The way the tidbits are assembled leads us to believe that this is the first and foremost reason that comes to mind for each person, and that is why they're a supporter of McCain/Palin. We don't however hear the question or the entirety of their response.
For example, what if the question was: "How do you feel about Sen. Obama's race and the election?" or "Does Sen. Obama's religion influence your perception of him as a candidate or in a presidential role?".
The responses aren't politically correct in the sense of mainstream America, but to suggest that this is pure ignorance or somehow as result of party affiliation is a grand over-generalization.
Point is, it's hard to judge ignorance. And to assume that ignorance is adhering to a belief isn't always the case.
