There's Still Hope for Al Franken

What a nail biter!

The senate race in Minnesota between Norm Coleman and Al Franken is far from over.

As of Wednesday, Coleman, the incumbent Republican senator led the Deomocrat challenger and former SNL player, Franken, by ONLY 477 votes!

And, according to Minnesota law, recounts are required in races with a winning margin of less than one-half of 1 percent, although a losing candidate may request that it not go forward.

Franken announced his support for a recount and said that his campaign was investigating alleged voting irregularities at some polling places in Minneapolis, "Let me be clear: Our goal is to ensure that every vote is properly counted."

He also went on to say that "a recount could change the outcome significantly."

However, Coleman urged Franken to waive his right to a recount, saying that the prospect of changing the result was remote and that the $86,000 'cost' of a recount would be costly to taxpayers.

It's 477 votes. 477!

That's a miniscule margin, Coleman!

If Minnesota really needs money to cover the cost we're sure a ton of people would be willing to donate to the cause of democracy!

Where should we send our checks?

I'd donate to cover the cost of a recount, and I'm not even a Minnesotan.

    Re: TheGirlErin
When you're a politician, you have no "personal' life.

Let Franken pay for it. He's a joke.

    "It's 477 votes. 477! That's a miniscule margin, Coleman!"

Then YOU pay for the effing recount! It's easy to say when it's not your money. Besides, Franken is an idiot and if you look hard enough on the internet you will find that NO ONE wants Franken in DC including the Dems.

Re: MLD – Yes, I agree, but don't seek out his home, wife and children - that is his personal life. Plus…there are a lot of rumors and accusastions that people cannon substantiate.

Fuck Norm Coleman, coming from a lifelong resident of Minnesota. He's slimy as fuck and bringing hockey back to MN doesn't count for shit. He's just Bush's little pet and has no trustworthy qualities about him. Lose that damn eastcoast accent already. You should at least try to talk like us! loser…
Not so much that I want Franken to win, but anybody is better than Coleman.
And who cares what it costs. We don't need another Florida situation on our hands. Minnesotans need to get it right, especially after I saw a (fellow Minnesotan) moron talking to John McCain claiming Obama was an arab…
