Re: PEREZ SUCKS – TWO CONSENTING ADULTS, my dear child, should be able to marry one another regardless of gender. The only people suggesting dogs, hamsters or anything else are the crazies on the Right…who seem overly interested in who is having sex with whom, and less interested in the facts.
I absolutely whole-heartedly applaud Keith Olbermann for putting the fight for gay marriage, a civil rights issue, in such poignant terms and calling attention to the injustice of Prop 8 passing in California. This is far from over, especially if national outcry is any measure for its unpopularity.

In the "religious" sense…blacks marrying whites or interracial marriage in general is not a problem. Maybe we should all just get time machines and permanantly live in 1967 so that you guys can relive the past over and over again. Your 20 and 30 somethings today weren't even ALIVE in 1967 and henceforth have NOTHING to do with the atrocities of that day. There's a reason people pass new laws and move forward but it seems all crybabies want to do is live in the past. THAT being said, "redefining" marriage so a black person could marry a white person or a slave marriage would be legitimized is not against "RELIGION". THE ONE THING that is however, is a man marrying a man or a woman marrying a woman. Those two things are NOT the same. You are redefining the "word" marriage by calling it something it isnt and it belongs to the church LEAVE IT ALONE.
I hope every person who voted yes on prop 8, watches this video. And feels like complete and total shit afterwards.

I usually think that Olbermann is a douche, but I have to admit that he was right on in this clip. I am not gay either, but what 2 people choose to do that has no effect on my life is their own business. When we start telling people how to live their lives, we are no longer a free country.
This is excellent. Well-prepared, well-delivered. As a strong Catholic from the South, people often assume that I am intolerant of homosexuality, but I strongly agree with Mr. Olbermann's statement. God asks us to love one another, not to hate each other and ostracize our brother for being different. I wish more people were as reasonable and compassionate as Mr. Olbermann. I will continue to pray that this hate-filled legislation is overturned, and encourage everyone who reads this to do the same.

I will now save my breath and just direct anyone who needs to hear my thoughts to that commentary.
It makes me SOOOOO sad to see that Gay Marriage is still no where close from being legalized in the United States yet when other westernized nations such as Spain, Canada etc have already legalized gay marriage federally and have all the same rights as str8 married couples…but yet the USA which is supposedly the most advanced country can't even give all of their citizens the same right of LOVE and MARRIAGE???? It truly saddens me bc it affects me extremly knowing that I can't even marry my boyfriend which ive been with for 2 years and love to death! I actually currenly here on an expired visa in the US and my bf is a US citizen but since we can't get married I would eventualy be forced to leave this country and be separated from the love of my life… I guess we will just have to move to Europe (Spain) where the government actually embraces all of it's citizens and things are actually better off then here…this country is really falling behind as a person who has traveled all over the world and seen many things..it astonishes me how ppl here in the US seem to think this is the best place in the world but the truth is it's not anymore bc other westernized nations have already surpassed us in most fields. Sad, let's hope Obama brings true change.

Re: mattc101 – That was beautiful and has such a ring of truth to it. I believe in gay marriage and I hope one day this injustice will be reversed. But honestly, it's going to be hard for it to come. I don't think it's comparable to the civil rights movement for many people though so they might want to stop that arguement. Because many people still believe being gay is a choice (I personally don't) but until people can stop that belief it's hard to compare it the civil rights movement because you have no say in you're skin color. But what people are saying on here is true: many straight people don't take marriage seriously so why not just allow people who do take it seriously (obviously gay people since they are fighting for that right) In my opinion there is so much hate in this world who are we to codemn those who are willing to express their loves for each other no matter if its the same gender. And please church fanatics don't even respond with bible quotes because the bible was man written and can be used to prove anyone's point of view. Anyway I hope the homosexual community can win this battle but it just may take time. Change just doesn't happen overnight.

Olbermann sucks and being this whiny really doesn't do him any favors. That being said, he's right.
There is a serperation of church and state, and I a have not found a religious zealot yet who can show me where "God" is in the constitution. The founders were atheist, deist and christian, but were all running from religious repression in England. The 1st amendment says it all about religion. Keep the bullshit out of our faces. "In God We Trust" wasn't put on money until 1864, and wasn't made the motto of this country til 1956. Go to church, but leave it there.

My point is that Jesus teaches us to love our fellow man, and your hateful words won't bring more belivers to the word, it'll repel them.
