Not for the first time, an American TV network is trying to import the UK’s Absolutely Fabulous to the States.
Fox is working on an LA twist to the adventures of Jennifer Saunders’ Edina and Patsy, netting executive producers Mitch Hurwitz, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for Sony Pictures TV, Tantamount, and BBC Worldwide America, along with Saturday Night Live writer Christine Zander teamed with BBC’s Ian Moffet and series creator Saunders.
Operating under the notion that if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, the only real difference in the American versus the British version is that our beloved, devastatingly unhip wannabe cougars will be terrorizing the streets of Los Angeles rather than London. And, as we know, there is all sorts of fabulous trouble to get into here in the City of Angels!
But wait…we’re experiencing a strong sense of d├â┬⌐j├â┬á vu!
A show, from the 90s…
A washed up actress in LA causing mischielf with her best friend as her daughter disapproves…
Starring Cybill Shepherd perhaps? And the much better Christine Baranski!
