Melissa Ethridge Shouldn't Have To Pay Taxes

Filed under: Politik > Melissa Etheridge

wenn1258477__opt.jpg

With the passing of that stupid Proposition 8 in California, many celebs are speaking out such as Ellen DeGeneres did.

Well, singer Melissa Etheridge is speaking out as well.

Ethridge planned to legally marry her partner Tammy Lynn back in early October. But with the new proposition, the right for gays to marry is gone.

And Ethridge isn't too pleased about that. In fact, she thinks she shouldn't have to pay taxes. What for? She's not being treated like a regular citizen, why pay like one?

Ethridge took the time to write a response to the proposition, and here is some of what she has to say:

"Okay. So Prop 8 passed. Alright, I get it. 51% of you think that I am a second class citizen. Alright then. So my wife, uh I mean, roommate? Girlfriend? Special lady friend? You are gonna have to help me here because I am not sure what to call her now. Anyways, she and I are not allowed the same right under the state constitution as any other citizen. Okay, so I am taking that to mean I do not have to pay my state taxes because I am not a full citizen. I mean that would just be wrong, to make someone pay taxes and not give them the same rights, sounds sort of like that taxation without representation thing from the history books.

Okay, cool I don't mean to get too personal here but there is a lot I can do with the extra half a million dollars that I will be keeping instead of handing it over to the state of California. Oh, and I am sure Ellen will be a little excited to keep her bazillion bucks that she pays in taxes too. Wow, come to think of it, there are quite a few of us fortunate gay folks that will be having some extra cash this year. What recession? We're gay!

Oh and too bad California, I know you were looking forward to the revenue from all of those extra marriages. I guess you will have to find some other way to get out of the budget trouble you are in.

When did it become okay to legislate morality? I try to envision someone reading that legislation "eliminates the right" and then clicking yes. What goes through their mind? Was it the frightening commercial where the little girl comes home and says, "Hi mom, we learned about gays in class today" and then the mother gets that awful worried look and the scary music plays? Do they not know anyone who is gay? If they do, can they look them in the face and say "I believe you do not deserve the same rights as me"? Do they think that their children will never encounter a gay person? Do they think they will never have to explain the 20% of us who are gay and living and working side by side with all the citizens of California?

I got news for them, someday your child is going to come home and ask you what a gay person is. Gay people are born everyday. You will never legislate that away."

    GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

Just because people want to secure the institution of marriage does not mean they are HATEFUL or IGNORANT.

  2. 202

Re: LVlove – 192 - actually, in 126, that is EXACTLY what you said… "Just don't take away marriage from ME!" And that is an exact quote. Marriage isn't YOURS to take. I am a straight Republican woman, and if Melissa wants to marry another woman, she should be able to. God has NOTHING to do with marriage OR children. I was married by a reverend and the word GOD was not in the ceremony ONCE. I don't have children either. Does that mean that my marriage is somehow less than yours? This proposition WILL be overturned, just like the last one. And in less than two years, mark my words, there will be gay marriages all over California, and it will be a wonderful thing.

  3. 203

    Re: Miss_Mila – you're a stupid cunt.

  4. 204

ThisRe: The World is Now a Scary Place

I don't know if I have to implant this in your brain or not, MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN.

Just because of your selfish actions, we don't have to change what already is!

  5. 205

Cool. Don't pay. Your lifestyle works well in prison.

  6. 206

Re: LVlove – What does secure the institution of marriage mean? I asked this of another one of your ignorant hateful religious zombies but have no answer yet. Now what do you think the huge divorce rate is doing to the institution of marriage? Don't you think that might be hurting the your good name of marriage? Based on your very sound logic maybe we should get a ban on divorce on the ballot. And explain exactly how two in love committed human beings wanting to be married like you are impact your life?????

  7. 207

Shall I call you ignorant hetero-marriage phobes?

No, I won't lower to your level.

  8. 208

Re: LVlove – 209, you couldn't POSSIBLY be any lower than you already are, DEAR.

  9. 209

    Re: mattc101

Maybe if you have some respect I will.

    But you got none.

  10. 210

    Re: mattc101

    Ahhh you're entertaining.

  11. 211

    Stop whining.

If it was 52 to 48 in favor of gays, would you be complaining now?

  12. 212

In 2000 prop 22 passed 61 to 38. In 2008 Prop 8 passed 52 to 48. Young voters overwhelmingly said NO to 8. I just have to say one thing. All of you haters who don't want to see gays get married better prepare yourselves. It may not have happened this time but it obviously WILL happen and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it, LOL. The younger people of this country are fortunately more enlightened, accepting, and open minded thank GOD. And as time passes on discriminating haters like you will be come outnumbered or you will just die off. The funny thing is that I am not even gay but I can not wait until the day when religious zombies like you are extinct.

  13. 213

Re: LVlove – 206 - by the way, what selfish actions are you speaking of? What have I done? Been tolerant? Open minded? Loving of all people and walks of life? I would say that you calling marriage "MINE" is a tad more repugnant and selfish than my crime of tolerance.

  14. 214

The gay community needs to quit whining about no gay marriage in California! California has spoken loudly twice now. It is time for them to get out and go to Massachussets where they are welcome!!

  15. 215

Re: LVlove – Of course dear. You are the sane loving peaceful rational one, right? You just want to lovingly take away other American's rights. LMAO!

  16. 216

Re: mattc101 – 214 - I think I love you. How do you feel about bigamy? We could move to Utah. No, better not, because LVlove and Genesis probably live there with their polygamist hubbies and 25 homophobic and intolerant children.

  17. 217

Re: LVlove – It is funny how you or no one in your cult can answer any real questions. Wait maybe it's because you have no logical answers.

  18. 218

    Re: mattc101

Really? Which haters must you be talking about?

See, now you are the hater.

    Hypocrites. Hmm.

Just because I'm not pro-gay, does not mean I am not open-minded. Way to go matt…..why don't you go on and redefine everything?

    And btw, you thanked God.

  19. 219

    Re: mattc101

English lesson 101 of the day: To secure the institution of marriage means to keep marriage as it was originally intended, as much as we can in a world of gays and nutbars and perverts and adulterers and chronic divorcers and idiots.

Let's get YOUR facts straight here. The whole point of marriage is to come together as a couple for the production of children under the Church. Since the Church part has mostly fallen away because of the breakdown of the family unit and declining religious populations its most modern use is to unite a man and woman in matrimony for a lifelong partnership.

The simple fact that gays have come out of their closets and want to be loud about what they do with their thing does not mean they can just take a tradition between men and women and bastardize the hell out of it and make it fit for them.

Get your own thing and stop stealing.

  20. 220

    Go ahead,m don't pay them…I dare ya.

  21. 221

Word! She's got a good point.

  22. 222

Melissa, if you want to live with your girlfriend and have a long, happy life together, then fine thats great. There is absolutely nothing wrong with loving whoever you choose, but pay your taxes. The people of California voted for 'Proposition 8' to go through, forbidding homosexual partners from marrying eachother. The problem I have with this whole situation is that the definition of marriage is 'The union between a man and a woman.' Homosexuals are trying to change that to include themselves. Marriage is between a man, woman, and God. Homosexuality is a sin, and is not recognized in Christianity. Humans did not create the definition of marriage to be ebtween a man and a woman, God did. So do not try to change that. The people of California did the right thing and protected the definition of marriage. Now Melissa, what you need to do is to move on, get a cival union, and PAY YOUR TAXES!!!!

  23. 223

Enough with the HATE, OPEN MINDED, IGNORANT comments.

    That is all you gottt.

Just because Obama won doesn't mean that people have to be liberal or that gay marriage needs to be passed.

It is the young, brain washed people who aren't the open minded ones.

  24. 224

I don't necessarily agree with Prop 8. And I see her point on the taxes…but we legislate morality every day. And we have from the start.

  25. 225

Re: Genesis – You are just as entertaining. Your silence speaks volumes I must say.

  26. 226

Re: Mojojojo – I'm a straight woman and gays do have the same right as me. I"m not allowed to marry someone of the same sex either.

    hahahahahaha - best post ever

  27. 227

Re: Miss_Mila – Wow, really? You must be pretty young. I grew up being taught gay people weren't born that way. I have since lived life and witnessed for myself…sometimes you see kids as young as 6 or 7 and it's SO obvious they are homosexual. The Bible doesn't say being homosexual is wrong by the way…it (depending on how your read it), AT MOST, says that homosexual sex is wrong. Being gay and celibate is NEVER EVER stated as being wrong in the Bible.

  28. 228

I'll be freaking mad as hell the day our school system deems it necessary to explain gay and lesbianism to my kids! I totally agree that marriage shouldn't be redefined. Sorry, it's true, being gay IS A SIN!! I really, really worry for my children's future…

  29. 229

Re: mattc101 – That's funny, I haven't heard a logical statement from YOUR "cult" or any valid reason why gays should be together. Nobody proves a good point, and none of you are convincing.

  30. 230

taxes are the law, pay them or go to jail. majority rules, try again….

  31. 231

She should be President. What a right on explanation - I never even thought of it that way- I would be honored to attend her wedding :)
    I love the Gays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. 232

Re: momof41988 – What country do you live in? You seem confused. This country isn't ruled that way. Majority rules is what happens in a true Democracy. We live in a Republic. We haven't lived in a Democracy since the Articles of Confederation. Get with the times…you're a couple hundred years behind.

  33. 233

Re: Genesis – Of course of course it is GOD. Gos is always the answer. How predictable. Since I am so obviously misguided and uninformed, can you enlighten me on why your religious beliefs should dictate our laws? I don't believe that god created anything so why do I or anyone else have to live by that dogma? Please explain.

  34. 234

Re: miz_hilton – That definition of marriage is your definition based on your religious beliefes. I will ask this question AGAIN since I never get a straight answer. Why do I or anyone else who does not believe in god have to live by your fairy tale bullshit. I don't believe in GOD or that GOD created anything or defined anything. Is there not a separation of church and state in this country? Why can't you people ever a question logically? By the way, what would you do if your child was gay?

  35. 235

Re: Dixie77 – 229 - I too was raised to believe that gays CHOSE to be gay. But then I was made Godmother to a beautiful baby boy. By the age of 7, it was obvious to me and his father (a badass biker type, not fem in any way, by the way) that little Josh was probably going to be gay. Sure enough, at 15, he told me he was gay, and last year, at 16, he came out. He didn't CHOOSE to be gay. What 7 year old CHOOSES to be gay? He wasn't even sexually active at 7. He just knew he was different, and as he got older, he was attracted to boys, not girls. He has led a very difficult life because of it; but it was NEVER a choice. He was BORN that way. And if there IS a God, god MADE him that way. And by the way, Josh believes in God AND he goes to church. He is an infinitely better person than I, but I would like to think I had something to do with that.

  36. 236

    Well said.

  37. 237

Re: mattc101 – The day you meet your maker, ask him those questions. I doubt you will enjoy the "coziness" hell brings….

  38. 238

it's too bad that prop 8 looks like it has passed but i hate to break it to ms. ethridge but those who live in d.c. are still taxed without being represented because they have no congressmen or senators.

  39. 239

I got a fun question for everyone who doesnt believe in GOD. Eternity is a pretty long time isnt it? If I am wrong and there is not a GOD what have I lost? I am dead and in a box! But for you people that don't believe in GOD if there is a GOD. You have lost for ETERNITY. Let that sink in a little bit!

  40. 240

Re: Kilee Lynn – Okay maybe you can answer my questions. Doubt it though. Is there not a separation of church and state in this country. Why is my belief which is atheism or no belief shall I say, any more valid then your belief? Hello, not everyone is a Christian than good. Marriage is now a goverment institution and exactly how does the goverment have the right to define it only bewteen a man and a woman. The supreme court said that is unconstitutional but now the WILL of the people said otherwise based on lets say it altogether GOD. Well here we are with GOD again. So I ask again please tell me why half the state has to listen to your half because of your religious beliefs???

  41. Sgirl says – reply to this

    241

    Re: mattc101
I bet you are sck of hearing it. Doesn't make it any less true though does it? Get over yourslf. Are you seriously comoparing chosing a deviant freak lifestyle to slaves or women? Get over yourself freak. Men and woman should be married only! Ever heard of procreation? Why do you think that is not possible between two homos? Get a clue moron! Shut up already it only makes you guys look worse. You chose to be a fag now deal with it!

  42. 242

    Re: miz_hilton

"Marriage is between a man, woman, and God. Homosexuality is a sin, and is not recognized in Christianity. Humans did not create the definition of marriage to be ebtween a man and a woman, God did. So do not try to change that."

Fornication is also a sin, so you all you people fucking before you get married shouldn't be allowed to marry either since your God doesn't look nicely upon you all getting your groove on–some of you with multiple partners before you decide on the one you want to marry–before marriage. And to those those who are married, your marriage should become null and void the minute the you commit adultery and you should be banned from ever marrying again, since that's goes against one of the ten commandments. Divorce should not allowed, however, because you made promises to your God til death do you part, but I guess it's easy for some of you to overlook those vows when divorce is just much more convenient. After all, you pray a lot, go to church every Sunday, and condemn fags and other sinners, so naturally you think he'll forgive you. Some of you who are defending marriage by using the "God" argument don't realize the hypocrisy of your statements. You also make your arguments so easy to refute, so keep them coming.

  43. 243

Re: The World is Now a Scary Place – Amen to that. Awesome point!

  44. 244

Re: Genesis – You rock. A logical voice on an illogical board.

  45. 245

    Re: mattc101
Are you SERIOUSLY this stupid??!! I said NOTHING about MY religious views or that religion even COUNTS in the argument… read thoroughly!!!
I don't give a flying fuck if you think religion has nothing to do with it, the truth of the matter is that MARRIAGE IS RELIGIOUS and was created FOR THE CHURCH.
I don't even believe in God, you stupid fuck, and I couldn't care less what religious bible thumpers have to say about God says this or that or whatever. Have your questions been answered to your satisfaction yet??

  46. 246

Re: Kilee Lynn – Two gay people should be together for the same reason you are together with your husband (god help him). Because you are two people in love and committed to spending the rest of your life togther and creating something special. Two human beings created equally. What more reason do you need? I can't wait to hear this!

  47. 247

Re: The World is Now a Scary Place – Dude, you are preaching to the choice? I didn't say people choose to be gay. I said they were born that way.

  48. 248

Re: mattc101 – Why does half the state have to listen to you because of YOUR religious beliefs? Or, lack of them. Also, yes, there is separation of church and state…you have made that clear. But if there is, then why should we do what atheists want? Because God offends them? Also, the constitution was BUILT on Christianity/religion. Fine, I don't care if the government has the right to define the instituion of marriage or not, the point is still that-gays cannot be together based on the basic laws/facts of life. Maybe they can love each other, but it is wrong to be together, putting God and religion aside. I don't even know why you brought religion into the conversation. You also didn't answer my question on my gays SHOULD be together, everyone is always questioning our beliefs but we shouldn't have to prove them in the first place. This shouldn't even be an argument. Please, tell me, one valid reason.

  49. 249

I don't understand how gays getting married affects my marriage or marriage in general for that matter. They are human beings who deserve the same rights as everyone else. It inuriates me that these close minded religious groups feel the need push their beliefs on others. I hope the Mormon, Catholic and any other church that supported this piece of garbage bill gets picketed day and night. I also want their tax exemption taken away from them. Stop acting lucking bleeping Christians and start acting like Christ.

  50. 250

Re: Genesis – Testy testy. I have to apologize. I was confusing your statements with one of the other intolerant assholes on this board. There are just so many. Marriage may have started in the church but marriage is now a legal binding goverment license that encompasses many rights into it which gays do not get as a couple. So you don't believe in god? You are not a peace loving christian? Why is is that you don't want gays to marry then?

  51. 251

Re: mattc101 – I have not tried to be mean or offend you in any way, I've just tried to have an adult conversation/argument because I like hearing others' opinions. You have absolutely no reason to think that I am not able to answer questions, or that I treat people (my husband?) badly. You don't know me, anything about me, or if I'm even married. Don't bring ridiculous comments into this. Please be a little more open-minded. I can't even listen to anything you say when you act like a teenager.

  52. 252

    Re: mattc101
No, no, and no. Ugh, you seriously need to be slapped HARD with the bitch stick.
Try to rearrange your tiny brain around this for a second: think of marriage as a club. A club for single, straight people to get together with another single, straight person and get membership for life (or until divorce, apparently). Straight people created this club. Straight people built this club. If you aren't straight or single, you don't get in, period, end of story. You can't get membership with someone who's closely related to you, retarded, non-human, underage, or the same gender as you.
What most people want to say to the gays is that you're ineligible for a membership and we don't want to bend the rules that much.
God forbid a straight person tried to win a gay award or get a gay scholarship or any sort of good stuff that a gay person could otherwise have. It's the same as a white guy trying to something reserved for black people. If it's a black only club and you're white, tuck your lip back in and stop disturbing the shit. Find your own club — or better yet, MAKE your own — and stop barging your way in where you're not wanted, that's just plain rude.

  53. 253

Re: mattc101 – I already said two people can love each other, regardless of race, gender, religion, etc. It's inevitable. However, that doesn't make it right, based on the facts of life. I had asked to give a different opinion besides that they "love" each other. That's obvious, and everything you said in that comment is based on love. I want a valid reason.

  54. 254

Re: Sgirl – Why don't you just put a measure on the ballot to throw all fags in the overn along with everyone else you hate. If anyone looks like a fool on this board it is you you evil hateful bitch. Why are you on a website that is run a an openly gay man. Fucking hypocrite. You are a scary scary scary woman. I feel so sad for your children if you have any.

  55. 255

I agree. And as for you shithead homophobes, the gays are coming for your children, and there's nothing you can do about it….

  56. 256

i support gay marriage, but if you work in the US, you owe income taxes, period. regardless of citizenship.

  57. 257

Re: DanielDax – Damn that was a great post. Thanks for being another voice of reason on a board of ingnorant intolerant haters.

  58. 258

Does it REALLY matter why people are gay? It's obviously a genetic issue of some sort, whether biological or environmental is up for argument. The fact is that there's enough gays who want to be as loud as they can to force-feed how NORMAL being gay is and putting your thing where is obviously doesn't belong so that we all start to like them and accept their lifestyle.
I accept all people, but I do not accept all behaviours. This is not HATE, ignorance (because I know a helluva lot more than SOME of you parroty, broken-record bleeding heart liberals who thing equality means no boundaries.
    Cheers.

  59. 259

Re: Kilee Lynn – I don't need to give you a reason why two consenting adults who are in love should not be together. That is insane. The better question to you is why shouldn't they be together. Can you answer that question without it being based on YOUR religious beliefs????

  60. 260

Re: Sgirl – 243 - once again, a perfect example of the ignorant and intolerant people reacting with crass name calling because you lack the intellect to debate the issues rationally.

  61. 261

Re: Kilee Lynn – Okay aside from my apparent rudeness which I am so sorry for maybe you can try to put forth a logical arguement not based on your religion. Wanna try?

  62. 262

Re: Dixie77 – 249 - I was agreeing with you, not disputing your comments my friend!

  63. 263

::Not being able to marry doesn't mean the people of California think you are subhuman. ::

Anything less than equal basic human rights IS subhuman.

::Civil Unions give you all the same rights.::

    Actually, it doesn't.

::Its a word just like Gay, fag, queer, queen, fairy, and any others that the gay community adopted.::

Those are not "just" words. They are inflammatory and hateful and I hope you say them in a room full of homosexuals or use the N word in a room full of blacks and get the whooping you deserve.

::the people have spoken.. get over it. it was OBVIOUSLY GOD WILL.::

Yes. Just like the people had spoken and it was god's will for whites to own slaves and for women to not have the right to vote. Do not even DARE to bring God into a hateful situation. He's better than that.

  64. 264

omg! i can't believe some of the things people such as FAGS SHOULD BE SMOKED, Press_Enemy Niq the Skank! have vomited on to my screen. I am appalled at what lack of respect for your fellow man and woman,That you could attack which is what is should be a right for gay couples to be treated equally it is unfair for them to be treated unequally and then ask them to pay huge amount of tax To be treated as an outlaw for being in a loving stable relationship with children. And as for the negative backward uninformed comments id take a long hard look at yourselves in the mirror perhaps you are gay?. cheers perez xx

  65. 265

I can see a sad day when some individuals who voted agianst Prop 8 find out the have a gay child. Can you imagine the conversation when they ask why there are not equal in the states eyes or why they can not marry??Mommy who would vote for that?
There parents might look at them and state "I voted against it"
I do not belieave you deserve any rights.. Sad very Sad

  66. 266

::I respect gays completely, and I have gay friends. They are still people, and we are all equal. The thing is, you can love someone, no matter what gender, race, religion, etc. But marriage should be traditional, between a man and a woman. If you don't believe in God, that's your decision as well.::

I feel REALLY bad for your gay friends (if you actually have any). They deserve a true friend and you clearly aren't that. That's like saying "I like my black friends, but I don't think they should drink from the same water fountain." Prick. If they are "still equal" and "human", then why deny them the same rights everyone else has? Again, prick. Do not drag God into your hateful arguments and bigotry. Jesus said nothing about homosexuals and taught to love your neighbors and treat them as you'd like to be treated (so maybe they should deny you the right to marry?) Not to mention, the writers of the Bible also thought the earth was flat, and the Bible also calls eating shrimp and lobster an abomination, so I guess you're going to hell too. This isn't even a religious argument in any way. Not only because of a little thing called SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE, but because there are plenty of religious people who support gays and equal rights, there are more churches opening every day that allow gays into congregations, and there are many religious gay people. So, sorry honey, you can't use religion as an excuse to hate, because a lot of people DON'T.

  67. 267

BTW, to all the people who weren't smart enough to figure this out - Melissa Ethridge talking about not paying her taxes was meant to be figurative, not literal.

  68. 268

Bitch still has to pay taxes, just like everybody else. It isn't like she is getting treated sub-human, the state just isn't recognizing same-sex marriage. Gays lost the vote, stop whining. The Republicans aren't going around protesting all over the place, why can't the gays just accept that the world isn't willing to accept their unions legally? It's a slight against God anyways.

  69. 269

She seriously needs to chill. So the fuck what if the law didn't pass. If you have to change a law to make it right then it's just that..NOT RIGHT. 2 people of the same sex should not be able to marry. I don't believe that same sex marriage is right. It is very unnatural. A Lot of 2omen are in lesbian relationships for the wrong reasons. I believe a women who wishes to be a man sometimes persuade other females to be with them. A Lot of women have hidden agendas. Plus I don't think people in homosexual relationships should be allowed to parent children. They have found a loop hole in the in vitro system. In Vitro was intended to help infertile heterosexual couples.

  70. 270

Re: Genesis – I might like getting slapped with the stupid stick way to much. So my tiny brain has found one tiny flaw in your creative analogy. Your exclusive little club has had a merger with a much bigger club called the US government. Now there are alot more members in your club. Members you may have not wanted but because of this merger the rules of the club now apply to everyone. You might want to think marriage is your little club but it isn't so get over it. All of this conversation is fun and all but you are not going to win and you know it. It is coming no matter what any of you say and it will be so much fun to see when it happens. Have a good day haters.

it's 52.5%, you stupid dyke. guess homos can't count or read.

  72. 272

Love her and Tammy Lynn. Wish I could've voted.

  73. 273

Re: Miss McGillicutty – "Not being able to marry doesn't mean the people of California think you are subhuman. It just means they don't want to redefine marriage. If it had been banned by 51% none of you would be complaining at all. It passed, it sucks for you, now move on. The issue will be raised again in the future, believe me. But in the mean time, go get married in Massachusetts. "

    WORD TO THAT!!!

  74. 274

    Re: CuddlyCarla
I don't know who you're yelling at, learn to use the "reply to this" option but why would you automatically be a bad friend because you don't agree with your friend's take on gay marriage? A good friend of mine is gay and he knows where I stand on gay marriage… but he's not a complete imbecile who thinks he can only be friends with gay-friendly people. I wouldn't go to his wedding, and he wouldn't bring a boyfriend to mine because we respect each other and have our own set of beliefs. That's not being a bad friend, that's standing behind your ideals and defending your traditions.

  75. 275

We don't want her in Canada….YOU keep the whiner.

  76. 276

    Re: mattc101
    *Points and laughs* Loser.
I love it when the back themselves into a corner.

  77. 277

We legislate morality ALL the time. Try running around naked on the street, or exposing yourself, or rapiing, or being drunk in public. No one says she can't have a civil union and demand rights for her "spouse". No one says that at all. WHY don't they put some energy into writing a bill that WILL pass- but NOOOOOOOOOoo, they'd rather boohoo and act like they have no rights. They can make every legal right they want by signing a regular contract with their partner. but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. it's better to bitch and say stupid things about taxes. If she voted for Obama (and she did), she will go to federal pound you in the ass prison for tax evasion. That might be what SOME gays want, but it's not a lot of fun to be locked up. Not very proactive to just complain and threaten.

  78. 278

Re: Genesis – Please explain how I backed myself into a corner. This should be quite interesting. I like how your "ideals" & "traditions" neatly cover up discrimination. I guess tradition does sounds alot better. You didn't even respond to my post tho Mr. awesome debater. Talk about being backed into a corner. By the way why don't any of you answer the question as to what you would do if your child was gay. Also since you don't believe in god and are not religious, what are your ideals and traditions based on? I am so glad I came on here today so you can teach me almighty one.

  79. 279

Re: Cherry Bomb – I am sure you know all about being locked up. Dumbfuck, exposing yourself, rapiing, or being drunk in public are acts that are potentially harmful to others (rape WTF) What a god damned stupid comparison. I love arguing you religious zombies. It is so easy cause you are so dumb

  80. 280

Re: Cherry Bomb – 279 running around naked on the street, exposing yourself, rape and being drunk in public are all CRIMES. Of course they are regulated. Being GAY isn't a crime. Learn the difference DEAR.

  81. 281

Re: LVlove – You're defensive about someone telling you you're ignorant like Melissa is defensive about people telling her she can't have a wife. If she can't have a wife you're definitely ignorant.

  82. 282

Re: Genesis – Hey, don't flip your wig because you're not clear with expressing your thoughts.

  83. 283

That Narrow minded cunt…just because you don't agree with all the rules doesn't mean that none of them apply to you. I disagree with drunk driving laws, progressive taxes, the ban on MJ & The law that says I can't marry "two chicks at the same time." But I still follow them. Sorry your statesmen & women disagree with your what you believe should be right and wrong…so either move or deal with it. I cannot stand these arrogant fucks that think because someone somewhere pretends to care what you think that you should degrade the better portion of the voting public in the state in which you reside. You are welcome to your opinion just remember you live in america and you deal with the popular rule. if you want to live by your rules only go be the dictator of your own country.

  84. 284

Re: tinffx – You're beyond ignorant, you're plain stupid. Seriously, comparing lack of civil rights to drunk driving? And, you're wrong about something else, we do not have to live with laws that are unconstitutional. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

  85. 285

Re: BlancheD – I really like you! Someone who clearly makes sense

  86. 286

Re: mattc101 – I never said I was religious, and I asked that we leave religion out of it. You, for some reason, keep bringing it into the conversation. I already said, ASIDE from God, it's the facts of life. People can love each other regardless-they can love anything. But in order for people to reproduce, and for the world to go on, it can't be full of gays-it doesn't make sense. And yes, I would like a reason without "love" because no one has convinced me or given me any facts on how they should be together. Men and women can be together based on the facts of life, that's how it's been since the beginning. What do gay people do with each other? Finger each other? Have buttsex? Wear strap-ons? It's not real sex and it doesn't mean anything. Man and woman were created for each other. There are no facts that gays should be together, and there is no proof they should. If gays should be together, how come it hasn't been something that people really approve of until now? The world's been around longer than we can imagine. You'd think, since love and happiness are the best feelings, that people would've recognized gays should be together forever ago.

  87. 287

    Re: mattc101

If my kid was gay, no I probably wouldn't like it but I'd learn to deal with it out of love for my child. What are you hoping I'll say, that I'd beat the kid and kick him out of the family and deny that I have a kid? I still wouldn't support gay marriage, and if my kid asked why I'd say exactly why.

Not that MY religious beliefs are any of your business, God doesn't enter into it at all for me, nor does He need to. My ideals obviously aren't based on religious, and you're not privy to my life story, which is what you'd need to understand my ideals and beliefs. Logic, biology, and reality play into it a lot.

And if you're not going to READ my answers then stop repeating your questions, it's tiring having to scan through for new idiocy.

  88. 288

Marriage is NOT a human right, it's a social sanctioning of a union. Well, society has spoken, and now, BOO HOO, you just don't like what they have to say.

I don't like my tax dollars paying for several generations of lazy, illegal, dysgenic hordes breeding out of control and being supported on my dime. Perhaps I should withhold my CA income taxes, too.

  89. 289

Re: Kilee Lynn – I can't even dignify that pile of bullshit with a response. You are a very sick and disturbed person.

  90. 290

Re: BlancheD – You are an asshole. I disagree with the marriage ban. Just because I think Melissa is a stupid pig doesn't mean I am homophobic or "ignorant." Why don't you just call me a gay hater, which is what I think you mean when you say "ignorant." My post had nothing to do with the ban itself, only the stupid comments made by Ms ethridge. it is arrogant to propose that one not follow the rules because they don't like them. You don't always get your way, right or wrong. That is part of life. you do, in fact, have to follow them (or avoid detection).

  91. 291

omg her words are making me excited.. F prop 8!!!!! get with the times 51% of you. let's take away the right of heterosexual marriage, see how you feel. it's sooo religiously based.. F!!!

  92. 292

Paying taxes it's not about choice. You should pay taxes even though you are not USA citizen but live there.Paying taxes and citizenship don't have any connection.

  93. 293

Re: CuddlyCarla – I'm sorry, did I EVER once say I was religious or believed in God? NO. People can have opinions and can think for themselves. I'm not going state if I am religious or not. It shouldn't matter. The thing is, we all have different opinions, beliefs, values, morals, etc. I disagree with abortion, but I know people that have gotten abortions and it doesn't make me think differently of them. I'm an environmentalist, but I have many friends who don't care about global warming whatsoever and that's their opinion. It doesn't mean I'm a bad friend, and you're ignorant for assuming things about people. You don't know anything about me. Your analysis with African/Americans and fountains is absolutely ridiculous and doesn't prove any sort of point.

  94. 294

Brilliantly put!! I'm still surprised that the proposition wasn't voted against by a landslide. I expected there'd still be prejudiced people around but I just didn't think it was 50% of the population!

This is hardly different than African Americans and women not having the right to vote last century. If "all men are created equal" when does the country plan on finally officially recognizing that?

  95. 295

Re: CuddlyCarla – I'm sure my gay friends disagree with choices I make, but that doesn't make me like them any less. Please, can't we all have different opinions? Doesn't that make this world beautiful? If we all thought the same, everything would be boring and there would be nothing to talk about. Exactly, some religious people are for gay marriage. Good for them. One more example on how we're all different people. What you believe in doesn't define you and it shouldn't matter. Once again, we have different opinions and I am respecting yours, that you believe in gay marriage. I like hearing other people's opinions and I'm glad you have an opinion. Now, why can't you respect mine? Because you don't agree with it?

  96. 296

Re: Genesis – You are so clever Genesis. You know I really do appreciate a good insult from people but I haven't heard one from you yet. It is very interesting to me this scenario you have put forth. So you think being gay is wrong and gay marriage is wrong but religion plays no factor. It is just wrong because you think it is wrong. Oh yah and that private club ideology. Well you have got some great logic there. Good luck with that!

  97. 297

Firstly, I am completely saddened that Prop 8 passed. However, having said that, there are a couple major points to make:

    1. Given our current economic condition, I believe there are bigger fish to fry. Worry about these sorts of issues when you can afford to.
    2. I'm sure Missy Etheridge is a flaming Liberal who just voted Mr. Obama into power. That being the case, why in the world would you want to avoid paying his higher tax (you know, since you are wealthier than $250,000/year), thereby taking so much money away from the poorer people in this country who did nothing to earn it or deserve it? Those poor people need your wealth redistribution to pay for their flat screens, PS3's and Cameros over there in the projects. Now that's not fair!
    3. You're right Missy Etheridge, why pay for rights that you don't get? How about this: Just tell everyone your an illegal alien. That way, you can get a crap ton of rights without having to pay one red cent into the system. How's that for sweetening the deal? Lord knows your new president won't do a darn thing about that.

Basically what I'm getting at is, what in the world do you have to complain about now that you have your president-elect? He's going to hand you the World on a silver platter, isn't he? Granted, he's going to need your help and you'll have to "work" with him to give it to you…or something…

  98. 298

Re: mattc101 – Once again, you don't know anything about me. Those are my opinions, and I am entitles to them, just as you are entitled to yours. I respect your opinions and I'm glad you can sort of try to have an intelligent conversation, or so I thought. Can you not reply because you can't think of anything to say? Because you disagree with me you're going to insult me? Is this a joke? Are we 5?

  99. 299

While I'm not gay, I fully support a gay man or woman to marry thier boyfriend/girlfriend. How on earth is 2 guys marrying each other going to affect your life? Hello you prop 8 supporters, it's the 21st century, please join it. Go Melissa! Don't pay your taxes!

  100. 300

Re: Kilee Lynn – We don't respect it because it is wrong in that you are supporting taking away constitutional rights from other Americans. What about that do you not get you moron? We don't respect it because you are fostering hate in this country very divided country. Christ, what about that do you not understand?
