Obama's First Press Conference Goes To The Dogs

With the country swimming in an economic crisis and California disappointing everyone with its blatant discrimination, the question on everyone's mind at President-elect Obama's first press conference was what kind of dog the First Family would adopt.
Keeping true to his endearing promise to daughters Malia and Sasha to get them a puppy if elected, the Prez-elect said "We have two criteria that have to be reconciled" - the first is that Malia is allergic to dogs and the second is that Obama wants to rescue a dog from the shelter.
So while the family needs a hypoallergenic dog, the only kind of dog available at a shelter might be "a mutt…like me."
The statement revealed Barack's more human side, and as the United States of America is a "melting pot" of different races and different cultures, we're all sort of mutts!
Poodles are generally considered more hypoallergenic, although everyone's allergies are unique, and Malia will probably have to see how she reacts to individual dogs. Additionally, there are many breed-specific shelters to rescue from.

Animals that eat processed pet foods shed more toxins through their skin & coat than animals who are fed high quality minimally processed foods. A proper nutrient rich diet reduces these "allergic" triggers. Mailia's allergies are not to dogs but to the toxins they shed due to poor nutrition. Hypoallergenic breeds are somewhat a myth. Shelter animals and mixed breeds are not any more "allergenic" than pure bred dogs. Though genetics does determine health issues in all living beings, for pets just as with people the food consumed throughout the lifespan makes a significant impact on health and vitality. The allergic affects experienced by Mailia could be lessened and ultimately eliminated over a relatively short period of time if the dog they choose to adopt is fed properly and given quality vitamin/mineral supplements. Any animal given proper nutrition will exhibit less dander, shedding, odor, etc. Please adopt. It will set a great example for the public and help save many animals from death.

We are mostly NOT mutts. That would imply we were all biracial. race is real. We have different DNA. We are NOT all the same. As a race, we tend to have different looks, skin color, shaped heads, tendencies to different conditions and diseases, etc. Obama is biracial, so he was referring to THAT.

I was one of the people who sent him an e-mail imploring him to consider adoption. As the proud mom of a rescued Dobie/Shepherd mix, I knew the love a castoff dog could bring into the lives of those little girls. Rescued dogs are simply the most lovable things in the entire world. My dog is utterly devoted to me. My mom rescued four miniature schnauzers and all four are completely devoted to her.
