A South Carolina mayor says he forwarded a chain e-mail naming Obama as the antichrist because he was "curious."
We remember forwarding chain e-mails for good luck…in high school!
Mayor Danny Funderburk forwarded the e-mail from his work e-mail address, seeking documentation of any scripture to validate the claim.
Oh really?
“I was just curious if there was any validity to it,” Funderburk attempts to explain. “I was trying to get documentation if there was any scripture to back it up.”
Idiot!
Funderburk said it “probably does give that impression” that he believed the e-mail was true “but that was not my intent.”
He does go on to say that "I am curious about current events and their connection to the Bible."
We guess he's not the only idiot on the internetz, because apparently the e-mail has been making the rounds.
The e-mail quotes the book of Revelations, which claims the antichrist will be in his 40s and of Muslim ancestry.
For the record, pal, no such scripture exists. And Barack is not Muslim!

I can understand "looks bad" I just can't take the extreme view that he's unpatriotic for not being on auto pilot. We are free thinkers after all not blind followers.
Not to mention, Islam wasn't even around until the mid 6th century - about 300 years after the final version of the Bible was decided upon in Rome. Kind of hard to believe the book of Revelations would mention something that doesn't yet exist…

This frustrates me so much. I received this forward from several people, who all thought there was some truth behind it. Here is the truth, and you can look in the book of Revelation: no where does it state anything about the antichrist's age or descent. The real kicker is that Islam did not exist as a religion until the 600s AD, 500 + years after the Bible was written. Hmmm… This leads me to believe that this email is full of crap and is being forwarded by extremely ignorant people who thrive on creating fear in others.
In response to Beat By a Girl… The Bible is full of prophecy that was predicted long before it happened. Read the Bible and you will see that over ahlf of the Bibles Prophecies have been fulfilled. So I would be a fool not to believe that the rest will as well.
And to MinxLives, It is the same differnce, my point is that he will not stand with Americans.
It's funny how biblical scholars just found this exceprt in the book of revelations in the year 2008. Funny,they know the specifics of it too now in the year 2008. Wasn't the bible written thousands of years ago? Why the sudden "revelation"?
The point is WE ARE ALL immigrants and Obama's quote clearly states that just because some Americans are descendents or former citizens of another country, once they swear their allegiance to America they are Americans and should be respected as such.
I doubt we aould start spitting on Russian Americans should we go to war with Russia. And I highly doubt they would be round up and put in concentration camps as we did the Japanese. These are the lessons Obama is saying weshould have learned since WW2. Americans should NOT be treated this way just because of the genetic makeup they carry that is visible to the eye.

The AMericans He states he will stand with are ALL Americans! Pakistani Americans, chinese Americans, Jamaican Americans Muslim Americans, Christian Americans. The people he said he would stand with ARE Americans too!!!! That is why he referenced our treatment of Japanese AMericans!
This whole argument about race is killing me. I think some of you should consider taking an anthropology course. Race does not exist. It's a social construct created during the 15th century. There are no sub-groups of human beings divided by skin color. Not to sound cliche, but we are one human family. Our differences aren't racial, they're cultural. However, if you want to bask in your ignorance and argue over pigmentation, go ahead. But I strongly recommend you all to educate yourselves.

If I was gonna lie, it wouldn't be about living there of all places.I would have totally b-sd my travels to 3 third world countries or somewhere the rich and famous go on vacay. Btw, foods great, weather sucks and some of the Germans don't like us. As for being around diverse people, have you been down in GA lately, NC, or Germany for that matter? Islam wasn't around when the Bible was written either… honestly there are some great stories and lessons in the Bible, but it gets used so much for hate mongering… makes me sad, but happy that I'm removed enough from the institution of Christianity that I haven't been brought up to look to a book for all my answers…

I'm on the same team as Prince. Revelation doesn't say that the antichrist is 40 and of a muslim decent. In fact the antichrist is not one individual. In connection between Revelation chapter 13 and Daniel chapter 7, God gave Daniel a vision of figurative beasts, including a leopard, a bear, and a lion. (Daniel 7:2-6) He wrote that those wild animals symbolized earthly kings, or governments. (Daniel 7:17) So we can logically conclude that the wild beast of Revelation represents human governments. Since these governments oppose God’s Kingdom, they constitute a part of the antichrist. Those who twist the clear teachings of Jesus into knots of religious deceit, ones who reject Bible truth and spread lies in the name of God and Christ, those who deny the true relationship of the Father and the Son by their Trinity doctrine. Therefore, they too are a part of the antichrist.
All the Obama's and McCains and Palins and on and on are puppets of something bigger.
