I was on prednisone when I was 14, and the "moonface" is unmistakable, and I can tell you it completely sucks when people tell you to lay off the fries when you're struggling with a serious illness. Poor kid. He'll lose the bloatedness once he's off the meds, so hopefully he gets well soon!

This child has all the classic signs from a child on steroids. One of the hallmark signs is "chipmunk" cheeks! He is big because of the medications that he is probably on. Thats not child abuse! He probably is sick with asthma or something.
I mean this in the nicest way possible. I am really worried about how large that child is. He is cute and adorable, but I hope he is healthy. It has been proven that childhood obesity can lead to lower IQ scores later in life. I hope this does not happen to this bright and cute child.

Yes, this boy is sick. He's battling leukemia, and the round face is a side effect of his treatment. I know this boy, I get e-mail updates about him every few weeks…this is no joke. I am a mother of two, expecting my third, and I feel for this boy and his family. They've been through a lot. Please stop your rude comments about him being "fat" and blaming his parents. Mmmm… be careful with the comments about size and weight. That child looks ill to me, and could very possibly be on medication due to a heart condition OR have other health issues. Let me say this….To all of you who make jokes on his appearance, this boy looks as if he is not overweight. I have had the honor of spending time with some children with cancer. The medication that they are on make them swell up, the look exactly like this boy. And even if it turns out he is obese, so what, he is still the cutest thing!

As a fat girl who has been fat all her life, I can say what you all are saying is fucked up. Some of us had great parents who taught us how to love our veggies and fruits and to get out in the world and be active but we are still FAT. People come in different sizes. Everyone is so willing to say that some people are naturally skinny yet the minute one of us fat kids walks into a room, we're gross. Really, pay attention to your own lives and what you ingest. High fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, monosodium glutamate, aspertham…. it's all in our food and we don't pay attention. If you want to be "healthy", don't down this "no fat, no sugar, no carbs" TOXIC crap and buy local home grown foods. And realize that the scale does not dictate health: your ability to do physical activities is.

First let me say I am a nurse. The child is a sweet child, however, it is so cruel to let this child become this obese. This child is at risk for diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Parents need to wake up, these parents are killing their child. There is nothing cute or funny about that.
