Normally, any amature photographer knows to make sure the angle, the zoom , the lighting (et cetera) are "good" and that the shot has some arty or aesthetically pleasing attribute to it.

I don't think it's fair to say "the Republicans" like it's all of Congress when it's only members of the right-wing branch of the Fashion Police that are throwing a fuss in this video.
