Today's the big day!
But some of us got out there early and waited in line during the weekend.
One Perezcious reader did just that in Miami on Sunday, and was joined by rapper Pharrell, who waited in line for 5 hours to make his voice heard - just like the rest of us!
Don't let long waits discourage you from voting. Vote. Vote. Vote.
Our spywitness says that the N*E*R*D singer was accompanied by his bodyguard, who assisted with the wait by going out and buying Pharrell some Burger King.
Okay, not all of us are taking a bodyguard to accompany us while we vote!
But, hey, voting can sure work up your appetite!
Ddefinitely don't be discouraged by long lines at the polls today. Your vote matters!
It's just like waiting in line to get into the coolest club - the "I voted" club!

In Germany s renowned weekly news magazine "SPIEGEL" I just read online (in German) that "…….There has been "vote switching" already again this time in several early opened "early-voting" election offices. Voters had pushed "Obama" at the touch screens, however, the voting unit registered and marked a vote for McCain, West Virginia reported at the end of October. There have been similar reports from Colorado, Tennessee, and Texas as well…."
Shoot, I waited in line too. This is why so many people don't vote. You have to wait in line, and then Bush is re-elected, and then you get chosen for grand jury duty.
So who wants to guess when & where the first Riot will be? Riot if he wins, riot if he loses.

I went to vote but the line was so long I am not voting.
Hmmm I will take a wild guess and say he voted for Obama…..
Obama is just the lesser of two evils (cause I think thy are BOTH "right-wing" conservative politicians!) however almost everyone I know here in Germany hopes that he ll win and that the election will not be manipulated as it was last time!
Even though all German papers wrote that for Germany Obama could be worse than Bush cause Obama is thought to demand MORE German military participation in the US wars in Iraq and elsewhere in future than even Bush did.
AND it will not be easy and maybe not even possible for Obama to get the USA out of that economic, military and moral MESS that the Bush Administration has lead you into internationally during their 8-year government! At least, we here hope he wont LIE and won t attack other countries for oil and money like Bush did! (Do not forget Halliburton, Enron, Abu Graib a.s.o.!)

Maybe they do make printouts for the voters to see that their vote was counted properly this time, however, last election was definitely botched!
I think with a Democrat Administration you ll maybe can better solve some of your huge internal(!) problems (which Bush used "wars" to DISTRACT people from his internal messes!) such as a working health insurance and health care for EVERYBODY, more funds for research of new energies (solar, wind, easrth warmth, a.s.o.) so as to diminish your dependency on oil and gas and to reduce the destruction of the earth, and maybe even less LIES and CORRUPTION than with Bush/McCain! And maybe there will be more strengthening of democratic forces in foreign countries instead of giving money and bribe to foreign dictators and maybe more diplomacy than LIES and ATTACKS without any justification!
I wonder if Pharrell even voted before. I too wonder if he even knows who Obama's running mate is.

Va the state that mailed tens of thousands of absentee ballots, to our military serving overseas, out late and now they are saying that the military vote may not be counted because it will arrive too late? The race is very close in W. Va and military voters tend to vote Rep…sounds like dirty politics to me.
Why do you have to "register" to be allowed to vote in the USA?
In Germany every inhabitant eligible to vote, gets an invitation letter to vote with the address of the election office (schools in most instances), and you simply go there on election day, show your passport together with this letter and then get the ballot paper, go to one of the several voting booths and after checkmarking it you throw your ballot paper in the voting box.
I think MORE people would go to vote int he USA if you used this method instead of separate and actively having to register first.
And I never ever had to wait more than a few seconds before I got sa free booth to sit down and vote.
it only took me TEN mintues to vote for MCCAIN!

As a German born American, I voted for what would be best for THIS country and what i thought would be good for my MOTHER country.

I don't understand why the rest of the country does not follow suit. I live overseas now, but am originally from Oregon. In Oregon we vote by mail and have high percentage turn out for our state. It's so easy to vote by mail, the ballot comes to your house, you fill it out in your Pj's if you want to, then put it back in the mail. No waiting in line for hours, no having to take time off of work, it's the best!

From an outside/ non-American perspective, I see Obama's popularity as more of a cult of personality thing but his politics are waaayyy too ultra-liberal for my personal taste.As for McCain, I like his pro-life, pro-family,pro-faith stance but I don't agree with the war in Iraq, and I personally like Palin and admire her strong faith and her courage to stand up for morality and for what she believes in.

This is true!!! I am from Miami and went to early vote at this location too! My friend and I were in line with Pharrell and he waited in line JUST like EVERYONE else. He was extremely nice and to himself. He didn't even want to take pictures because he said it was a time to be political. After he voted though, he posed for a picture with my friend and I! If he can do it, everyone can wait just as long. We waited for FIVE HOURS on sunday!!! Get out and VOTE!!!

Since the majority of comments here tend to be negative, I'm going to throw some positivity in the mix: let's all be grateful that we live in this great country where we are all granted the right to vote for our next leader (which I did this morning, hooray!). Obama and McCain are both capable in their own unique ways, and I think they're both good people at heart. Try to be FOR your candidate of choice, not AGAINST the other.
