV online, and let people watch when they want to, not when they are told to!

  21. 121

    Re: Akasha777 – I LOVE KITCHEN NIGHTMARES!!!IT WAS AWESOME!!!

  22. 122

Ugly Betty and Grey Anatomy were the best - luved it!!! I would have watched Survivor but Ugly Betty won we over for that time slot…I'd watch it but the date/time does not work for me. Why is it that nobody puts anything good on Monday night - I could use some 1/2 decent good tv….hmm like Survivor.

  23. 123

Ugly Betty was awesome last night

  24. 124

i know what happened. since the usa economy is so bad, they had to work extra hours. plus some people just had to give up cable.

oh perez, one thing that's so obvious… THEY'RE NOT WATCHing TV BECAUSE THEY ARE READING PEREZHILTON.COM lol

  25. 125

all of those shows suck, that is all i have to say about that

  26. 126

    SUM PPL WORK NIGT SHIFT

  27. 127

I watched The Office, and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia….2 best shows on TV :)

  28. 128

It's called a national economic crisis, dude. Maybe some people are trying to get their priorities in order. hello….

  29. 129

USC-Oregon State. If you are balsy enough to start your broadcast season during the football season on Monday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday in the USA…Good Luck!

  30. 130

Tv is becoming obsolete, people cant afford that shit now so they go on the internet. The problem is, these giant studios absolutely hate the idea of people watching shows on the net. If they refuse to make a change onto newer "technology" they will continue to lose money. That is the problem.

  31. 131

    white sox were playing.

  32. 132

also, i didn't even know the shows were starting up for the season.
perhaps, low budget ads & PR.

  33. 133

Network TV used to be free, but now I don't reception and I'm not buying cable! It's a huge consipracy and this whole switching from analog to digital is the biggest disaster… I want my free TV more than I want my MTV.

Oh Well thank goodness for online episodes.

  34. 134

I haven't watched Grey's in two seasons because it fucking sucks. I watched the Office and ER, they were awesome.

    135

Greys lost its believability when it cast George as a love interest to Izzie - the moment the man came out as gay in real life he lost all credibility as hetero in the series. Make the character of George gay and the show might come back to life.
Also, would it be too much to ask if I suggested killing off Meredith? - I know she's the "star" of the show, but her scenes just drag…she's too whiny… boo-hoo, what if this goes wrong? What if that goes wrong??? She's just not very likable.
Really guys, the show would be better minus the character.

    Watching FOOTBALL! Go Beavs!

  37. 137

    ****************************************************************
THERE WE GO!!! THAT'S WHO HE REMINDS ME OF…
HE LOOKS LIKE JUST LIKE ELLEN DE GENERES
    ****************************************************************

  38. 138

Proves they keep on flogging dead horses, because they cannot learn to quit whilst still ahead. 2 series of Anything is more than enough-after that is gets stale .

  39. 139

No WAY!!! Grey's DOWN? Ok maybe i wish it stops running so i can see the whole show withouth spending my life waiting for it to ends.

  40. 140

I never saw any online promos!

  41. 141

The writers strike made me realize that there are better things in life than T.V.

  42. 142

Its definatelly the economy! People have to gas up their cars and eat..who can afford cable…

  43. 143

    what the office was amazing

    hahaha
but i cant belive there cutting it in the next 3 years
    URGH!!!

BUT YEA STILL REALLY GOOD. CANT COMPLAIN:D

  44. 144

thank god cause theres at least 10 new better shows

  45. 145

Could be alot of people still don't have power or cable because of Hurricane Ike. My cable only came back on Wednesday, so I was lucky that I got to see them….Even though the Ugly Betty episode kinda blew.

  46. 146

welllll i watch greys (sometimes) and the office i watch religiously. i watch ugly betty too…

but i often miss the original time, so i find myself watching it on nbc.com and abc.com when i miss them. its easier, and fewer commercials.
