We do not smoke or do illegal drugs. We do not get blood transfussions. And we do not vote. This is because we do not support earthly governments. Man, a lot of ignorant people on here. Prince has been divorced from his 2nd wife for about a year. 3121 is the name of his last CD which was also his address in California. He became a JW approx. 7 years ago and since then will not curse in concert or his music or be shown in videos getting sexual with women and has went door-to-door. Although I completely disagree with JW beliefs, I still support his freedom to do what he feels in his heart. Prince has always had a lot of spiritual music on every CD singing about God and Jesus, most people don't know about it. So, just as some people follow their belief system and enter the military to possibly lose life and limb, Jehovah's Witnesses are no different. They too are willing to die for what they believe. Price is not a Jehovah Witness he is only in association with them he is learning about their beliefs, when you are a witness you are baptized and accept the teachings of the bible, he is not baptized. We were encouraged by my parents to do team sports. What they didn't encourage was being so involved with it that you have no time for what they considered important thing, spending time with your family etc. I can pretty much say as soon as I stopped being a jw I didn't really know where I was going. my husband's family is JW and i have sat through studys and just last week they tried to convince me that voting was a sin…. i personally dont buy it & will be voting, but honesty there is alot in the bible about not getting too involved with the kingdoms and their laws (government). They also dont want my children playing sports for whatever jacked up reason (nothing in the bible says you cant play sports by the way) it casues alot of arguments between us though because of the difference in opinion and how we were raised

Blood transfusions - we are directed in the Bible, by God, to not EAT blood but a transfusion is different. I can almost see where it turns out they might be onto something with all the deaths from AIDS given thru blood transfusion before they knew how to properly test it. What else might there be? A HUGE misconception people have about Jehovah's Witnesses is they let their children die. THE CHILDREN ARE "PRECIOUS GIFTS FROM GOD"…So we love them more than anything, believe me. In this new age, science has come a long way, so today there are many ways to avoid blood transfusions that we are fully aware of, such as bloodless surgeries and other alternatives that can do the job. There are many benefits from not accepting blood…You can't catch deadly blood borne diseases, there are so many mistakes made in medicine, they can give you the wrong type, they can give you blood that's contaminated and make your situation worst. It can ultimately result to death. We are entitled to follow our own conscience. We are given scriptural references to make up our own minds, nobody's "controlling" us as a individual.
Witnesses have a deep respect for blood and LIFE. It's very precious to Jehovah God, therefore it's precious to us. Another excellent scripture is Leviticus 17:1-16. It's a little long, so I won't quote it. But it mentions "F

Man, a lot of ignorant people on here. Prince has been divorced from his 2nd wife for about a year. 3121 is the name of his last CD which was also his address in California. He became a JW approx. 7 years ago and since then will not curse in concert or his music or be shown in videos getting sexual with women and has went door-to-door. Although I completely disagree with JW beliefs, I still support his freedom to do what he feels in his heart. Prince has always had a lot of spiritual music on every CD singing about God and Jesus, most people don't know about it. There has never been anything revealed that he is homosexual - quite the contrary (Shelia E., Carmen Electra, Vanity, Appolonia, Kim Basinger, Mayte, etc. etc.) He's more of a "man" for being true to himself and wearing what he likes even though he knows he may be ridiculed - that's hot!! The only two birthday celebrations recorded in the scriptures are unfavorable; Genesis 40:20-22 and Matthew 14:6-10; and it seems logical that if God wanted us to revere the birth of his Son he would have had his exact birthday recorded and the apostles would've celebrated it all along.
To the contrary the Bible says, "A name is better than good oil, and the day of death than the day of one’s being born. Better is it to go to the house of mourning than to go to the banquet house, because that is the end of all mankind; and the one alive should take [it] to his heart." - Ecclesiastes 7:1,2.
Jesus did not tell us to celebrate his birth but to commemorate his death. "Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body which is to be given in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” - Luke 22:19. This celebration was instituted on the night of the Jewish passover to take the place of that annual celebration.
Voting, Politics, War - Jesus did not participate in politics, run for political office or serve in the military. Nor did his apostles or 1st Century Christians. Hence, why they were persecuted, killed, fed to the lions, etc. Review early Christian practices.
"Therefore Jesus, knowing they were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone… Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. Oh, and one more thing. Jehovah's Witnesses who exercise their right not to serve in the military out of loyalty to God's command "Thou Shall Not Kill" do endure consequences for that choice. Some do community service, prison terms, are persecuted, have been tarred and feathered, lose their jobs, been put in concentration camps, beaten, tortured, stripped nude, and even killed for their faith.
So, just as some people follow their belief system and enter the military to possibly lose life and limb, Jehovah's Witnesses are no different. They too are willing to die for what they believe. Which if everyone believed like them, everyone would refuse to go to war and there'd be no one killing each other. Something to consider.

Price is not a Jehovah Witness he is only in association with them he is learning about their beliefs, when you are a witness you are baptized and accept the teachings of the bible, he is not baptized. With him still going out in concerts, dressing up the way he does, and putting make-up on is not acceptable in gods eyes, so how can he call himself a witness, and people that criticize the witnesses, learn or read about their beliefs before you open your mouth.

I grew up as a jw..
We were encouraged by my parents to do team sports. What they didn't encourage was being so involved with it that you have no time for what they considered important thing, spending time with your family etc. I can pretty much say as soon as I stopped being a jw I didn't really know where I was going. Im still not one.
no they don't ban everything fun.. They just dont have christmas and birthdays because of its 'pagan origins', yeah it sucked not having that growing up but we still had a great childhood. my parents weren't smokers, drug addicts or drinkers, but they werent 'goody goodies' as some might see it.. we were just down to earth people with different beliefs.

my husband's family is JW and i have sat through studys and just last week they tried to convince me that voting was a sin…. i personally dont buy it & will be voting, but honesty there is alot in the bible about not getting too involved with the kingdoms and their laws (government). They also dont want my children playing sports for whatever jacked up reason (nothing in the bible says you cant play sports by the way) it casues alot of arguments between us though because of the difference in opinion and how we were raised

Blood transfusions - we are directed in the Bible, by God, to not EAT blood but a transfusion is different. I can almost see where it turns out they might be onto something with all the deaths from AIDS given thru blood transfusion before they knew how to properly test it. What else might there be? But on the other hand, I'd like some scripture (chapter and verse) where that directive is also.

A HUGE misconception people have about Jehovah's Witnesses is they let their children die. THE CHILDREN ARE "PRECIOUS GIFTS FROM GOD"…So we love them more than anything, believe me. In this new age, science has come a long way, so today there are many ways to avoid blood transfusions that we are fully aware of, such as bloodless surgeries and other alternatives that can do the job. There are many benefits from not accepting blood…You can't catch deadly blood borne diseases, there are so many mistakes made in medicine, they can give you the wrong type, they can give you blood that's contaminated and make your situation worst. It can ultimately result to death. We are entitled to follow our own conscience. We are given scriptural references to make up our own minds, nobody's "controlling" us as a individual.
Witnesses have a deep respect for blood and LIFE. It's very precious to Jehovah God, therefore it's precious to us. Another excellent scripture is Leviticus 17:1-16. It's a little long, so I won't quote it. But it mentions "F
