Equality Is NOT For All???

It is with great sadness that we report….
Proposition 8 most likely passed in California, effectively writing discrimination into the state constitution and prohibiting gays and lesbians from marrying.
As it stands now, around 52% of Californians voted in favor of prop 8, and 48% voted NO on H8te.
However, all hope is NOT lost!!!!!
About 3 million absentee and provisional ballots have yet to be counted. We know that we - and many of our friends voted via absentee ballots - so hopefully when everything is said and done, the numbers will turn around and the NOs will be in the majority.
You see, EVERY VOTE mattered! We sure hope (lots of hope in this post) that U voted.
Unfortunately, discriminatory measures did pass in Florida, Arizona and Arkansas, treating gays and lesbians like second class citizens.
Today is a great day for most Americans but a sad sad day for gay Americans!

Oh..no!!!!!!! Perez! this makes me so sad for you!!!!!!! UGH!!! People are so sick sometimes! Why can't we all be equal? No matter what sex, race, orientation, etc, we are??? My parents are really conservative and when we went to vote yesterday (In Alabama) they were looking for our Prop 8…..when i told them that Prop 8 was only in Cali, they were mad because they wanted to vote NO on it! HA….my mom is a huge Ellen D fan and she said she wanted Ellen and Portia to get married, and for you to be able to find someone to marry too! HA….i thought it was so funny and cute!
Perez - I don't understand why people want to legislate discrimination and hate. While I actually cried last night knowing that the candidate I supported with both dollars and shoe leather won (and my state went blue), I'm shocked and saddened that people in California voted for discrimination. This is a sad day non-gay USA'ers, too. Keep up the good fight, Perez, and never stop speaking your mind.

I live in FL and am discusted that amendment 2 passed. Its a sad day when you see your fellow americans discriminating against others just because they are gay.
When you look at the picture on this. How can you discriminate on people who are in love with each other???

I voted YES on prop 8..you say that you cant go to schools…walk down the street etc. without being discriminated…? how about you not go to school and walk down the street talking like a female, dressing like a female, acting like a female, how about you act like a normal "male" or "female", and then you wont be discriminated…and to compare that with black peoples opression is dirt low…black people didnt have a choice and to say that this wasnt passed because black people is again shallow..so look at your own comments and realize why prop 8 didn't get passed. Its the "fags" that bring you down like perez hilton, the flamboyant over the top "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT ME IM GAY" gays that brought this down, so dont hate on the straight people that voted yes…hate on your own kind that forced the decision upon us…if you're gay be gay dont let the whole world know…i dont let the whole world know im straight..

That is not fair…EQUALITY FOR ALL….I actually sat down with my kids and esplained to my children how important Proposition 8 was, it was a mutual agreement WE as a family decided to VOTE NO on 8….People who discriminate LOVE is sick….RIGHTS FOR ALL!

If you think this is over, you are sadly mistaken. What you have done is create an actual issue which can be taken to the Federal Supreme Court. You have voted to limit my civil rights, rights which were granted to me by my County Government (Thanks Miami-Dade). If you think we are going to let you nullify our domestic partnership agreements with this hateful amendment then are deluded. The day will come when bigotry and discrimination will no longer have a place in our government. Until then, game on assholes.

We have come so far… but we still have a long way to go. First off I am so fucking STOKED Obama is OUR PRESIDENT!!!! I don't give a rip if he is black, latino, asian, white… all I believe in is what he STANDS FOR. I never saw him as a "black" potential presidential candidate. But as a man who a lot of PEOPLE in this country can relate to. We are all PEOPLE of this country who all deserve the same rights as every other PERSON in this country. So to see my fellow Californians being ripped of their constitutional right as a citizen of the United States of America saddens me. The gay and lesbians of my state will no longer have this right as a citizen to marry. Why? Because of DISCRIMINATION. And I can't think of any group other than the religious groups of this state for putting all their NON-TAXED money, time and effort into the Yes on Prop 8 campaigns. Thank you Knights of Columbus for funding all those commercials filled with LIES. Thank you Mormons, Catholics, and Christians alike for funding and promoting hate on your fellow Californians. The rights the churches use to protect themselves are gonna be the same rights gays and lesbians of California are going to use to fight for their rights. California you made sure to pass on the ethical treatment of animals… you would rather see animals treated better than your fellow Californians?! ONE LOVE!!! COEXISTS!!! YES WE CAN!!! SI SE PEUDE!!!!
Please stop comparing BLACKS and GAYS with one an other (and anyone else for that matter)!!! We are all victims of discrimination no matter WHO we are. Ugh! I live in Arizona, and I voted against the disgusting prop 102. Unfortunately I live in a state full of bigots, republicans, and religious fanatics. I hope Obama will help make our country a better place for ALL.

I know, Prop 102 was passed in Arizona due to the heavy campaigning behind it and the misinterpretation of the bill.

I voted no on prop 2 in FL. but I guess it wasn't enough. This cannot be stood for. We need to rebel against these amendments that clearly eliminate the civil rights of all Americans! Change is what America needs!!! Its time for a revolution!!!!!
As much as I disagree with this prop, majority rules and that's what makes a democracy. It is disappointing to see this pass. I strongly believe that if two people love each other they should be able to be married. It doesn't matter what sex they are. Is it fair that two people of the same sex cannot be married even though they LOVE each other, but two people, one of each sex, can hate each other's guts and be married? Don't give me this "oh the Bible says this" mambo jambo. The last time I checked, the state and religion were separate. Last time the two mixed people were hung as witches.

If youv or your kids have EVER been on a field trip you will know that they send home permission slips so the parents can say yes or no to their childrens involvment with the field trip. I applaud the parents who allowed their children to go because they have OPEN MINDS. Something that you apparently do not have. Do you know what those kids SAW when they went on that feild trip? Love between two people. What do you have against love? Would you ban YOUR kids from going to a wedding between two straight people? How about a wedding between people of different races? ALSO that maybe I was quick to type that its the SAME as the plight of the blacks. in a way it is but at the same it's not. It's all discrimination no matter what way you look at it. Everyone has a right to be free. Everyone SHOULD have a right to get married. I just don't understand why people can't accept those around them for who they are.

this is so sad.. my girlfriend and I just don't understand why people hate us so much. we pay taxes, go to work, love our family, help with the local community but are considered second class citizens based on who we love.
I hope one day people look back at 2008 and say I can't believe it was illegal for gay people to get married. just like we look back and cannot believe women once upon a time didn't have the right to vote.

im not in favor of gay marriage, but i still respect gay ppl i just dont share and do not agree on what they are doing…this has nuthin to do with equality..a marriage is form of a husband and wife. god intended to be that way, he made it that way
