Quite honestly, I believe most uneducated and ignorant people SHOULD NOT be allowed to procreate. Not to mention it would cure that problem with too many people on this earth and pushing our environment to the brink. So how about we prohibit UNEDUCATED AND PEOPLE BELOW A CERTAIN INCOME LEVEL from having children? Isn't that better for children anyway? That's right we sterilize those people. They do it in other countries. Oh but those who support Prop 8 would prob disagree with me, right?? Why? See this is the problem with Prop 8, when you start discriminating against a group of people, be PREPARED to be discriminated against as well! America is supposed to be about EQUAL rights, no matter your RACE, RELIGION, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, SEX, ETC. So when you threaten those rights of some people, you threaten ALL of our rights. Personally, I wish they WOULD start discriminating not only against uneducated people, but fat people as well. nothing disgusts me more in life than people who care so little about their bodies. Is not the body "god's gift". So when you allow that body to go to waste….aren't you throwing away God's gift??? So all you "religious" people that support Prop 8, really should take a HARD LOOK at your own life and choices.
Bottom line, seriously how does the "definition of marriage" REALLY effect you??? Seriously??? If the definition of "coffee" changed would it ruin your day to day functions? LOL. It's a DEFINITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who cares???!! Live your own life, and worry about your damn self….b/c trust me no one's life is perfect and if we all focused a little more on improving ourselves (body, mind, and soul) and stopped worrying about what every other person is thinking, doing, saying ….we'd have a MUCH better world!

There just seems to be some pretty major misinterpretations. Title VII of the United States civil rights code establishes Homosexual ,Lesbian & Transgender individuals as a "protected class" under the law,meaning that any discrimination against them is unlawful. So it would appear that the statement referring to being fired in 31 states is not only false,but strictly contradicts established Federal Law.Also-the military's current policy is "dont ask/dont tell" meaning there is no reason for a homosexual to be dismissed from military service. These things just go to show (me,anyway) that the elusive "equality" that is being sought has been there for quite some time now,but not in the form that is desired. So is it equality that is being sought…or is it sympathy? In other words…Perez,you're not really knowledgable on many things-sorry dude! great site,though!

Stop quoting the bible…the bible says a lot of things, like don't eat shell fish, don't wear two types of material at once, it's okay to buy and sell slaves. It also says don't have sex before marriage, don't swear, don't use the lords name in vain-all these things are sin and the bible does not make a distinction between sins-they are all equal. But most importantly the bible says "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"…this is a basic civil rights movement. All the LGBT community wants is to be treated as equal citizens. Asking for equal protection should not be surprising to all of you and it should not offend you. If it does you are beyond a bigot, you are beyond an idiot, you are a morally reprehensible person. How would you feel, you good Christians who do nothing but judge others (by the way, the bible says you shouldn't do that either) feel if your civil rights were taken away. If your marriage or love for another person meant nothing, if you could be fired from your job or attacked because of who you were? Would you not be marching in the streets, asking to fair treatment, requesting that you are protected by the government you vote on and pay taxes to? You don't have to agree with someone being gay, you don't have to like it, but you should respect them and what they are doing, because one day it may be your son or your daughter who is requesting equal rights…

Perez, as much as I love you, I am sorry. I voted Yes on 8. I think the biggest misconception is that we are being judgmental, that we hate, and in most cases that is not it at all. For myself an many, it's a religious belief. The Bible says marriage is between a man and a woman. And if we were "ONE NATION UNDER GOD" people would understand that.

Gay people can still verbally announce their vows to their partners, without changing what the definition of marriage is!! They can still be monogamous, they can support each other and even file taxes jointly, if they take the time to register their union as a domestic partnership. Secondly if you do not wish your children to attend a portion of sex education class that you feel you can better explain you as a parent reserve the right to do that-that too happens all the time. However to discriminate against people and reject the opportunity to provide others with the basic civil rights you enjoy and they are entitled to is wrong and I for one would never want my children to grow up in a society such as that. Again I ask, what it if is your son or daughter that is seeking civil rights for whatever reason-would you protest or vote against them? Would you call them vile names and tell them they are less than equal to others around them? I don't think you could say you would. And lastly, your uneducated view on sex education and AIDS and its spread shows that you should not be having children. Do some research, read a book or go back to middle school and start over.

Regarding President Elect Obama-while both Obama and Biden said they do not support the term "gay marriage" they support strong civil unions that offer the exact same benefits that are afforded to straight couples under marriage. Further they both said that they believed Prop 8 and other amendments against gay marriage are wrong and that they would vote against such amendments.
