This summer’s breakout musical sensation, Katy Perry, has been chosen to host the MTV Europe Music Awards, live from Liverpool on November 6th.
We’ll be joining the Hot ‘n’ Cold singer as the “Digital Host” and a presenter for the evening.
Katy has also been nominated in two categories, for best new act and most addictive track.
You know she’s bound to at least win one – she’s hosting!
Richard Godfrey, the executive producer of 2008 MTV EMAs, is exited to have her on board as well. Says Godfrey, “Katy Perry has been one of the freshest and most successful new artists to emerge on the international music scene this year which is witnessed by her nomination in two categories in this year’s awards. We want to pursue a much more informal and relaxed role for the host at this year’s awards but with a definite musical twist and we think Katy will be perfect.”
This will be Katy’s first time hosting an awards show, so let’s wish her luck.
She’ll be joined with performances by Pink, Kind Rock, Beyonce, The Killers, Duffy, and many more.
And joining us to present will be, Beyonce’s lil sis Solange Knowles, Sugababes, and Tokio Hotel.
In a statement by Perry, the singer says, “I was so excited when I heard that I was nominated for two awards, but when I was asked to host the show I wet myself, Fergie-style! To follow in the footsteps of previous hosts Christina Aguilera, Tom Jones, P. Diddy and Snoop Dogg at this prestigious event is an incredible honor. Do they know what they’re getting themselves into? I just hope that I don’t spill my cocktail!”
Well, as long as she doesn’t get wasted on stage like Lily Allen, then she’s all good!
