Marriage is wholesome, it's binding… it's something that brings integrity and security to a relationship. It builds a family and a special bond between them. Being able to say you are married when it is a heterosexual relationship OR a homosexual relationship carries the same meaning. "Civil Union?" Exactly as shown before, it's like having whites drink out of the nice, clean fountain, and the blacks be forced into using an unfortunate, dirty, unkempt sink solely for them due to the color of their skin.
To discriminate is unconstitutional, it's wrong. No matter what your opinion on same-sex relationships or people, the STATE has no right to define what is "right" and what is "wrong" when it comes to a personal life choice of marrying, loving, and sharing the financial ties, insurances, benefits, etc. with the ones you love. Keep church out of state! I am married and I chose a heterosexual relationship, and I am certain that same-sex marriages do not affect us in any way. Our children will learn about all lifestyles, choices–they will learn about LOVE and its many forms.
I just find it "funny" that like 70% of the donations to Yes on Prop 8 is donated by mormons. I mean, it seems like the message is that a real marriage is between one man and one woman, not between one man and five women?
I'm not from America but I would defiantly vote No on prop 8 if I had the chance.

I know many people right now in the state of Connecticut that are pretty pissed off about this. The way the question was worded on the ballot has tricked so many people, and confused them. Most didnt even realize it had anything to do with gay marriage. It was so horribly worded… alot of people said yes, thinking it meant something else. It should have been an extremely straight forward question….. I am truly dissapointed. Fuck this

Even in Arizona, everyone wants change but only to a point cause they are afraid. but what i would like toknow afrai of what??Everyone has the right to make their own mine. I wish I lived in California….I live in Florida right now, and our version of this has been hugely blocked, a yes on Amendment 2 which entails the same as saying yes to Proposition 8. I would love to see the day that this truly about just gay marriage in general, but I'm curious if this is the same as here. Not making gay marriage legal, but civil unions, correct? As it seems everyone unfortunately believes marriage to be between a man and woman. Listen, the sad thing in life is that their are still people who not just hate, but feel that religion has to rule everything in life. What we should propose is to completely cut out religion in all states. Abolish churches, right to pray and practice, fuck it all up, because THAT is what is tearing this country apart. I wanna move to Arkansas. They've already one upped us, they banned couples that arent married from adopting kids and, according to the arkansas times, only gays cant marry. so gays cant turn innocent children into filth. Hopefully thats on the next ballot in CA. because im sick of seeing the kids who have queer parents, they're being emotionally hurt and it can be noticed by a normal person.

What pisses me off to no end is that people CONTINUE to run on and on about marriage being for a man and a woman. Marriage is not supposed to be about procreation, assholes! Marriage is a legally binding contract between two consenting adults who promise to spend there lives together. If two men or two women chose to enter into that union, so fucking be it. Who the fuck are you to say it's wrong? And there are plenty of straight couples who marry and chose to never have children–if marriage is solely for procreation, why the fuck haven't we outlawed this, too, hmm?
I hope one day this horribly unjust system will finally realize that all men created equally does not just apply to one's skin or religion, but to one's sexuality as well.

Me & my husband voted No on 8. I believe one of the main reasons it got passed because of the wrong way it was supported. The dumbshits who vandalized houses and cars because people had "yes on 8" signs in their yards. You don't scare people into voting for your cause by vandalizing property - it's gonna get the opposite effect…just a tip for next time. Also those incredibly offensive TV ads where they show children - people love children for some retarded reason, and Prop 8 had nothing to do with children. They don't teach marriage in school, at least the ones here in southern california - where were they getting these "facts?" According to CNN, 69% of African-Americans voted FOR Prop 8. It is SHOCKING to me that a group who has suffered from so much discrimination has just voted for prejudice and bigotry. We have come so far, but how is it we still have so far to go?

Or maybe it's another equally progressive area from the SF bay area, Humboldt, Tahoe… you never know. Perhaps the most counted thus far are the little valley towns in nor and so cal!
