Someone's looking like a hypocrite!
According to reports, a bipartisan committee of Alaska legislators (so, BOTH Republicans AND Democrats) voted 12-0 on Friday to release a report that revealed Veep candidate and current Alaskan governor Sarah Palin violated state ethics law "by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper."
Here it is in a nutshell:
Even before Sexy Sarah was nominated to be the Republican Veep candidate, an inquiry was kicked off to look into her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan, who said he lost his job because he resisted pressure to fire her ex-brother-in-law.
Sexy Sarah has said Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.
Well, the report released on Friday said two important things. First, Monegan's firing was lawful. But, the pressure Palin and her husband put on him, was not.
You, like us, may be wondering what the heck does her husband, a non-elected, unofficial player have to do with this?
Well, check this out!
The report notes a few instances in which Sexy Sarah pressed the case against trooper Mike Wooten, but it was her husband, Todd, who led the charge to get 'em.
Todd Palin had extraordinary access to the governor's office and her closest advisers and he used that access to try to get Wooten fired. Sexy Sarah knowingly "permitted Todd to use the Governor's office and the resources of the Governor's office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired".
Hmmmm. Using public office to advance a family vendetta?
And, allowing a family member to use tax payer supported resources to do so?
It seems more crony than maverick to us!

Scary thing is, during the Veep debate, Sexy Sarah said that she wanted to (unconstitutionally?!) EXPAND the powers of the Veep office should she be allowed in there.

And when Obama met William Ayers, he was the Professor of Education at the University of Illinois. If Ayers was such a major threat to national security, why did the government give him a Teaching License? When Obama met Tony Resko, he was at Harvard University. Obama is responsible for his own actions; not for the actions of other people. Just because Obama knows them, or even does business with them, is not proof that he did anything inappropriate himself.

Palin's trooper brother-in-law abused his power when he tasered his stepson, drank in his patrol car, and made death threats against his ex-wife's father. A trooper should not be allowed to keep his job - and his gun - when he's making death threats. Should Sarah Palin have sat around and waited for her sister to become another Stacy Peterson? It's outrageous to me that this guy still has his job.

My problem is when people get attacked on here personally. I can't stand either of our candidates. I dislike Obama as much as I dislike McCain. The only difference I see is that one is very wanting of war and the other is not. But I also know that I could be wrong with that theory. My problem with some of the people on here, is that they are neither aware or open to the fact that their candidate is wrong. I can't believe that people are idolizing these people. I don't understand the blindness. To me, everyone seems to have party blinders on. They can't see beyond the party lines and accept everything their candidate says as fact. It's strange to me. No one questions and all is okay. It's scary. Are we all sheeple? Are we all comatose? When will we have a government that gives a shit about us? Will we ever answer for our wrongdoings?
If people really think that these candidates care about us, then I think we're all asleep. We need better choices. And we need a government that actually gives a shit. We need a "tea party". NOW.

This has gone on forever and people are fatigued and have no patience with the other side. It's getting old and I'll be glad when it's over. McCain wasn't my first choice and I'm very disappointed in his campaign. What's done is done and I have to live with him. He's got my vote. Although the panel found that she misused her power, it was because she didnt prevent her husband from trying to get involved (have you ever tried to stop your significant other from doing something, yeah not so easy). The panel's report shows that the inquiry was partisan and that Palin and her husband, Todd Palin, were "completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten, given his violent and rogue behavior." so suck it!!!

Now, for what the article is about.
Ms. Palin was being investigated for abuse of power. What drove her to do it might have been something that most of us would have probably done. However, the reasons are not in question. The actions are. I would have probably done the same thing if I knew there was someone abusing his power. Again, we only hear what the media wants us to hear. I wish there was truly an unbiased media. Unfortunately for us, I don't think there is. "Alice" was right. There are a lot of people with party blinders on. The constant bickering and denigrating of eachother is ridiculous. Both candidates have really positive and negative attributes. Both are far from perfect as well.
One other thing. I loved how McCain set a woman straight at his rally. And while it is perfectly okay to disagree with someone even be frustrated at their position, it is uncalled for to be disrespectul.
Sarah is the best thing that ever happened to American women with brains. The ones that do not see the obvious positive effects are just oblivious and are lacking common sense.

I'm a registered Democrat, yet I don't think I'm better than anyone else. Whether I agree or not with your opinions, it doesn't make me better. You're right though, some people fear Ms. Palin, but I don't think it's entirely out of envy. Personally, I think she has qualities that can be admired. However, there are things she stands for that I may not agree with. Which is fine, that's what voting is for right? It doesn't mean I will denigrate the woman though.
As far as Bill Clinton goes. HELL YES. That was abuse of power, and it was disgusting. Even if Ms. Lewinsky was a willing participant. A perfect example of how some people are prone to abuse it.
