Hehe. Thank you. I wasn't thrilled with either candidate, tbh, so I held my nose and voted McCain because I find Obama's opinions on "economic fairness" disturbing. There are winners and losers in life. It is the government's job to provide equal OPPORTUNITY to win. Not to ensure outcomes. I think Obama is more concerned with ensuring outcomes, which is something I don't support.

Palin had an approval rating in Alaska that was 82% it's now 68% - still not bad, but we are talking 626,000 people in the ENTIRE state!! State populations to give you an example: NY 18.7 million / IL 12.4 million / CA 33.6 million. Let's be straight, even her own Alaska newspaper does not endorse Palin.

Oh I don't argue that. Of course approval ratings are a popularity contest. Nonetheless, and regardless of the scant population of her state, as a percent to total she still had a top approval rating if not the top. As a statistical sampling, the population of Alaska is sufficient - if you increased the number threefold, you'd still end up with similar percentages of approval/disapproval.

What have I said about John McCain that is incorrect? I'm all about education and facts, so please, enlighten me. You have stated John McCain is your hero and talk about him a lot, so you must know all about him and can show me the error of my ways. Lets go over the facts again: John McCain was almost the worst student out of nearly 900, 4th last I believe. John McCain crashed several planes whilst in the military. John McCain gave away military secrets when tortured, even though others didnt. John McCain used his father as a means to escape mistreatment, while others suffered. I have the deepest, utmost respect for ALL who serve their countries in the military, even from my Island of criminals (ZING!). What I don't do is throw around the word "hero". Yes, he served his country, did he serve it well? No. A hero? Maybe for signing up in the first place, I'll grant that. But someone to fight over to make the next president? I think not.

I don't live anywhere near California, but if the first name of a "known" governor that comes to mind is Arnold, the Governator of California (insert your best impression of how he says it here). Not sure if he's a good one or not, but he's surely one of the most, if not the most recognizable and popular governors. No common folk even knew Sarah Palin outside of Alaska before McCain chose her for his running mate.

Embo - I don't know how anyone can say John McCain is not a hero. You may not want him to be president, but he IS a hero. He was on his 23rd flying mission when he was shot down. He fractured both arms and a leg, and nearly drowned when he jumped out of his plane. The North Vietnamese crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt and stabbed him with bayonets. They refused to treat his injuries and beat and tortured him for over a year. A year later, when they found out who his father was, they offered to release him. He refused and told them that he wouldn't leave until everyone captured before him was released first. While he was a prisoner, he actively led other prisoners to resist their captors, AND he refused to meet with any anti-war groups while he was held, including that waste of space Jane Fonda. He was in captivity for FIVE AND A HALF YEARS, he lost FIFTY pounds, his hair turned completely white, and he can no longer raise his arms above his head. He received the Navy Commendation medal and the Bronze Star. Pray tell, what about that is NOT heroic?
