California's Still Counting Ballots - Battle Against 8 NOT Over?!
Of the in-person votes cast on election day, the Proposition FOR H8te 'won' by roughly 506,000 votes.
But, on Wednesday, county officials were just beginning to tally at least 1.6 million leftover provisional and mail-in ballots across California.
According to the LA Times, counties have until Dec. 2 to count the votes, according to the secretary of state's office.
Some officials reportedly said they have more uncounted ballots than normal because of a surge in voting.
We're holding out hope.
We know a ton of people who cast absentee ballots and they voted NO to H8te!!!!

Re: AngstyAngel – actually there use to be an interracial ban back in the days where people of African American and Latin descent could not marry whites. People realized how dumb it was and had it overturned. Too bad theres too many religious bigots in CA to allow people equal rights.
::There's no need to change society's laws::
You're right. We should have never overturned women's rights to voting or white people's rights to own slaves. Society's laws are always just and are never based on the wrong things or hatred or inequality.
::You lost. Just get over it::
Yup. As a society, we shouldn't protest injustices and should just deal with it and let it happen.
::Listen gay rights are u have a civil union and u get the benefits like a married couple. What else do u want I dont get it.::
You don't get it because you're dumb. Civil unions are NOT marriage. They still don't have the same rights even SERIAL KILLERS in this country are allowed to have. That's like saying Blacks can still drink water but they can't drink from the same fountain, they'll have to drink from the river. I don't blame gay people, they shouldn't settle for being deemed second-class citizens. They should stand up and demand their rights, which they will inevitably soon have.
Don't feel bad Perez… my state bans gay marriage too.
i voted absentee and no on 8…lets just hope everyone else did the same
The people have spoken. YES on 8. It ain't about hate, it's about keeping marriage between heterosexuals. Marriage isn't that great to begin with; the divorce rate is close to 50%. Perhaps marriage should be allowed so the homosexuals can learn what divorce feels like!
Statistically the remaining votes should not make any significant difference in the final tally. Perez will probably now add math genius along with political savant and fashion designer icon to his resume.
I voted NO on Prop 8 with a provisional ballot- I WANT MY VOTE COUNTED!!!
JLOVE OR IS IT JHATE- ACTUALLY THE ABORTION NOTIFCATION PROP THAT THE FUNDIE TRASH IS OBSESSED WITH. LETS GET IT STRAIGHT ,THE RELIGOUS ZEALOTS HAVE TRIED TO PASS THAT EVERY TWO YEARS.THEY DONT GIVE UP,THEY DONT MOVE ON,THEY KEEP ON FIGHTING AGAINST WHAT PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED,. I DONT HEAR SCUM LIKE YOU WHINING THAT THEY DONT GIVE UP,EAT SHIT AND DIE ALL YOU REPUBLICAN INBRED BIGOTS AND UNEDUCATED MINORITIES WHO VOTED AGAINST GAY PEOPLES RIGHTS.
Re: Niq the Skank! –
Well no, it's not. Not until the absentee and provisional ballots are counted and the vote is certified.
Re: mollymouse –
Because at this time its a states rights issue, not a national one.
Re: Los Anjealous –
You who voted for mccain weren't voting to take away people's rights. (well… actally, if palin had gotten her way…. but that's a whole other story…)
Re: RashManly –
Well actually, Obama was AGAINST prop 8.
Re: Pig_Nasty –
:: It is a "Christian Ceremony".::
Funny… I was married once, legally married, and I'm NOT a Christian. It's NOT just a Christian ceremony.
Jews, Buddhists, atheists, agnostics, wiccans, pagans, everyone can get married. Oh, except gays (excluding a handful of states).
Guess what people, Gays can marry in several states, and THE SKY HASNT FALLEN.
Re: njpaul0129 –
1/20/12 unless he's reelected
Re: nyisles –
"It has been this way"
Okay, so where can I go buy me a black slave? Cos, yunno, not THAT long ago, THAT was 'the way it had been' and many people saw no need to change it.
"Its been this way" is a piss poor argument, tbqh
Re: verna55 –
@109
Black civil rights (not just a black president, but equal rights FOR blacks) did not come by people just rolling over and taking what they got (separate but equal sound familiar? I got news for you–Separate but equal ISNT EQUAL!).
The ACLU/Equality California lawsuit is completely lacking in merit. It is as if their campaign just spent $40 million on a losing campaign opposing something they now say is a legal nullity. Their position is absurd, an insult to California voters and an attack on the initiative process itself.
i wish people would stop comparing obama's win and mccain supporters having to suck it up to prop 8. mccain losing didn't take away anybody's civil rights. as for kids learning about gay marriage in school, that's NOT true, but i think they should for the same reasons they teach slavery and segregation, the legalization of interracial marriage and women and former slaves getting the right to vote! it's a part of our country's HISTORY and needs to be taught. as for gay marriage being against your religion, YOU don't have to be in one! since when does someone's religion dictate what's in the constitution? as for you not wanting the church to marry gays, the church marries atheists and agnostics. i could go to a church right now and get married, but as long as it was to a man it would be ok. so why don't the supporters of prop 8 get over their hypocrisy and stop discriminating. whether you agree or not you shouldn't get to take away somebody's rights, rights that were granted by the supreme court.
Who were you planning on "marrying" anyway, Perez? LOLRe: Rambotte – Why did so many of you have to vote provisional? Are you illegal immigrants? That's just a BIT too shady to believe!
(Just Google provisional ballots, folks. Regular citizens don't have to vote that way)
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we'll get it someday
I don't care how we get it, but we've got to get it someday…
Wow, now I know where ambition comes from–maybe someday I can buy away someone's rights just because I can too!
I voted through absentee ballot, and i voted NO perez. xo-and bitch below niq the skank, dont read the site if you're such a hater.
Re: theblonde007 –
Tim Robbins almost had to vote provisional in NY because states have purged voter records. He got a court order instead. Problem at polls = provisional ballot
Re: drewbear –
@ 220
AMEN!!
come on. what does the public hear about from gays if it doesn't involve them complaining about this loss?
glory holes, public toilet sex (thanks, senator), michael jackson.
sure, not all gay people do that, but that's the general idea the public gets. unless you expect parents to get their kids to stomach that, and everyone else to, come on. eew.
don't forget lance bass.
unless you can get gays who can actually improve the general image of gays into the media and into people's households, not everyone will accept it. and come on, you're not really aiming for everyone to accept it - you just want more than half so this prop 8 will lose.
Why the hell do Gay people care so much about marriage any way. It not like they made a law that say " men can not go around fuking any other guy's in their pie holes or they @ss. Or that Lesbo's can't eat out another girl!
they can still do what ever they want.. they can live together, fuk together, even have kids together, so what if they can't have an official title of " marriage" . And i mean it is basically blasphemy to be married in a Church .. what about religious rights!?
im so sick of seeing so many fukin homo's on t.v acting like they are better than straight people.. GUESS WHAT.. UR NOT BETTER.. UR EQUAL…
E .Q .U. A. L !
Here's what I've learned from Prop 8:
They think we're losing, but we're winning.
Here's what I mean by that. Most estimates place the GLBT population at about 1-5%. That means that at best there is one GLBT to every 19 straight people. At worst it's 1 to every 99. But here's what I find amazing: the vote! Think about it. There are currently 48% of voters in California standing up for the rights of 1-5% of the population. That's ALMOST HALF of the state! Do you honestly think things could have been even half this good twenty years ago? It would have been a landslide in favor of Prop 8 then. Today, it has ALMOST been declined. That is huge. There are actually several states that DO recognize marriage, not to mention about a dozen others that currently support civil unions. Twenty years ago? Nothing. So, even though we will most likely lose on Prop 8, we are winning overall because of the momentum building up. I think it's absolutely wonderful that almost half of California's population stood up for the rights of the few, even if they were overpowered by the other side. Just think how it will be in another twenty years…
this proposition will probably get vetoed -again- by more judges who take pleasure in playing God in the United States. This is sooo ridiculous.
MARRIAGE is between a man and a woman. Marriage was created by GOD. In this case, "Seperation between the church & state" means get out of the churches traditional marriage. Stop trying to change something God built.
Re: ragazza87 – that's a rip! Okay, to have an abortion, women need to be put under anesthesia which can cause a myriad of problems, they could die, lose a lot of blood, and just never wake up from the anethesia. Not telling someone's parents that their daughter is going to be undergoing a major procedure is WRONG.
& wow, it's funny how a school nurse needs to contact and ask a child's guardian to have the permission to give the kid a freakin' tylenol when their head hurts but the doctor DOESN'T need to tell the parents if their daughter is getting an abortion.
how effed up is THAT.
THAT is America's sickness for you.
Re: to0sweet –
For tht matter, why do STRAIGHTS care so much about the title of marriage?
It's beacuse of the BENEFITS and legal PROTECTIONS.
Re: Niq the Skank! –
SO WHY ARE YOU POSTING, IDIOT
Re: valerina –
And of course, GOD is the ultimate authority here in America… come on, stop with the religious arguments aready, they hold no water
