The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain's Republican ticket.
Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report by a bipartisan panel that investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their office for personal gain.
The inquiry looked into her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.
The panel found that Palin let the family grudge influence her decision-making even if it was not the sole reason Monegan was dismissed. "I feel vindicated," Monegan said. "It sounds like they've validated my belief and opinions. And that tells me I'm not totally out in left field."

I don't have anything against her as a person, but in dismissing her personal life and looking at her strictly as a politician I agree with those who said they felt that there were many more suitable female choices out there.
On the Today Show they had a pannel of women discuss Palin, and one woman remarked that she wanted to vote for McCain/Palin because "I feel like I could sit across from her at a table and actually speak to her. I liked that she didn't know as much about the white house as any other average American." Granted, while that may make someone seem more relatable, it certainly doesn't do anything to boost my confidence in her ability to lead the country should something happen to John McCain.

Obama focuses his speeches, debating and rallying on talking about the ISSUES, including the financial crisis, energy issues, healthcare and foreign policy. McCain's campaign focuses on bashing Obama on irrelevant issues that have nothing to do with how this country is going to be run. Reason being, is because McCain has nothing to contribute, he has no plans for alleviating the financial crises, his healthcare plan is underdeveloped and impractical etc.
He has to reduce himself to making these obnoxious claims that Obama fraternized with a terrorist. He's just trying to distract the american people from realizing that he has no real plan for america regarding healthcare and the economy.
