I think there is corruption on both sides, its up to the voter to vote for the lesser evil in their own view. It just seems harder this election to figure out who that is. The truth is, she is right…Obama has these specific connections to a terrorist (American or not, old or not, yes, a true terrorist), and many other relationships with people who have made racially charged statements, or in their actions, have presented themselves as dangerous, un-American, or in the least, ignorant and hateful.
While Elisabeth may not be considered smart or liberal enough to run in the cool circles, the truth is many Americans believe in the adage "You are the company you keep." If you don't think associations mean much in a candidate's capability or character, then don't worry about it. Just remember that both sides are presenting this sort of information, and both sides have yet to fully explain a purposeful economic salvation plan for their ticket (another issue important to Americans). Find a focus on either side, instead of downing them when they DO tell the truth about the other.
The only thing scary is that all of the ignorant, incompetent republicans are going to fall dead after Mccain and PAllin fail to convince America with all of their typical smoke and mirror scare tactics.

As for what you said a/b Obama I actually used to have that concern and Squirrel will vouch for me that I used to be a BIG McCain fan…. until he diverted our attention away from Afghanistan and onto Iraq. The shift just didn't make sense. Now keep in mind I stated I started following Obama in 2003 and a lot of what is being discussed a/b him now were always in the news here in CHicago so, I actually had 5 years to learn a/b the man and actually dissect his speeches and more importantly ask friends I have/ had at the University of Chicago what they thought of him etc. Needless to say the ups and downs you mentioned I have already gone through. Squirrel asked me your very question a/b 3 1/2 weeks ago and we discussed it at length, so trust me I weighed it carefully and in the end I just am NOT conviced McCain is up to the task at hand he is too erratic and his pick of Palin IMO proves that. Per McCain he was going for the MOST qualified in the GOP… I'm sorry but there are a multitude of talented women in the GOP far more qualified than Palin. At this point I really don't trust his judgement. And with 4 cases of serious melanoma, I cannot accept the thought that Palin would be President w/ ROve politics pulling the strings since she clearly is clueless.

Thanks for not reading the entire post…I am absolutely not "hiding my head in the sand" when it comes to the McCain camp. He has been less than stellar in many business relationships, personal relationships, and other gaffes you apparently thought important enough to school me in. The point of the post is that OBAMA IS NOT PERFECT!! The second point is MCCAIN IS NOT PERFECT!
There should ALWAYS be open discussion when dealing with the personal past of both candidates, with nothing being considered off limits. The problem is when neither side are focusing on solving real problems this country has, not when one side is telling on the other.
Support Obama or support McCain, the point is, there is nothing wrong with being completely aware of both the past and future plans, pals, and potential of our candidates.

I think what angers people, is how either side paints the other as wicked or evil, as opposed to truly weighing their merits and character.
The other question we must ask is, despite their suggested affiliations with these people, how close were they really? What influence do they have with them currently? Do the actions that occurred 20, 30 or 40 years ago have bearing on who these people are now, even if they've "repented" for past sins? If your sister is arrested for drunk driving, should you be held accountable for her getting behind the wheel?
The truth is you can't be held accountable for the actions of friends, colleagues, or family members, anymore than they can be held accountable for your actions

I don't disagree with some of what you've said about McCain. With Obama, you have the benefit of living in Chicago and having known about the questions surrounding Obama for some time… I only started paying attention to him when he won the primary so hearing about all this is "new" to me. You may know him but I feel like I don't. I have to go through the same process of asking about him, getting answers, and drawing my own conclusions. You hit the nail on the head… he does spook me. Initially I really liked him, but the more I learn about him the less I liked him. Seems like you came to the opposite conclusion, which is okay. The best thing Obama has going is that he has thoughtful supporters like you, and not just ill-informed looney tunes. I'm sure you probably feel the same way about McCains supporters… lol. I think we can agree that each candidate has his flaws and as long as we're making informed choices, we can respect one another. Tonight: Round Two.

Re: lefty lady – If Obama is elected, all checks and balances will be gone. The Judicial, Legislative, and the Executive branch of government will all be liberal. Then if you start adding up the democratic mayors and governors you will start to see a one party government…by then it will be too late. Similarly, if a person shows no remorse for past indescretions, it signals to me that they probably haven't changed. It really should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

bill ayers was NOT a terrorist. he was one of the most important anti-war activists of the sixties and the fact that obama is in any way associated with him is incredible. if anything, having a president who is friends with one of the people responsible for ending the vietnam war is a major plus.

Barack Obama is close friends with terrorist Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground. Ayers has refused to apologize or repent for the murderous carnage he caused through terrorist bombings, and even recently said with a fellow Weather Underground member that they "didn't do enough" terrorist bombings during the Vietnam War. Sick. Obama not only has spoken alongside him at seminars, but he has said he considers him a close friend. True antiwar protestors point out that Ayers hurt their cause by engaging in more violence and that Ayers is a fascist terrorist. But Obama has yet to condemn the terrorist acts (why should we ask him, he should do it himself of course). But in the liberal fascist mindset, violence it okay if it's against people you disagree with.
Ayers said on Sept. 11, 2001, the same day the Islamic fascists were attacking out country, that he didn't regret bombing, and that he wished he had done more bombings. What an evil turd.
