Early this week, a man wearing a "No on 8" button was beaten with a "Yes on 8" lawn sign in Torrance, CA.
Police are characterizing the assault as a possible hate crime.
The beater, 23-year old Joseph Storm, is scheduled to appear in the Torrance Superior Court today, Wednesday, for arraignment on a felony charge of a hate crime assault and a misdemeanor count for interfering with another's exercise of civil rights.
Authorities did not identify the victim.
However, it was mentioned that Storm had known the victim since junior high.
In the attack, Storm allegedly knocked the victim down with the Yes on 8 sign, then punched him in the face and choked him. He also called the victim a 'derogatory name for homosexuals' during the beating.
So sad.

When the house convened, a bill was brought forth to ask that the california constitution be modified into defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Out of the seven voters, four of them VOTED not to accept this definition. So now, we are back to square one. Marriage is still undefined. The only reason gay people weren't getting married before was because municipalites refused to issue marriage liscences. THAT is illegal. Everything that has happened so far has been constitutional. Even this Proposition you people are trying to pass is the democratic legal way to make marriage limited to man/woman. So no… nothing has been done illegally. There is absolutely nothing in the state or federal constitution that says marriage is only between a man and a woman. NO ONE STOLE MARRIAGE. It has always been available for anyone who wants it in the first place!!!

It was called Prop 22. 61% of the people voted the marriage should be defined as between a man and a woman. Earlier this year, 4 Judges decided they were going to OVERTURN the peoples vote. Look it up. That IS wrong. And even if you don't agree with this proposition, you should at least agree that we live in a democracy, where 4 people should not be able to change something that was voted for by the ENTIRE state. Right? Although JulesinSD may be going about it the wrong way, she is truthful in her statements. People who support Prop 8 are not opposed to people of the same sex being together, we just want to keep MARRIAGE between a man and a woman. Marriage was made and based upon and man and a woman joining to create offspring. It is scientifically proven that fathers care and look at the the long term nurturing and care of their children while mothers are in the present and nurture the children when the time comes. Mothers and fathers are very different and every child is entitled to a mother and a father. That is right that ever child should be born with. Let's keep it that way. Domestic Partnership allows same sex couples the rights that married couples are allowed. This is not about equality. It is about seperation of church and state. Marriage came from the bible. Therefore, Shouldn't we leave it be?

Just because there is a mother and father does not in any way insure a good enviroment or "desrved one" as you put it . Most of the gay adopted parents I know are taking care of children that were abused or neglected in some way by the childs birth parents mother and father. Everything you worked together for your entire relationship can be contested by your partners family in the case of there death. If your partner is critically injured you may be denied the right to go in the ambulance with them because you are not a spouse. How would this make you feel? Equal? I think not. Anywho, tinye doesn't mean that you wake up one day and think, "you know, I'd really prefer to finish the rest of my life as a homosexual, so from here on out, I'm gay." But it's not a genetic thing that you're born with. God makes it clear in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, so why would he create people with that specific sin? instead, he creates people with the CHOICE to sin. I'm pretty sure a fetus has no concept of whether or not he will choose to love men or women. it's something that is established once you are older through the circumstances of your life, which is why so many men whose fathers were absent throughout their lives or who have been abused by a man have BECOME gay. God doesn't hate the sinner and neither should we. but like any other sin, God wants us to be aware of what we are doing and to do all in our power to stop. sin is inevitable in humans but for those of us who choose to live a christian lifestyle it's our duty to try our hardest not to sin.
also, I don't care whether you agree with me or not. but unless you're in 7th grade I think the name calling and immaturity is unnecessary. we are all entitled to our own opinions and like I said, would you really want to live in a world where everyone thinks the same thing? kind of robotic. it's hard to take your argument seriously when you're acting like a child.

well first of all, if men were supposed to be with men and women were supposed to be with women, why are men and women's bodies made perfectly to fit with each other? if women were supposed to be together, why is the only way they can have sex possible with man-made instruments? why weren't men given eggs as well as sperm, and women given sperm as well as eggs, so that they could make babies together?
and secondly, there have been several stories of people struggling with homosexuality and living miserably with their guilt, and spent so much time praying for God to deliver them from it, and now they have overcome their sin and live a heterosexual lifestyle.
