Okay, so she did not sing in the octave that recorded the song in, she is older and her voice is a little scratchy, like she slightly strained it or has a cold. give her a break, she still has a amazing voice and she showed up and performed with the scratchy voice. most would have cancelled and disappointed the live crowd. Oh, and even slightly scratchy, she still has a voice that is 1000% better than madonna ever was and ever will be. unfortunately, speaking of madonna, what is the matter, no dramatic news in a few days. Her pr crew must be off.

She was average. She didn't sound bad, but she didn't sound spectacular either. But leave it to Mariah to stay within her comfort zone. She sang the song like it was still 1993. As far as her voice, Mariah has suffered the same fate as Barbra Streisand. In their youth, they had powerful voices, they were everywhere, and they recorded nearly back-to-back albums. That much performing, however, has put a lot of strain on their voice. Their problem was their egos were too big, they thought their voices were to good to hire a vocal coach, practice scales, etc. A vocal coach doesn't teach you how to sing; they train you to keep using the voice you already have effectively and more. You can but you really can't just blame it on age either, because there are singers in their 70s that still sound great (Shirley Bassey comes to mind).

Sorry months ago when she sung on Saturday Night Live. She sounded the same. First Whitney now Mariah. There voices have disappeared. No more high notes for Mariah.
She was definitely sick. The whole song was sung purposely in a lower key and her rungs were broken into uh uh uh's rather than smoothe like she usually does. Clearly she is having issues with her throat or pipes. She usually annoys me because she sings in such a high octave and is very breathy. None of that was happening here.
Did she start lip syncing at the end because all of a sudden she started singing better and they barely showed her face during that part!

Ok, everyone the FACTS: Mariah is older, thus her throat/vocal cords/diagphragm are all older as well making her singing not as GREAT as it used to be. Her voice is STILL GOOD, albeit weaker, but it's still pretty and she sings on key 99% of the time. She sings BETTER and will always sing BETTER than Madonna, Britney and nearly everyone else in pop music today. Madonna = show, Mariah = actual talent. I'm not a fan of either, but I'd MUCH rather pay for someone who actually has vocal talent.

It's so obvious that Mariah's voice is lost. First, she was pushing her voice so hard in the beginning of her career and sounded great, but it had a price but still she had a nice voice like in daydream and butterfly, but the big problem came when she started going gangsta surrounded by rappers, drinking too much alcohol (alcohol dries your vocal chords, even her "crystal") and doing "not hard drugs" but still drugs. She said actually that she has never done "hard drugs" but if you are dressing like a slut (that means you expose your chest and throat to the chilly weather) and partying out daily until 6am next day, drinking alcohol and using "soft drugs" obviously you lost it. And that happened. Since she split from Tommy it was so obvious how bad her voice became. Sometimes she sounds ok, when singing her new easy material, but when she needs to sing her oldies those when she used to have an incredible powerful voice then she sounds like shit. Poor girl. At least she looked almost classy tonight. She needs to use bangs to cover that enormous forehead and her freaky left eye and to use a better make up, but she was "fine". If you check she sounds better on "I Stay In Love" ’cause is a new song written for her now wasted voice. Hero was a big effort for her but she cannot sing that the way she used back on the early 90's

I watched it live and thought it wasn't very good but I have just watched it back and it is ok. MC was very stiff during the show though and when she was interviewed on The Xtra Factor she did not move her head or neck. I love MC but something is not right with her these days.
