Im a straight female w/ very few gay friends. Im actually very disappointed that I am no longer a California citizen because I care more about Prop 8 than I do about the actual election right now. Ive been in Catholic schools for 20+ years and I think any Christian who claims to be anti-gay because that is what their religion teaches them is ignorant, naive and brainwashed. Most people that are anti-same sex marriage claim it is for a religious reason. Please give me one religion that didnt have to stand up to hatred in their time before they were accepted. People fought so you could believe what you want, why can't we all join together so that people can love who they love? In a time when love is hard to find, be happy for those that have, no matter their sexual identity. Is it just the 50%+ of divorced people who are jealous that others have found love when theirs failed? LET PEOPLE LOVE!!!

The love two people share is valid to them and no law can alter that, but the reality is that we are a specie that forms societies and the instutution of marriage formally recognizes the partnership of two consenting adults as "offical" and "legally sanctioned" by the society, with all the benefits from that.

And beyond that…if it doesn't pass, for example a gay couple could go into a Catholic church and ask the preist to marry them…if he says no because it is against his religion and he doesnt feel comfortable because of his morals…he can be sued by them. That is not fair, no one should be forced to deal with situations they are not morally comfortable with.

I'm sorry but you are who you are, Gay is not a choice, it's your sexual preference its what you like, it's who you are, I love when people throw in bible talk and stuff to scare people, I'll tell you one thing if there is a god, he doesnt hate anyone, and he doesn't condon you having hate gathering towards gay people or ANYONE for that matter so I will see you in hell i guess cause we're all going there then. This guy needs to be tied up and have the scence knocked into him!
