Palin didn't sound as dumb as she usually does but, she in no way won the debate. Unlike in the Katie Couric interviews, Palin had weeks to practice and prep for the debate and it was obvious to see and hear that she was just reciting things she had previously memorized. She also tries WAAAAY too hard to be likeable and it makes me want to vomit. Biden, on the other hand, was amazing. When he spoke, he spoke from the heart, and not from a note card, like Sarah Palin. Biden even took it easy on her, and she still didn't measure up. I think it is pretty clear who the winner was. At least, clear for those of us who effectively make use of our brains.
I'm horrified that people thing Palin "brought it" simply because she didn't do as "bad as expected" She didn't answer a single question and isn't that what a debate is about? I think they both did well, but I think Biden won that debate. The thing that aggitated me the most is that she straight up danced around some questions and kept telling us about her upbringing in Alaska.

I am 75% for the Obama vision and politics for our country and will probably vote for him in November. I have a question that I can't quiet figure out though. If a bill is passed to raise taxes on the oil companies, won't the oil companies just pass the extra cost to the people, which will raise the price of gas? How can they raise taxes without the people paying for it in the end? Can they?

Well on the gay thing. I'm a gay man and I didn't take offense on Biden saying he's against gay marriage. I think some people didn't pay attention so Sara who was trying to twist what Biden had just said about equal civil rights by saying she wouldn't redifine marriage as other than being between a man and a woman. Biden added that "marriage" as a religious cerimony should be the responsability of their perpective churches administering it and so on. I'm not religious and I don't care for one way or the other. Equal rights, called Civil Unions, John, Mary, whatever sounds good to me. I'm not making a fuss about the word marriage. It really doesn't mean a lot to some straight people so they can keep it. It's just a word.

You are correct! What happens to the big companies effects everyone, i.e. tax raises on oil companies. Democrats try to cater to everyone to keep them happy by handing them a check whereas Republicans bring relief to companies so that they can create more jobs and give formally unemployed Americans steady paychecks.
So the question is, does the average American just want a check delivered to them or do they want the opportunity to go work and have a steady income? Sadly, I think the former.
I thougth Sarah Palin was amazing tonight. She held her ground and didn't let anything knock her down. She made some very good points. Biden made most of the low blows and Palin took them like a champ. The comment "There's only one man in this race that ever REALLY fought for you," was a great way to end it. Good point too. I can honestly say that prior to entering the debate, I didn't know anything about Biden as a candidate and after tonight I totally fell in love with him, and I believe in him and the democratic ticket more than ever.

It is clear that her strength, in terms of public speaking, is in rehearsed commentary. She came across okay when she went into her rehearsed/memorized segments, but when it comes to live, reactionary dialogue, she's not bright, experienced or witty enough for this level of politics.

Palin didn't sound as dumb as she usually does but, she in no way won the debate. Unlike in the Katie Couric interviews, Palin had weeks to practice and prep for the debate and it was obvious to see and hear that she was just reciting things she had previously memorized. She also tries WAAAAY too hard to be likeable and it makes me want to vomit. Biden, on the other hand, was amazing. When he spoke, he spoke from the heart, and not from a note card, like Sarah Palin. Biden even took it easy on her, and she still didn't measure up. I think it is pretty clear who the winner was. At least, clear for those of us who effectively make use of our brains.

I think they both did well, but I think Biden won that debate. The thing that aggitated me the most is that she straight up danced around some questions and kept telling us about her upbringing in Alaska.
Palin looked to me as if she has been standing in a mirror for 5 weeks "practicing" and she seemed to be nervous (which I totally understand) but everything was so rehearsed and the winking and the weird comments about her family and her hometown…she seemed to almost talk down as if she is talking to children…

If a bill is passed to raise taxes on the oil companies, won't the oil companies just pass the extra cost to the people, which will raise the price of gas? Well on the gay thing. I'm a gay man and I didn't take offense on Biden saying he's against gay marriage. I think some people didn't pay attention so Sara who was trying to twist what Biden had just said about equal civil rights by saying she wouldn't redifine marriage as other than being between a man and a woman. Biden added that "marriage" as a religious cerimony should be the responsability of their perpective churches administering it and so on. I'm not religious and I don't care for one way or the other. Equal rights, called Civil Unions, John, Mary, whatever sounds good to me. I'm not making a fuss about the word marriage. It really doesn't mean a lot to some straight people so they can keep it. It's just a word.

You are correct! What happens to the big companies effects everyone, i.e. tax raises on oil companies. Democrats try to cater to everyone to keep them happy by handing them a check whereas Republicans bring relief to companies so that they can create more jobs and give formally unemployed Americans steady paychecks.
So the question is, does the average American just want a check delivered to them or do they want the opportunity to go work and have a steady income? Sadly, I think the former.
I thougth Sarah Palin was amazing tonight. She held her ground and didn't let anything knock her down. She made some very good points. Coming at this election from a very liberal standpoint, I began this whole process obviously cheering for the Democrats all the way…until I started watching the real debates months ago between Obama and McCain. I was more of a Hillary fan myself, but from what I've seen to date, and having an extensive political background…I am officially converted to the McCain/Palin ticket…have been for quite sometime, but tonight was a hands down, no questions asked win for the Reps.!! Look at the facts people…the logical truth…any candidate of any race down to a student council president can promise you cookies and rainbows…the one who tells you like it is and can deliver is usually the one NOT elected because people act like mindless sheep and try and hear whatever they want. Wake up USA, just because these guys WANT something to be or say it is, doesn't make it so…I just wish more young people would pay more attention and get hard core facts and USE YOUR BRAINS GOD GAVE YOU instead of just following what these ignorant celebrities say! I truly have faith in the intelligence and judgement of people…which I've been criticized for maintaining in the past…but I believe people are smarter than they appear, so I'm just hoping it shows come election day.
Joe Biden won and you know this if you have any brains. Just because Sarah Palin didn't stumble on her words and do horribly like those embarassing Katie Couric interviews does not mean she won people! She's been prepped to death and was just bringing up overrehearsed talking points instead of answering the questions. She was gimmicky and pretentious.
Her "aww shucks, there ya go Joe, dog gone it Joe" hockey mom routine is so phony and contrived that I want to puke. Look at the substance. Biden had that, Palin couldn't offer ANYTHING. When Biden said to name him a policy they have that differs from George Bush's she didn't say a damn thing because she can't name one.
Biden was genuinely passionate, a straight shooter and actually got down to the issues and answered the questions. He won.
Just because Palin didn't stumble on her words and look like a total uninformed ditz loser does not mean she won the debate. Just means she was overprepped. Notice she couldn't even answer the questions, just jumped to whatever talking points she could think of.

I can honestly say that prior to entering the debate, I didn't know anything about Biden as a candidate and after tonight I totally fell in love with him, and I believe in him and the democratic ticket more than ever.
More importantly, he really handed Sarah Palin her ass back on most if not ALL of the issues discussed - And while she didn't completely BOMB like I expected her too, she also said nothing of
substance and spoke on the issues in a generic and over-broad way. BIDEN spoke with a command on foreign policy with Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. This man knows his shit … right down the shias and the shiites!

Biden probably prepared for this debate by taking an evening and…. thinking. Palin on the other hand, has had a major team of staffers pounding facts in her head and arranging her answers to every possible question and issue that could be brought up, just to try to make her appear knowledgeable enough to stand there and debate.

It is clear that her strength, in terms of public speaking, is in rehearsed commentary. She came across okay when she went into her rehearsed/memorized segments, but when it comes to live, reactionary dialogue, she's not bright, experienced or witty enough for this level of politics.

I don't understand how some people say Palin won when clearly all she did was dance around subjects she was uncomfortable with and kept bringing up Alaska, being a socccer mom, and energy even though that had nothing to do with the question. I understand she does not have the experience Biden has but, she could have at least acted professional. That's just my opinion.
